So far, no upsets in the championship fights:

FLY #1 beat #6

BW #1 beat #7

Will the rest hold to form?????

Any thoughts on biggest upset of the tournaments so far

Oba Carr KO4 over #1 WW seed Lloyd Honeyghan
George Gardner TKO7 over #1 LHW Bob Foster
Dave Charnley U-15 over #3 LW Carlos Ortiz
Billy Calvert DQ-10 over #3 FW Howard Winstone

All four are a bit unexpected but Garder over Foster is most astonishing. I wasexpecting Foster to go all the way.

Agree, Foster's loss was a huge upset.

I'll see if I can find a way to sell this one to you guys (PPV over the internet).

* I'll pick George Gardner TKO7 over #1 LHW Bob Foster as the biggest upset.

Featherweight Championship Title Bout

Featherweight Championship
Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ
August 22, 2006
Attendance: 13,480

Young Griffo 14-1-3 (3) vs. Ike Chestnut 11-7-1 (1)

The Boxing Kangaroos stable has their second fighter in a final tonight. The Kangaroos finished with the worst record in the UTBA but they already have one individual champion and looking for number two.

This championship bout went the full 15 rounds with no knockdowns or cuts. It was all Griffo. Chestnut looked as if he didn't know how to throw a punch. Griffo wins a UD15. Judges scorecards: all 3 had it 148-137.

The UTBA presents their first Featherweight title belt to Young Griffo of the Boxing Kangaroos.

* Young Griffo 15-1-3 (3) - UTBA FW Champion *

It sounds like it was all Griffo. Great to see the season end on a positive note for our team, after a very bad season. Something to build on for next season.

Attendance: 13,500

Howard Davis Jr. 11-4-2 (2) vs. Dave Charnley 11-6-0 (2)

The lightweight title match was one to be forgotten. The only excitement came in the 8th round when Davis Jr dropped Charnley for a 6 count. Both fighters left the ring tonight without a mark on them.

Howard Davis Jr. wins a UD15 over Dave Charnley.
Judges scorecards: 143-141, 143-141, 143-142.

I was very surprised Davis Jr. got to the final and won, but after a disappointing regular season I will certainly take it. :]

Welterweight Title Fight

Sorry for the delay, late day/night at work.

Welterweight Championship
Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ
August 23, 2006
Attendance: 13,300

Oba Carr 13-4-1 (4) vs. Johnny Saxton 14-5-0 (2)

This turned out to be the best championship match I have witnessed so far. In most of the rounds, both fighters scored at least 10 or more points each.

Round one went to Carr.
Both fighters took round two off.
Round three went to Saxton.
Rounds 4 - 8 all to Carr, with Carr scoring a knockdown.
In round nine, Carr was once again in control until Saxton made him taste the canvas with a right cross @ the 1:48 mark. Saxton took control for the remainder of the fight.

Judges scorecards: 142-141, 142-141, 143-140, all for Saxton.
Ringside expert Mike Hanson saw the fight differently, scoring it 143-140 for Carr.

Iceteaboxing stable has their first individual champion crowned.
* Johnny Saxton 15-5-0 (2) New UTBA Welterweight Champion *

Middleweight Title Fight

Middleweight Championship
Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ
August 23, 2006
Attendance: 13,500

Mickey Walker 19-0-0 (15) vs. Ken Overlin

These two fighters put on a good show coming out of one of the strongest divisions in the UTBA.
There were no knockdowns or cuts in the fight.
I had the bout scored dead even after 10 rounds (95-95).
Walker took comand of the fight in the 11th when he unleashed a 32 point barrage on Overlin. Walker also managed to score 28 pts. in the 13th and finished the fight scoring 25 pts. in the final round.

The UTBA Crowns their first Middleweight Champion.............
from the World Team Champion Bonner Springs Bald Beavers, Mickey Walker.

* Mickey Walker 20-0-0 (15) - UTBA Middleweight Champion *
