I'll wait till this evening and then probably issue a 2 or 3 day deadline to have your replacement picks in.

I thought that football team moved to Arizona?

Wait, I think you meant baseball. That was a brain dead moment.

The football Cardinals originated in Chicago as the Racine AC, a semi-pro team in the later 1890's. Racine, in this case is the Chicago stree, not the Wisconsin City. They became known as the Cardinals, some time later, when their cheapskate owner, picked up faded and used old uniforms from the University of Chicago Maroons football team. When his players asked him what the hell color the faded maroon uniforms were, he quipped "Cardinal Red" and they became known as the Cardinals. The Cardinals, as an original NFL team have to have the suckiest record in pro sports history for a long term team. One title ever around 1948. What a storied history.

If we're going to choose colors, I'll go with black and orange, the colors of the occasionally scrappy and oft crappy Orioles! What a difference one letter makes!

As I have been srtuggling through Detroit's woes I have thought of that Sports Illustrated cover with the headline "Oh For April!" It helps me to keep in mind that things could always be worse.

Thanks Baltimore!

Lausse was invaluable to me in the old league snagging a few points for me in a tough division. When I formed Unstable as an expansion club I was just hoping he'd be an Anton Raadik type guy and he exceeded my expectations. Of course I also picked the absolutely useless Caveman Lee on my team. Because I came in as an expansion club I opted for fighters that gave me a puncher's chance. Since most of them were also chinny I addition to leading the world in KO wins I think I also led in stoppage losses.

Sure paid my dues as an expansion club, but I did manage to win a conference title. Don't know if that was a credit to my judgement of talent or being lucky enough to have a stud like Archie Moore on the club. Did have to juggle my roster around with Moore and Ricardo Lopez as well as three 9 rated guys for the last go round.
C'mon guys, the only reason I got into this in the first place was so you would have someone to beat up on.

Lola Montez is really old school. I tip my tam to this choice. Reminds me of the Flashman novels.

Unstable ready to go to war.

Was sweating another round with duplicates.

Bears Unstable (bear)
(cap points = 100)

HW
(6)Lou Savarese 0-0-0 *beginner
(3)Lee Savold 0-0-0 *beginner

LHW
(6)Rico Hoye 0-0-0 *beginner
(8)Alvaro Lopez 0-0-0 *beginner

MW
(7)Steve Belloise 0-0-0 *beginner
(6)Eduardo Lausse 0-0-0 *beginner

WW
(7)Kid Azteca 0-0-0 *beginner
(3)Karl-Heinz Guder 0-0-0 *beginner

LW
(5)Andy Ganigan 0-0-0 *beginner
(4)Justin Juuko 0-0-0 *beginner

FW
(8)Ruben Olivares 0-0-0 *beginner
(6)Enrique Sanchez 0-0-0 *beginner

BW
(9)Jose Becerra 0-0-0 *beginner
(4)Rodolfo Martinez 0-0-0 *beginner

Fly
(8)Terry Allen 0-0-0 *beginner
(10)Yoko Gushiken 0-0-0 *beginner

Team captain, Jose Becerra

Home and road trunks will be mainly navy blue or white. Robes will be navy blue primarilly. (Orange will not be a primary color unless we have a Halloween game in Green Bay.)

Faced with seven duplicates from my original selections I was in a quandry. Had I been able to retain 3 of my originals they would have been Basora, Adamick, and Lausse. With three other teams claiming Adamick I had to come to terms about losing him and finding a replacement. Although I realized the need to find a replacement I had to sleep on the problem after thinking of possible solutions. Didn't feel happy with the other 7 rated LHW's other than Oakland Billy Smith. Liked Alvaro lopez a lot more and opted to part with, my only personal favorite Unstabler, Elmer Ray and go for a somewhat similar 6 rated HW. I sent Dan, who had also claimed Ray an email telling him I wouldn't reclaim , but he'd already sent his roster in. Don't know how that played out for him. Went with Savold, my preferred 3 rated HW and forgotten HW title holder. (He was once recognized as such in the UK.) Rounded out LHW with Hoye, who was my old minor league selection in this weight class. At MW I was pleased as punch that no body took Lausse. Selected Graziano, my first choice in the minor league draft as my other guy. (Thought he'd be a suitable replacement for Lausse when KO would retire.) Rocky was a contest choice. In a three way deal with Lee and Matt I ceded Rocky to Lee and got to keep Rodolfo Martinez at BW uncontested. (I had hoped to draft Martinez in the old league but Christopher beat me to the punch and I had to scrabble with my roster to fit in a 5 rated BW. Really did not want to lose the guy again.) I had two guys on a short list to replace the Rock and the coin flip went to Steve Belloise. He's a more versatile box-fighter and has better a CF than Rocky. Power is only one HP lower. Seems like a wash to me. At WW went with Kid Azteca who had a season with me and also made my minor league club in the old league. Filled the spot out with Karl-Heinz Guder a heavy punching 3. At LW went with one of my original guys Justin Juuko and one of my other old hands Andy Ganigan. Both guys ratings have gone up by a point in the new version. Both guys may have made more sense as 3's and 4's but they still may be cap savers. Ganigan was a disputed selection. Tommysixfingers graciously ceded him to me when he realized he had been on my old roster. Tommy's courtesy in this wont be forgotten by me and he can count on a future favor from this corner. At FW I went with one of my old hands, Enrique Sanchez, who I was happy to get back uncontested. Chalky Wright was my first choice here. Received an offer for a draft pick to cede the rights to Wright and opted to do so. Accepting this trade offer forced me to settle for Ruben Olivares. I won't be getting my crying towel out for losing out on Wright. At BW the Unstable's initial star, Jose Basora, returns as team captain. Martinez, who has been mentioned already, completes this weight class. Unstable has never had a 10 on its roster and this honor goes to FLY Yoko Gushiken. My other selection, Beibis Mendoza was contested. Received another draft pick offer and ceded the choice. I departed from my usual pattern of picking bangers and went with an Icetea type of choice. Guy with the best CF, PL, and Def, boxer Terry Allen. Allen is the first boxer to ever make an Unstable roster. I figure he should be able to earn enough UD's versus lesser rated guys to offset his lack of pure power and be otherwise annoying to the higher rated bangers in this divison.

Let the games begin.

My line up is set ... got all but 2 that I wanted ... made sure one wasn't in the league at all and got an extra first round pick for the other one. Two first round picks in the first draft will be valuable.

Am hopeful to have original Beaver Ike Ibeabuchi back for the new era of UTBA.

Thanks Baltimore!
That must have been when the Orioles started 0 and 21! I am determined that I won't start 0-21 in this league, and I believe that the Os are at or above 500 so far this year. Oriole magic, hear it happen! Bink fever, catch it; you'll only wish you died!
