Mickey Walker 19-0-0 (15) vs. Ken Overlin

These two fighters put on a good show coming out of one of the strongest divisions in the UTBA.
There were no knockdowns or cuts in the fight.
I had the bout scored dead even after 10 rounds (95-95).
Walker took comand of the fight in the 11th when he unleashed a 32 point barrage on Overlin. Walker also managed to score 28 pts. in the 13th and finished the fight scoring 25 pts. in the final round.

The UTBA Crowns their first Middleweight Champion.............
from the World Team Champion Bonner Springs Bald Beavers, Mickey Walker.

* Mickey Walker 20-0-0 (15) - UTBA Middleweight Champion *
Gotta love that pug. The Mick goes perfect in season one!

Light Heavyweight Championship Match

Lt.Heavyweight Championship
Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ
August 24, 2006
Attendance: 13,500

Marvin Johnson 13-4-0 (9) vs Eddie Cotton 14-5-0 (8)

Johnson set the table early in this bout. Johnson came out swinging as the bell for round one sounded and dropped Cotton with an uppercut for a 8 count @ the one minute mark. Johnson remained in control for the next 5 rounds and then he dropped Cotton again in the 6th round. This time Cotton managed to get to his feet after a 5 count @ 1:43 but Johnson didn't back off and the referee had to stop the fight at 2:13 in the round.
Johnson wins by TKO6 at the 2:13 mark.

From the MexiVilles stable, Marvin Johnson claims the LHW title belt.

Heavyweight Championship Title Match

Heavyweight Championship
Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ
August 24, 2006
Attendance: 13,500

Peter Jackson 19-0-0 (7) vs Max Schmeling 13-3-1 (8)

This highly anticipated HW bout turned into a one sided affair. There was only one knockdown in the fight as Jackson put Schmeling on the canvas with a left hook in the 11th round. Schmeling could not get his fight game going as he looked like he was in survival mode for 15 rounds.
Jackson wins an easy UD15.
Scorecards: 146-138, 147-139, 146-138.

Iceteboxing has their second boxer fitted for a title belt.

* Peter Jackson 20-0-0 (7) - UTBA Heavyweight Champion *

Congrats to the winners! Johnson proved the superior man today against my boy Cotton, and Jackson becomes the second fighter to conclude the season undefeated.

Yes!!! One of my two all-time favorite fighters wins the belt for me. I would have thought it would have been Arguello but great run by a 6 rated Marvin Johnson!!!

At least I got one title. I'm sure he'll lose it early in the year though.

Now any takers for my other LHW .. Daniel Judah .. giving him away for a 3rd rounder, I'll even throw in a year's supply of turtle wax*

Draft time, baby. I'm ready for this I got me a draft broad with my main holes and the targeted prospects to fill them all set up. Of course, I also realized that chances are it'll be competely worthless as everyone I will already be picked by my turn to draft in the first round because the draft gods hate me.

Jackson's winning the belt and going undefeated wasn't a great surprise to me. Walker going undefeated versus his competition was a bit more unexpected. I would have thought that one of the many good middleweights, like zale, might have gotten to him.
Congrats to all of the belt winners.

I've got my eye on only one person and there is a slight chance he'd be around at my pick but I've already made inquires about a draft and trade option with a couple of people.

Well there's one guy I really want but I know he won't be around come my turn to pick and at this point I'm not willing to give up what I would need to to get him. However, if one of my back-up picks last until my pick I'll be a happy happy man.

with the 10th pick I was fairly realistic in my wants but I really want this one guy in particular so I'm entering trade talks for him. If someone picks him they can expect numerous PM's from me LOL

All rosters on page one have been updated with official team cap points, current record and age status of the fighters.

All managers with the exception of mh and ConnChris have been PM'd stating that the draft has started. Watch for draft selections being made on the UTBA Draft thread and when it's your turn to draft, please do so.

Season 2

Here's how the divisions and conferences will look for season 2.
Everybody remained in the same divisions. Your random numbers decided which conference you would be in.
Bad news for the expansion team Bears Unstable. They will enter season two in the same conference as the world champion Bald Beavers.

Just remember, Tomato City beat the Muckboys last season. It's not gonna be a walkover. Some of my guys can't possibly be as bad as they were. Also, The Fritz Chervet ratings snafu guaranteed my team 8 losses at the start of the season.

Also, Both the Kangaroos and Barbarians have high draft picks. The Kangaroos are much better now w/ Max Baer...

Question about PfP

Just a question concerning the PfP's. I apologize if this was discussed or explained somewhere else and I missed it...

Are the PfP's going to be defaulted back to 200 at the start of each season? I'm curious to know since after the posting of the Pound-for-Pound leaders, it is obvious that some of these guys will never be caught, even if a newcomer goes undefeated this season.

Also, if a fighter w/ a lousy record in Season 1 (I'll use my guy MW Gomeo Brennan 2-8-4 (1) - Rated 8) turns things around and has a winning record this season, I don't see it possible for him to have any chance to make the final-16 based on the PfP carried over.

Any thoughts from the peanut gallery
