First bout ever simmed
The first bout I ever simmed was with the board game in 1979, when I simmed Hector Thompson vs Saoul Mamby with Mamby winning by UD10. I still have the folder with all my old results in it.
I'm interested in hearing what was the first bout simmed by other players of the game. Shane.

Of course, the granddaddy of "what if" fights Rocky Marciano vs Muhammad Ali. Marciano won all 4 times I had the fight arise in my pencil and paper universe of long ago.

I guess it's been about 25 years ago that I staged my first fight with the old Title Bout board game. I remember that it was Ali vs Frazier, with Ali winning a decision. I think the only reason I'm able to remember that is because I fell in love with this game right there and then.

Mine was Ali/Frazier as well back in 1979 with Ali picking up the decision.
It was my next fight, though, that addicted me to the game. Peter Jackson (who I'd never heard of at the time) KO'd Joe Frazier in the 4th round. That started me reading the backs of the cards and learning about all the older fighters I knew nothing about. The rest is many years of history. |

Going back to the pen and paper game mine was John L Sullivan vs Jack Dempsey. Dempsey won by a 3rd round TKO. Still haven't replayed that fight with TBCB........Be right back...
Just simmed it again, Dempsey dominated, heaping huge amounts of punishment on John L en route to an 8th round TKO. One other guy that I had never really heard of before Title Bout was Young Stribling. I was facinated with the amount of bouts he had before dying at the young age of 29 in a Motorcycle Accident. I fought him against everyone and he always managed to give everyone trouble, win or lose. The "King of the Canebakes" definitely became a favorite of mine thanks the Board game. Back around '91 or '92 using the Lance Haffner TKO Pro Boxing version: Ali vs. Tyson with Ali winning via 13th round TKO. I did Tyson vs. Frazier right after where Iron Mike scored a mid round stoppage, ruining Fraziers debut.

In title bout I did Jackson Corbett with the Black Prince, Jackson taking a decision. It was a 20 rounder. I doubled each fighters stamina, but wanted 20 rounders to reflect the finish fights of the era.
I fook all of the fighters and made 5" by 8" cards for them and arranged them all by career start dates and started doing historical bouts. Bear Quote:

I used to have an old card and dice game and one of the first series of bouts I staged was between Tommy Burns and Tom Sharkey. Tommy's speed and moxie and the Sailor's wild agression made for some great battles.

Jack Johnson vs. Mike Tyson
Just now in the demo. It was more entertaining than I thought it would be. The game seems interesting with my growing intrerest in boxing. Johnson dominated the fight winning all rounds on my card and 9/12 on the judges card. It was a decision in 12 rounds with no knockdowns. Tyson was pretty beat up though landing roughly 1/3rd of what Johnson landed. |

Tyson/Michael Spinks.
With the old card game, I guess '87 set, was the fight I most remembered. 15 round title fight, Spinks dominates Tyson throughout. Tyson scores 1 punch KO with like 15 seconds left in the fight. Tyson KO'd Spinks early in the sim. GH |
