He broke up the boxing brothers, how could TC do that. I take back all the nice things I said earlier and demand that he be removed from the league. Also, the Individual, Team, Nation Notes and Streaks lists have all been updated to reflect the name change.

EDIT: WOOOO, team flags back in the standings. Great job SAL, it's official SAL > everyone else.

Damn you Romy.
I was just getting ready to announce the updates and you beat me to it.

The Standings have been reset to zero and updated with the team flags. The rankings have also been updated with the new team flag.

Romy, what new team flags do you need for the update database?

Thats what I'm here for to ruin your announcements. I need the Southpaws' and Wildcats' flags.

Dang Rom, I had to. I wanted to keep 'em, but, man he just wasn't good enough for other fighters out there. He was hanging on for dear life and not throwing enough jabs.. I had to get someone new.

Oh? SAL? It is the Fightin' WildKats. Not Wildcats like the Mildcats of Northwestern. hehe.

I sure hope those WildKats don't indicate some misplaced allegiance to the hated Kentucky Wildcats! That would be a bad Hoosier, baaaad!!!

Here is the Minor League rules that were posted back in the voting poll when everyone was working that thread over and there was no further discussion on them.....so I have placed these rules in the Official UTBA Rules on the first page.

This will be how we operate the Minors come season 6.

UTBA Minor (Developmental) League

Purpose:
  • Allows Beginning/Pre-Prime fighters the opportunity to age while not members of a UTBA Team main roster
  • Allows UTBA Managers to retain exclusive rights to Beginner/Pre-Prime fighters not used in Team Matches
  • Clean-up Draft Pool/Waiver Wire without premature forced retirement of fighters
Basic Rules:
  • Not Mandatory (but participating Team Managers must maintain a full 8-man roster)
  • Each Team Manager can name 1 Beginning/Pre-Prime fighter per weight class (SEE ALSO: Minor League Aging)
  • Hard Cap of 45 ratings points for each team's 8-man roster (Cap is independent of UTBA cap of 105 ratings points)
  • UTBA main Team Rosters will list Minor League fighters (designated w/ different colored print)
  • Minor League weekly matches will be randomly determined by Title Bout II Auto scheduler. All fighters are placed into a single group (No Gold/Silver Conference) per weight class for auto scheduling. [The UTBA Commissioner (SAL) reserves the right to add a fighter from the Draft Pool/Waiver Wire to ensure an even # of fighters are available for each week's auto scheduling.] (Just in case every Team Manager does not field a Minor League roster)
  • Fight results will be posted in the main UTBA thread following the Team Match results
Advanced Rules:
  • Transactions (Part 1): Minor League fighters can be Traded, Called-Up/Promoted to the Main Team Roster, or Demoted/Dropped to the Draft Pool/Waiver Wire. All Transactions must be submitted to the UTBA Commissioner during the designated weekly Free Agent Waiver period.
  • Transactions (Part 2): Initially there will be no limit to the number of Call-Ups or Demotion Transactions allowed. [The UTBA Commissioner (SAL) reserves the right to set a limit to the number of transactions allowed or number of times a fighter can be called-up/demoted if the system becomes unmanageable] The last Call-Up/Demotion Transactions that will be allowed is prior to the Week 10 Team Matches. After the Week 10 matches are completed, Minor League fighters are not eligible for team Playoff Rosters.
  • Minor League Aging: Only Beginning/Pre-Prime fighters are allowed in the Minor League. Once fighters age to Prime, Team Managers will be notified with a PM from SAL (UTBA Commissioner). Team Managers have 48 hours to remove the Prime fighter from the Minor League roster by either Call-Up to the Main Team, Demotion to the Draft Pool/Waiver Wire or Trade to another team. After 48 hours without resolution, the Team Manager will lose exclusive rights to the Prime fighter and he will be returned to the Draft Pool/Waiver Wire and the roster spot will be randomly filled by SAL (UTBA Commissioner) with a fighter of equal (or lower) rating.

I have updated the rosters so far with the minor league draft selections that have taken place to date.

The minors cap will posted in blue next to the UTBA team cap........
Example:
105/45

and the minor league fighters will also be listed on your rosters in blue under their respective weight class.

No, if you are from Indiana, and you have to travel north of Indy to go to South Bend you have one choice, US31. And to do that, you get to go thru my childhood home of Kokomo.

The local high school is known as the WildKats. And since I am a former sports reporter for the local paper, I decided to borrow their nickname.

We don't speak of the Kentucky team. We would rather beat them soundly on the basketball court!

My dad lived in a tiny town called "Claypool" which was in between Wabash and Warsaw. Always took US31 from Indy - through Kokomo (from this experience I learned the name "Kokomo" was Indian, and meant "the land of a million traffic lights"). I think it was US 24 we took from US 31, then some other side road that I no longer remember - my old memory is getting hazy.

At any rate, I am very happy to hear that the team of Adoph Rupp is not one to which you swear allegiance.

Indiana Basketball Schools...

hey, mh, what about Butler? They did better than any of the teams you mentioned this past season, and they were the only team to play the national champs (Florida) even into the last three minutes of the game. The Bulldogs are a great underdog team that everyone can root for.

I have indexed the all of the UTBA history I can find or think of. The index of links can be found on the first page, #2 post of the Almanac thread or you can use the link in my sig. (UTBA History Links)
I hope this will make finding the UTBA's past a little easier. Some of the links will take you to another post that also contains links. I have tried to make sure and note that when I did that.

Check it out and if I left something out or made it confusing to navigate around.........let me know and I'll try to improve on it.

I love Butler too but with the coach gone to Iowa not sure how they will do in the near future. I pretty much root for everything Indiana ... I still remember back when UNLV was unbeatable and Ball State almost took them out in the sweet 16, had a shot to win it at the buzzer.

Then there was the great shot by Bryce Drew for Valpo .. and ISU in 1979 when the Bird was the Word!!!! Played about 20 games through high school at Hinkle Fieldhouse where Butler plays

Season 5 To Begin.............

Season 5 will open tomorrow night.(Less than 24 hours away)

Opening team match will feature The Dublin Guards making the long trip from Ireland to Kansas to visit the 4-time defending Gold Conference Champions, Bonner Springs Bald Beavers. The Guards made a few roster moves using the waiver wire and the Beavers have a new look as they completely re-tooled their entire roster. We'll soon see if the moves paid off for either team.

We will also make a trip to Indiana where Left Jab Inc. will visit the old Boxing Kangaroo's team which is now under new management with a new team name......Fightin' WildKats. Not much has changed for the WildKat's team, only two new faces on the roster. Left Jab has gave up on their WW division this season to add strength in a couple of their other weight classes. Might just be the moves Left Jab needed to put them in the playoff hunt this year. Time will tell.

Good luck to all 4 teams in your season openers and I wish you all the best of luck on your hunt for the playoffs.
