Ha, look at SAL pull out a Cintron reference. I didn't think anyone would remember me hating on Cintron.

Really, the reason behind the cap change is I'll be introducing the draft pool at the midway point and some teams might want to improve their team and make a push for the playoffs instead of waiting till the draft after season 1 to better their team.
Alright, I would still prefer it to not be raised until the end of the season but it isn't a big deal to me and I'm cool with what you've got.

IF the vote to abolish the conferences passes and IF we keep the season as ten weeks, then the easiest format would be to have six divisions of four, play six divisional games and four against all the teams from one other division. This means that over a five season period all teams would have played each other once. Playoffs could be six division champs plus two wildcards.

Just chucking that out there.

Are the ratings given to the fighters on the database here on the board accurate as to how they are in 2.5?

So let me get this straight ... no keepers from our past "current" roster but everyone in the db is available correct?

* I think it is everyone under the rating of 11.

Lets call the UTBA II a new league except most owners will have the advantage of having a background of the fighters performance over 4 1/2 seasons in the UTBA.

I made some bad choices of who (overall ratings of fighters) to add in the draft pool in the UTBA and learned from it. So here is my suggestion for setting up your initial roster for the UTBA II.
  • The starting cap will be 100 points. It will move to 105 at mid-point of season 1.
  • You will be allowed only 1 fighter rated 10, only 1 fighter rated 9 and 2 fighters rated 8. You will not be allowed to have any fighter on your initial roster rated less than a 3. You can fill in the rest of your roster with 3 to 7 rated fighters however you see fit to total the 100.
  • Rosters will be submitted to me by PM by all teams. If there are any duplicate choices of fighters on two or more rosters, I'll notify the concerned owners informing them they need to make corrections to their roster.
  • Past owners will not have any special privileges on fighters they may have had on a roster in the UTBA. All fighters in the 2.5 db will fair game to all owners.
The reason for the overall rating guideline is I'm going to add fighters to the draft pool this time around on a pro-rated basis of their overall rating. This is a new start so to speak, so forget the past and those 11 rated fighters. The 11+ fighters will be added to the draft pool on a pro-rated basis.
If every team was allowed one 11 rated fighter to start with, we would not see another one added to the draft pool for the next 13-15 seasons.
I might be wrong, but I interpret this as meaning that there are no restricted fighters rated between 3-10. It sounds like Scot is allowing us to pick whomever we want, even if the fighter was on our own UTBA Season 5 active roster.

With that said, any owner can attempt to select any fighter who was previously on another owners UTBA Season 5 roster. An owner does not have the right to protect any fighter. No one has exclusive rights to any fighters.

Therefore, if I (Tomato City) wanted to pick 8-rated LHW-Prince Charles Williams (formerly on IceTeaBoxing's UTBA Season 5 roster) it would be allowed. The only issue would be if either IceTea or any other owner also selects Prince Charles Williams. In that case, Prince Charles Williams would be tossed from the initial selection lists and the owners would be notified by Scot (SAL) to select an alternate fighter.

This system would kind of be a middle ground for both veteran owners and newbies. There is a chance that a veteran owner can retain part of his roster from the old UTBA, but it also allows newbie owners unrestricted access to all fighters between 3-10 in the 2.5DB

Thank you for that reminder, how in the hell did I make the playoffs with that piece of garbage on my team. I've had some real stinkers on my team.

The database linked in General Discussions should be accurate.

Also if two pick the same fighter, that fighter should be out completely ... I think the initial go around someone snuck under the rules by repicking the same guy, while the other owner picked someone else ... not sure though.

or should ties go to the previous owner?

I agree that any fighter picked by multiple owners should be immediately disqualified.

Previous owners should not receive the benefit of breaking a tie...

I agree but was throwing it out there. I think we will see considerably more ties this time than last ...

I would also allow for deals to be made if there is a tie ... like one owner could offer a draft pick or something for the other owner to relent.

That would depend if Scot (SAL) wanted to make all owners aware of who the others asking for a particular fighter were. If there are a lot of duplicates, this may be difficult and time consuming to keep track of.

Overall, not a bad idea, but I think simplicity is best.

Well, yes there is that too bad the rest of my team decided not to show up that day. Cutting Cintron was one of my fondest moments of the UTBA.

I'm done with my lineup as well. I'm ready to get this thing started.

I'm hoping my change of venue, team name, and overall roster MAY aid me in winning more than two match-ups this time around

Let's see if the "Irish luck" continues...
