Worldwide Boxing Association - WWBA

Okay i am going to make a stab at a dynasty. I will use just the heavyweight division and start in 1960 using fighter who debuted in 1960-1963 as well as some fighters from the fifties. We will introduce new fighters each year based on their debut as well as bring some guys in from the fifties.

Here are the regional titles we will have a fighter can be eligible for these titles from their 10th thur their 30th fight. They must give up their title in order to compete for a World title. I will use many of the guidelines in the post by MH. Who has helped me immensely in getting things going.

EBU(European Boxing Union) - European including England until we have more fighters to qualify for the BCBF - added Africa here since i only have two fighter that would qualify for the OPAF
USBA(United States Boxing Association) - USA and Canada
LABA(Latin American Boxing Association) - Latin American
OPAF(Oriental Pacific African Boxing Fed) - Aus, NZ and Asia - added Africa until there are more fighters -
ABF(African Boxing Federation) - Africa - pending a more fighters
BCBF(British & Commonwealth Boxing Federation) -

Well since this was a month of all mataches vs Tomato Cans there was only one match of note.

Manuel Ramos (5) of Mexico vs Bobo Renfro (2) US

Not sure how Renfro got into the Tomato Cans category (have to fix that). Nevertheless Bobo shocked Ramos by knocking him down 3 times and finally knocking him out in the 7th round. Ramos is rated far better than Bobo but tonight it was not to be.

Other than this fight the good fighters one and some of the lower rated fighters lost vs the Tomato Cans. Tomorrow we will see what February has to offer.

February 1960

All of the matches were vs Tomato Cans again but once again there were a couple of upsets. FYI the number in parentheses is the fighters rating.

Ullis Nitschke (5) vs Justo Benitez (1)

What should have been an easy fight for Nitschke was not. Benitez who is from Argentina kept Nitschke off balance all match. The fight which was fought in Nurnburg, Germany should have given Nitschke the home crowd but a dissappointed German crowd was booing Nitschke by the end of the of the fight. The judges decided it was a unanimous decision in Benitez favor.

On to March. Still no Ali or Peralta sightings hopefully they will make an appearance in March.

Just checked out bobo in my uni .. he has never been randomly selected to fight ... he is a 2 and his hp is 11. I dropped the hp down to 9 and it made him a 1

Ah that could be it. I decided to move him from the TCs to the beginners and see how it plays out. I kinda like his name so we will see what happens.

March 1960

Another month and another upset by a TC. This time the victim is Chuck Leslie.

Chuck Leslie (4) vs Dainial Ratty (1)

This was Leslie's first fight and he showed he was not ready. Ratty being another TC on a mission took Leslie the distance. The judges decided that Ratty had done enough to win the fight. Yet another upset on a 4 or 5 rated fighter.

In other news Leotis Martin from the US extended his record to 3-0 with 2 KOs. April will officially be the month that Mohammed Ali gets his first fight.

Gregorio Peralti won his first fight knocking out fellow Argentinian Pablo Sagrispanti in the 6th round.

April 1960

Muhammed Ali (15) VS Colin Beatty (1)

Ali's first fight went as expected. While Beatty put up a fight in the first round he was clearly outclassed. Ali sent Beatty to the canvas twice in the second round and put Beatty out of his misery with 33 seconds left in the 3rd round.

Upsets:

Ray Patterson (4) vs Robert Smythe (1)

Patterson who is the younger brother of Floyd Patterson had lost his first fight to Takao Okudo of Japan in a 10 round unanimous decision. His second fight proved no better. Smythe took the fight the full 10 rounds and came away with a 10 round Split decision. Patterson has been disappointing so far but it is still early in his career.

Roberto Davila (4) Peru vs Vlad Glick (1) Moldova

Davila was 2-0 and had one both fights by a majority decision. His fight with Glick would not go so well. Davila who appeared to be cruising thru the first 3 rounds was disqualified in the 4th giving Glick the win.

Winnners:

Wilhelm Von Homburg of Germany won his third straight fight knocking out Artur Njos of Norway in the 4th round. None of Wilhelm's oponents have made it past the 4th round yet.

May 1960

Winners:

Jimmy Ellis extends his record to 3-0 with 3 KOs beating Allejandro Gallardo from Argentina with a 4th round knockout.

Leotis Martin moved to 4-0 (2) beating Miguel Carranza with a 10 round unanimous decision.

Upsets:

Ray Patterson (0-2) vs Ron Murray (0-0)

Patterson hoped to get things back on track after losing his first 2 fights. Murray fighting for the first time almost ended things in the 2nd round when he sent Patterson to the canvas. Patterson just escaped the knockout by getting up as the referee reached eight. Patterson is now 0-3 versus easy opponents and may not recover from this start.

Wow, things are moving along rather quickly in your universe, ahha.

I'm still busy simming my first month (I schedule on a weekly basis).

June 1960

Winners:

Leotis Martin moved to 5-0 (3) with 2nd round TKO of Canadian Danny Bordeur.

Gregorio Peralta 2-0 (1) was taken the distance by DJ Canterbury from the US. This was a runaway victory by Peralta on all judges cards but one has to wonder how he will fare when he sees some tougher competition.

Doug Jones of the US took his record to 4-0 (3) with a 2nd round KO of Bendt Wiuff from Denmark (nice name).

Elmer Rush moved his record to 4-0 (3) with a 1st round knockout of Arvydas Galakteras.

Upsets:

Thad Spencer (4) vs Ziven Vitkovskaya (TC)

Spencer was out in front on points going into the 8th round. Thad's problem was he had been cut 3 times already and in the 8th Ziven cut him again. The ref and the ringside doctor decided Thad was done and gave Ziven the victory via and 8th round TKO. Tough break.

July 1960

Muhammed Ali 1-0 (1) vs Pablo Sagrispanti 0-1

Well Mr Ali did what he was supposed to in taking Pablo out with a 2nd round TKO.

Winners:

Leotis Martin moved to 6-0 (4) with a 3rd round TKO of Larold Barrell. Martin has been on a tear against the stiffs and looks to be ready to challange for the USBA title after a few more fights.

Fellow workhorse Doug Jones 5-0 (4) had no problem with Ekon Onyali taking him out with a 6th round TKO. The US fighters are looking solid and should make for a strong USBA tourney.

Plino Scarabellin and Karl Mildenberger both moved to 4-0 with unanimous decisions. Elmer Rush moved to 4-0 (3) with a first round knockout of his stiff.

Upsets:

This is the first month there were no real upsets.

Movement:

Roberto Davila 3-2-1 of Peru became the first fighter to move to pre-prime

August 1960

Winners:

Leotis Martin moved to 7-0 (5) with a 2nd round KO against Rudolph Fortune. Martin moved to pre-prime with this fight.

Jimmy Ellis moved to 4-0 (4) with a 2nd round knockout of Pablo Sagrispanti. Another very good US fighter that will compete with Ali for the title as well as possibly compete for a World title.

Doung Jones 6-0 (5) keeps getting better this time knocking his opponent out in the 2nd round. Wow there seems to be a pattern here.

Wilhelm Von Homburg and Karl Mildenberger both advanced their records to 4-0 and look to be future competitors for the EBU title.

Ray Patterson 1-3 got his first win with a 10 round split decision over Hall Rolston.

Upsets:

Really nothing to speak of here.

Movement:

Leotis Martin moved to pre-prime.
