I'll post the free agent awards later this evening and start Season 2.

Just a reminder, the current draft/free agent pool is posted on page one/post #1 of the utba draft thread along with the waiver rank.

Season 2

The opening bell will sound in one hour to kick off season two of the UTBA.

* Announcements:

1) The trade and free agent wire is now closed. They both will open again on Wednesday 2006/09/06 @ 6:00pm CST.

2) Free Agent awards.
The Hebron Haymakers are the first and only team so far to take part in the free agent system. I find this hard to believe.
The Haymakers add HW (6)Randall "Tex" Cobb 4-9-1 (2) and FW (3)Joe Tetteh 3-11-0 (1) to their roster and release HW Buddy Baer 4-10-0 (2) and FW Jorge Solis 4-10-0 (3) to the draft/free agent pool.

Let's get ready to rumble.....................
First up, UTBA Team Champion, Bonner Springs Bald Beavers travel to England to face the Tile Hill Top Team.
*note(all of the Beavers fighters will be fighting with champion bias selected)

Wait, you mean that Conn Chris made a move colored me shocked. Never would have expected him to make some kind of roster move, nope never.

I thought about adding Cobb .. but figured he wasn't any better than Weaver.

Chris may not win more than 5 bouts at FW

I would have liked to keep 'ole Tex, but I felt I Ron Lyle was a good improvement. Glad to see him given another shot. Maybe he'll fare better in the Silver Conference

Well, lucky for me I won't see you until the first round of the playoffs at earliest so I can keep mocking you in safety.

No, probably not but hey if you manage to do it that will be the single greatest accomplishment that will ever be seen in the UTBA.

Also I will not make any announcements as to when any new fighters have been added to the draft/free agent pool. Everyone will have to keep an eye out for any new additions to the pool.

I must have mistook what you said earlier, my apologies. That sounds fine to me.

Looking forward to the new year!

Season 2 underway.................

Just a note before we begin. The last time I spoke with umk, he said if I keep the weekly schedule that he would probably be able to keep up and keep his utba web page up to date with the bout logs and everything. On to season 2.

September 4,2006: Ricoh Arena, Foleshill, Coventry, England
Bonner Springs Bald Beavers vs. Tile Hill Top Team
UTBA Team Champion Bald Beavers started defense of their team title as they were looking to make easy work of the hosting Hilltoppers. They had a tougher time than planned as the Hilltoppers were game and looking for the upset. If it wasn't for the Beaver's MW champ, this match would have been to close to call.

Scoreboard:
Bonner Springs Bald Beavers 17-13-2 (6) = 42
Tile Hill Top Team 13-17-2 (6) = 34

Championship bouts:
Middleweight Champion Mickey Walker defended his crown two times successfully and retained his title belt.

Here we go the start of the season baby. Tile Hill gave Bonnar Springs a heck of a fight there hopefully thats a sign that the Breavers have sliden back into the pack abit more.

Punching Gatitos vs Bears Unstable - round 1

September 4,2006: Paradise City AC
Punching Gatitos vs Bears Unstable

The Gatitos traveled from England to face the expansion team Bears Unstable and were looking for a good start in season 2. That's exactly what the Gatitos did as they had no problem handling the inexperienced Bears team. The Bears were respectable in their loss though showing the league that they better have their game face on when they face the Bears. It looks like the Bears Unstable motto will be, we'll knock you out or we'll be knocked out. Welcome to the UTBA Bears Unstable.

Heck of a first showing from the Bears espically from their lighter weightclasses, they had a nice little winning streak to end the match. According to the schelude the only match that matters is up next, Muckboys vs Tomato City for who gets the early lead on the West division should be a war.

The win by the Gatitos put them in first place in the East division, 3 points ahead of the defending UTBA Team Champions.
