Unhappy Edit date crash

I just installed the Game on my PC running Windows XP. When I
try to edit the bout date on the pop-up screen I am unable to backspace
and after a few keystrokes the game crashes and I have to restart.
Is there any way to have the bout date default back to the current date?
Thanks.

I had problems with this as well when the game loaded and then asked for a date, but it occurred when using the arrow keys. If I use backspace only, then input the date without using the arrow keys, the game does not lock-up.

Definitely click directly on the date and use backspace only.

Also, when you're loading the game make sure other things on your computer aren't in the process of loading or opening. If I start the game and, while it's loading, start up, say, Outlook then the game will freeze at the date edit screen.

Using the backspace key does the trick!....I got so used to using
the arrows key for moving the cursor around I completely forgot the
backspace key! Boy am I dumb! The alt + tab method doesn't work
on my Windows XP machine but thanks for the response anyway.
