Woohoo - the Beavers civilize the Barbarians!

The weekly recognition comes down to 4 2-0 boxers on the Bonner Springs squad:

Mickey Walker
Ike Ibeabuchi
Charles McCoy
Rodolpho Martinez

Looks like Martinez will be the guy this week, as the others beat guys they were supposed to. Martinez beat two higher ranked fighters, and beating a 9-rated Gilberto Roman was highly unexpected.

Other fighters to exceed expectations:

- The beginner Jim Watt putting away tough veteran Art Aragon.
- 4-rated Isidro Perez drawing with 10-rated Santo Laciar (looks like Laciar squeaked out a victory over my other 4-rated Fly Cob Castro in a SD)

Mark has a tough squad, and I have no illusions that the Beavers are in any way superior. We just had a better day.

Hopefully, this lost will cause the Barbarians to revert back to their previous form of losing every match by small margins. Lord knows that it would make life easier for the rest of us if it did.

... the Barbarians' perspective, we got zip out of our heavyweights, Dokes and Mesi, in a situation where they should have been competitive. Roman losing twice at bantam and a couple of draws by key guys did me in. And to think I waived Perez ... argh!

Good job to the Beavers! This division may be the most competitive of all with the evenly matched returning teams and the best expansion outfit.

Congrats to the Hilltoppers.
Thanks for thumping my ass Ian. You made me feel like the expansion team that I am. One thing the Mitt Slingers have to look forward too, they get the other expansion team next week before they have to face the rest of the veteran teams for the remainder of the season. I hope my guys grow up quick.
The Mitt Slingers traded up to get to the 105 cap but this match just proves that age is better than having rookie high rated fighters. Oh well, maybe in a season or two, we might contend.

Wow..another whipping. Even though I am an expansion team..I really thought that I could compete a little better than my team has thus far. Oh well, guess it comes with the territory. Anyone want a 3rd round pick..no use keeping one..lol. My heavyweights went 2-2..kind of a let down. Congrats to the Kangaroos and Shane. Good luck the rest of the way my friend.

Just checked the schedule..looks like I get to battle another expansion team next week. I guess that will be a better way to judge where my team is at this point. Look forward to our matchup Sal. Should have some pretty good scraps. See ya later.

Agreed. Looking forward to our match. I've made trades and so have you to improve on our rosters. I hope the difference maker will be the 3 experienced fighters I picked up in the initial roster draft. I guess we'll see next weekend.
Here's to the Colts. May they win in huge fashion.

Nice feelgood win against the expansion Dublin Guards after round 1's embarrassing loss to the Beavers.

7 Tomato's won both of their matches this round:
CH-Terry McGovern 2-0-0 (2)
George Chuvalo 2-0-0 (2)
Duane Bobick 2-0-0 (1)
Oba Carr 2-0-0 (1)
Fausto Rodriguez 2-0-0 (1)
Juan Zurita 2-0-0 (0)
Lupe Pintor 2-0-0 (1)

I was really worried about McGovern's title defense against Battling Battalino, and I was really shocked to see a KO in 3. (I think McGovern dodged a bullet on that one)

On the downside, Diego Corrales lost again and is only 1-2-1 (1) this season. Hopefully he's one of those guys that will struggle in his rookie season and then turn it on after he goes pre-prime. Can't give up on him yet.

As for the Dublin Guard, the last second additions of Benny Briscoe and Guty Espadas definitely was a smart move. Those two got 4 of the team's 9 total wins and probably saved them from what could have been the most lopsided loss in UTBA history.

The Tomatoes may still be in last place in the West, but going from a -27 to a +4 overall is a step in the right direction. Next week - the much improved Bear's Unstable.

Cheers Sal. At least in your favour, the two guys I traded to you, Tiger and Uzcudan, went 4-0 against us. That'll teach us.

I was surprised at Batts loss as well. Not so much the loss, as the fact that it was a three rounder. Seeing Rodak go 11 with McGovern made it even worse.
Good too see my new pick ups did well, that was a surprise too and seeing RJJ go 2-0 this week was nice. Another surprise was Krogh KOing Corrales.
As far as the overall fight card, it turned pretty much as I expected.
Good work Tomato City...

That was horrible, we went 12-3-1 in the higher weightclasses. There's no way your going to win a match when you fall into that kind of hole. Excellent effort on the part of my lighter weight guys to almost dig us out but damn I'm not real happy right now. Oh well, at least I know theres no way my heavies can do that badly again.

Congrats go out to Bear and his guys for fighting a excellenct match and getting the win.
