Thanks for all the comments guys. Happy New Year to you all.

I'm off out for the day, but I'll hopefully release details of the eighth fighter sometime this evening. Romy's on the right track. He's an early UFC fighter, and it's not another Gracie.
Stay tuned..

BLASPHEMY!!!

Maybe Abbot or Zinoviev then?...I would also see loudmouth Emin Boztepe in a match against a real fighter.

Your right no Joe Son it wouldn't be fair to the other fighters to including such a unstoppable force in this tournament.

Tank would be fun but I don't think he has real chance of beating anyone on the list barring him landing a haymaker.

Sperry would love another chance at Zinoviev I'm sure but I wonder if Zinoviev faces off against Shamrock if he'll start having flashbacks to what Frank did to him.

I wouldn't say that Joe Son is the only unstoppable fighter out there. I think it's a tie between him and and the lethal Wing Chun fighter Asbel Cancio. Did you know that Cancio had supernatural powers? He could drown you in a pool of his own blood!

I doubt that Igor remember much at all after the mother of all slams...

Ha, what we need is a Joe Son vs Asbel Cancio superfight for the main event of the tournment to determine who is the greatest fighter of all time. Cancio blood drowning skills verus Joe Son's balls of steel who will come out on top.

No, Igor probably didn't remember much at all but hey just hearing the name Shamrock might be all thats needed to bring those memories back.

As for the eighth fighter maybe Marcos Ruas he'd be a huge threat for sure or if Ian wants to be sneaky Kazushi Sakuraba could be it as he did fight in a early UFC, of course he's not a HW but an open weight tournament would fit the old days well.

Hi guys, I'm going to put you out of your misery and announce the eighth fighter. I've enjoyed reading your posts and I really appreciate it. It's also bought out a smile on my face with some of it... Joe Son v Asbel Cancio...now there's a thought
Anyway, get ready, cause the eighth man is about to be announced [roll the drums]...

Press release from the GLOBAL FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS {GFC}

Mitch Brown;

After much searching, we finally found our eighth and last contestant, and I tell you now, he's one scary dude. He claims to be a pit-fighting expert. I must admit, when I heard the term pit-fighting, I'd never heard of it and didn't know what the hell it meant. Was it an Asian fighting art? A South American art? I didn't have a clue. Turned out it was neither. This is a guy who said he learnt his fighting on the streets of Huntingdon Beach, California. He's a streetfighter. He's got thirteen convictions for violence, including one for attempted murder, and oh, by the way, he's got a degree in history. His name's David 'Tank' Abbott, and he says he's here to win.

Pitfighting - another term for street fighting, as used by Tank Abbott.

Tank Abbott:

It should be interesting to see how Tank does in this. I don't think he'll to hot considering he's 0-3 against people in this tournament.

I ran this through the NHB simulator and the last two standing i got was Coleman and Abbott, with Coleman winning via KO with ground strikes in round 1.
I wonder how accurate the results from the simulator are...

It'll be interesting to see if the NHB simulator is right or not. I personally don't think we'll see that final as I don't like Abbott's chances of advancing that far. Coleman could make it if he doesn't end up matched against Rickson or Sperry as his sub def has never been the greatest. Plus, Mark has never had the greatest of gas tanks either.

Guys, I've played out all the fights for the tournament, but as this uni is going to run alongside my GBA boxing uni, you'll have to wait until March [game time], to read it. That won't be long. However, in the meantime feel free to post any comments/predictions. I love reading them.
Cheers for the interest.

Yeah I thought that Abbott reaching the finals was hard to believe so I ran another simulation, and this time, It was Coleman vs Taktarov for the finals, and again, Coleman dominates the fight winning via Ref stoppage in round 1.

But I don't know the exact brackets for this tournament, so it's hard to say if this will be accurate

Umk, which NHB simulator do you use?
I will try and get the tournament brackets posted up for you over the weekend.
All the best,
Ian.

All the best,

I'm guessing he's using the NHB Simulator. Here's the link

http://nhb.50webs.com/

Can't wait to see the brackets. Question what kind of rules are we looking at here are they the old school UFC rules or more modern and what are they fighting in a ring or cage?

I'm currently using the old school UFC rules fighting in the octagon.

Cool, I had been wondering about that. From the stuff I've read about this game on it's site it seems to be really cool, hopefully, it's as accurate and realistic as they claim.

Here are the brackets for the Global Fighting Championships, to be held in March, 2007. Exact date and location TBA.

Round 1

A. Tank Abbott v Oleg Taktarov
B. Mark Coleman v Mario Sperry
C. Don Frye v Maurice Smith
D. Rickson Gracie v Ken Shamrock

Semi-Final

Winner A v Winner B
Winner C v Winner D

Final

Winer A v Winner B

As an interesting aside, UFC fighter Jeff Monson featured in our local paper tonight. He is to marry a 21 year old Coventry lady. She met the UFC fighter while she was working as a waitress at a cage fighting event in Coventry.
