First chance I've had to ring in so a couple of things:

- First, a belated welcome to Kalinik! Bummer to see that my buddy a87star was not able to secure a team, but I'm sure Kalinik will make a fine owner. To a87star, I hope familiy issues are resolved and that everything is okay.

- Second, a shout out to Tommy, whose lighter weight guys were pretty rough on the Beavers. Fortumately for me, a clean sweep in FW, LW and HW secured a victory for Bonner Springs.

Looking over the log, I see former Beavers did their best to upset the applecart. Carruthers, who I dearly wish I'd never traded, continues to pile up the victories. Torpedo Billy looks like he made it interesting against former teammate Bernard Taylor in an SD for Taylor. I was nervous about the first match between a prime Murphy and a beginning Caballero, but it looks like C-squared was ready for this one, earning two very impressive victories this week and almost netting the MVP award.

- Third, a tough call on this week's MVP winner. I was tempted to award Caballero, especially after he dispatched 9th rated Davey Kotey. Eddie Cotton also made a strong statement in his favor with two KOs. But veteran Jim Watt has yet to receive the award, and has been deserving on more than one occasion. So the Scotsman claims it for week 6.

MVP on the Beavers is a pretty loose term. Really, shouldn't you call it the "Most Valuable Player not named Mickey Walker"

No question about that one. MVP is actually an abbreviation for "MVPNNMW". The Mick, being the team player he is, insisted we divide the recognition among his stablemates. A person could argue on behalf of Kid McCoy most weeks as well.

I've kindda looked at the award as "who's exceeded my expectations by the greatest extent." Caballero should probably have taken the award this week given those parameters, but Watt's never won it, was almost as deserving, and I felt like giving him a pat on the back. I figure Caballero will win often in the future as a 9 masquerading as a 7.

Eddie Cotton has also had several weeks where he's kicked butt, this being one of them. Just trying to spread the happiness... I usually don't award a second MVP to a fighter in the same season unless he is the only guy who clearly merits it.

On another front, I see former Beaver Mark Breland has had a banner year for you. I agonized between offering him or Quintana in the deal for Zab Judah 2-3 seasons ago and I've always regretted that I chose to keep Quintana. Breland has had quite a nice UTBA career.

Yeah, Breland has been a great pickup this season. Not only has he won the WW Title twice, he's got a 10-2-0 (9) record for 29 PTS. It's hard to believe that as a "6" rated guy, he's an improvement over "8" rated Oba Carr.

Last season Carr finished 12-7-1 (8) 33 PTS and has had a really bad season so far as a member of the Undisputed Champions at 4-7-1 (0) 9 PTS.

I just hope Breland can keep piling up points for the rest of this season.

Here's a better pic of Jim Watt (don't know where it came from)
