3 more rosters made the cut and are now official:
The Villebillies and Iceteaboxing need to make a small correction and then all 24 rosters should be set to go. |

Stockholm’s pre-season report
HW Corrie Sanders (7) and Denis Boytsov (4) Corrie is expected to perform well for us. He’s got fast hands and I expect him to match 8-9 rated fighters quite well. In a former universe of mine Sanders made short work of both Ike Ibeabuchi and Sam Peters. It wasn’t an easy decision to go with Sanders instead of old captain Ingemar Johansson but I believe that Sanders has an edge over Ingo. Denis Boytsov packs a punch and he might be able to rock some of the higher rated boxers if he connects. Nothing big is expected from him but any “extra” point. that he could steal would be a welcome one. *Look out for: Sanders and Boytsov will have to face former captain Johansson in the first round of the season. LHW Michael Moorer (10) and Mehdi Sahnoune (6) Moorer is the highest rated fighter on the team and he has a big burden to carry as great things are expected from him. Moorer hits like a mule kicks and he should be well capable to beat just about anyone in the LHW division., at least in the first season. Over a whole career he should be able to give anyone in the division a good run for the money. Sahnoune is a pretty decent backup for Moorer and he is also expected to do fairly well in the first season. MW Willie Gibbs (5) and Tom Thomas (3) The MW division is packed with talent and nothing much is expected from Gibbs and Thomas. If the can manage to steal a point here and there I will be content with them. WW Ramon Campas (8) and Jose Baret (3) Hard to say how Campas will do. I have fairly high hopes for him but I know that his defence is a bit weak and he is likely to suffer a KO or two. On the other hand Campas can throw a bomb or two himself. Again, hard to predict. Baret is the meat that fills the MW plate. LW Rafael Ruelas (5) and Herb McKell (4) The same goes for the Welterweights as for the MW’s. No miracles are expected here. Ruelas could be good for an upset or two but nothing else. McKell fills out the slots. FW Alejandro Gonzalez (8) and Barry McGuigan (8) This is a pair that I expect big things from. McGuigan is one of the hardest hitters in the league and Gonzalez packs some power also. If the team is going to be successful both of the two featherweights have to deliver on a constant basis. BW Akeem Anifowoshe (8) and Veeraphol Sahaprom (7) The same goes for this pair as for the one above. The fan favourite Anifowoshe is back on the team this season. Anifowoshe briefly held the title last time around and he performed very well overall, being a reliable points earner. Sahaprom is a very 2nd and he should be able to give higher rated fighters a run for their money. “Deathmask” is a cool fighter that rarely looses his composure. Fly Yuri Arbachakov (9) and Evert Briceno (5) Yuri Arbachakov is another former champion and fan favourite that is still on the team. He is one of the best Flyweights around and he is expected to be in the absolute top of the division at the end of the season. Rugged Evert Briceno’s never die attitude gets him a spot on the team once more. I consider Briceno to be well worth the 5 points he ties up and he is no pushover no matter what fighter he is faced against.

I'm currently working on the new rules for the UTBA II, changing the schedule just a little to accommodate two conferences including nonconference matches and waiting to see if there will be anymore input on the adjusted scoring that Dave proposed in another thread before we ring the bell.
On the scoring adjustment proposal thread and looking at the discussion that's been there, 8 are in favor of the adjustment and 4 are opposed. It would be nice to get this league rolling over Memorial weekend. I'll announce an official start date by May 22, 2008. |

If I don't do really well from the get-go, I'm screwed, having mortgaged my entire future on Darchinyan, Caballero and Cotton.
We'll see how that plays out. Hindsight always being more clearly magnified, I think I mightta gone a different route, but that's just a stagnant pool of water at this point.

Giving my trading propensity, I'll have over half the league rooting against me by the time the season's over, because they own my draft picks, and the other half rooting against me because they didn't get in on the bonanza! ![]()

Presenting the "new" Tomato City roster representing the good people of the Greater New Haven area of southern Connecticut...
Tomato City (Romultiltus) (cap points = 100) HW (8)Lee Ramage 0-0-0 *beginner (7)Alexander Zolkin 0-0-0 *beginner LHW (6)Billy Fox 0-0-0 *beginner (7)George Gardiner 0-0-0 *beginner MW (6)Anton Raadik 0-0-0 *beginner (8)Artie Towne 0-0-0 *beginner WW (6)Mark Breland 0-0-0 *beginner (5)Paul Fujii 0-0-0 *beginner LW (5)Saleman Itti-Aanuchit 0-0-0 *beginner (4)Juan Zurita 0-0-0 *beginner FW (9)Eugene Criqui 0-0-0 *beginner (8)Davey Moore 0-0-0 *beginner BW (6)Tancy Lee 0-0-0 *beginner (3)Jack Kid Madden 0-0-0 *beginner Fly (6)Alberto Jimenez 0-0-0 *beginner (6)Asawin Sordusit 0-0-0 *beginner This version of the squad includes only 2 UTBA-I Season 5 holdovers in Anton Raadik and Mark Breland. Solid mid-range fighters in the previous league, I'm hoping to have them anchor the team in UTBA-II. I also wanted to bring back a few former members of the team that performed well in the old league - George Gardiner, Billy Fox and Juan Zurita. That leaves the roster with 11 new faces to debut with the Tomatoes. No big 10-rated guy on the team for now. I'm banking on strong performances by FW Eugene Crique and Davey Moore. Artie Towne has been brought in to replace Paul Pender who did perform great for me in the past and I chose Saleman Itti-Aanuchit in hoping to add to the list of names that Scot (SAL) will dread writing over and over again... As for the rest, its going to be a crap shoot, but I'm hoping to at least contend for a wild-card spot.

It looks like you and I tried a similar approach Dave, nothing too flashy but a team that will hopefully do enough against our opponents' bottom halves to overcome the lack of any real show stoppers at the top. I didn't even take a 9 but at the other end only have two 4s and no 3s.
I also grabbed a name (Kiatwanchai) that Scot will hate by the end of the season but you will likely take the prize in that department over me.
