The problem for Stankovich is that the next step is probably going to be too much for him unless i find a weak chin somewhere.

IBF & WBO World Title fights this month...

IBF Champion, Cliff "HUGE" Hughes, USA, 21-0-0 (20) will defend his title against [IBF5/World11] Jack Dempsey, USA, 24-4-0 (22) later this month.

WBO Champion, Joe Louis will make his 9th title defense against [WBO2/World8] Rocky Marciano, Italy, 24-4-0 (23), also later this month. This will be the second time that the fighters have met, with Louis winning the first bout by (UD15) on 1952-08-30, in Atlantic City, NJ, USA. Louis had Marciano down twice in that fight.

DIVS-Ekaterinburg, Ekaterinburg, Russia

Kelly Pavlik, Slovakia, 5-0-0 (5) vs Rex Romus, Russia, 7-2-0 (5)

The main event of the evening pits the visiting, undefeated, hard-hitting, Slovakian, Kelly Pavlik versus Russia's own, Rex Romus. Both fighters square off at center ring and exchange punishing blows with Pavlik getting the better of it here in the first, 12-6. Romus and Pavlik clash heads and Romus is cut in the 2nd round. The referee rules an intentional head-butt and deducts a point from Pavlik. All Pavlik, all third round, 23-6. Romus has a large mouse under his eye as well as the bad cut. The Ghost, again, 22-4, in the 4th. Romus is unable to stop Pavlik from coming forward. Romus' face is a mess, Pavlik continues the pressure and takes rounds 6 and 7. That's it, the ref finally stops the fight due to the cut over Romus' eye, as the displeasure from the crowd can be overheard in the arena.

Winner: Pavlik
Result: (TKO7)(Cuts)
Cards: 58-55, 59-54, 59-54, all three cards in favor of Pavlik
Punch stats: 85-370, 23% Romus - 232-415, 55.9% Pavlik

The Pavilions, Milbay Road, Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom

Joe Bugner, England, 18-5-0 (15) vs Clarence Henry, USA, 14-2-0 (10)

The fans are ready for the main event this evening as they cheer for their man, Joe Bugner. Clarence Henry has come across the pond to try to take on the tall task of trying to win in Bugner's backyard. Henry starts off quick but Bugner finishes strong, 12-5, in the 1st. 26-8, Bugner in the 2nd. Bugner is all over Henry, 14-1, for the second round in a row. Bugner gets caught against the ropes in the 4th and pays the price, 18-6. Henry, 17-12, in the 5th. The crowd cheers a great round for Bugner, 21-4, in the 6th. Both men are trading shots as Bugner now has some swelling around the right eye. The swelling around Henry's right eye is a concern for his cornermen between rounds. The 8th round gets underway as Bugner lands routinely as Henry is caught in the corner. Bugner is relentless but the ref steps in. Not a good time to stop the action as Bugner was all over his man. The physician is checking Henry's eye, and it looks like the ref has stopped the fight.

Winner: Bugner
Result: (TKO8)
Cards: 67-66, on all three cards in favor of Bugner
Punch stats: 163-304, 53.6% Henry - 258-618, 41.7% Bugner

San Siro Stadium, Milan, Italy

Jake LaMotta, Italy, 1-0-0 vs Benito Confin, Italy, 1-0-0

We have a good main event fight tonight as two undefeated boxers square off here in Milan, Italy. Both fighters are very good defensive boxers and technically skilled in all areas in the square. LaMotta lands a right cross that not only stunned Confin, but opened up a cut outside the left eye. LaMotta presses forward and takes the 1st round convincingly, 26-4. The 2nd round is more of the same as LaMotta continues to stick and move away from any harm by Confin, 20-4. Confin is down in the 3rd from a combination of punches. Confin cannot get off the canvas in time and this fight is over.

Winner: LaMotta
Result: (KO3)
Cards: 20-18, on all three cards in favor of LaMotta
Punch stats: 18-18, 100% Confin - 189-268, 70.5% LaMotta

CABO Championship Fight/Stevenson-Langford II at Havana Nights - Cristal Arena, Havana, Cuba

[Champion] Teofilo Stevenson, Cuba, 23-5-0 (21) vs [CABO#1] Sam Langford, Canada, 22-5-0 (21)

I cannot even hold my pen or microphone right now because I am afraid of being shocked from all the electricity that is flowing throughout this jam-packed arena. This is Stevenson-Langford II, for the CABO Championship here in Havana, Cuba. Langford won the first meeting between these two fighters by way of (TKO6) on 1953-07-31, in Toronto, ON, Canada, and retained his WHBA title. Langford is ranked #15 in the world and is the #1 ranked CABO contender. Stevenson is ranked #19 in the world and is making his 5th title defense. Wow, what action here in the opening round. If the fight is going to go like this, I want a rematch already. The fight is at the middle of the ring as Langford gets off first. Stevenson battles back and lands a cross that Langford didnt see coming. Langford is down at the end of the 1st. Whoa, I thought it was over, but Sam took the whole 9 seconds to get his mind right. Bothe fighters go to their corners. Langford unloads in the 2nd, 23-4, as he obviously shook off the last round and charges forward, hurting the champ with an onslaught of different punches. 14-7, the challenger in round 3. The fans cheer as Stevenson lands early in the 4th but Langford rallies in the last minute and leads the round, 14-9. There is some swelling around the left eye of the champion. The 5th is too close to call as both men take a bit of a breather. The second slow round in a row as both fighters do more clinching than punching. 11-3, Langford in the 7th. A big 8th, 19-3, for the champ. Langford misses with a left and gets caught with a shot that puts him down, 20-4, Savon in the 9th. Langford responds in the 10th, 15-8. Langford presses the issue from the start of round 11 and Stevenson is hurt. Stevenson is against the ropes and is getting hammered. The champion better respond or the fight could be stopped. There is no response as the champion is slumped against the ropes. A dramatic turn of events as Sam Langford comes to Cuba, gets knocked down twice, and manages to pummel the champion into submission! Sam Langford is the new CABO Champion and brings the belt back to Canada.

Winner: Langford
Result: (TKO11)
Cards: 95-93, 97-92, 95-94, all three cards in favor of Stevenson
Punch stats: 224-601, 37.3% Stevenson - 298-593, 50.3% Langford

Felix Savon, Cuba, 15-1-0 (13) vs Jose Giorgetti, Argentina, 15-2-0 (14)

Kid Tutara travels down from Argentina to face the former CNBF champion, Felix Savon. Last month, the Cuban fighters went to Argentina as had a good showing but this will be a very interesting fight between two, top-ranked CABO fighters. There is a lot of excitement in the arena for this fight and the lead up to the CABO Championship fight in the main event. Savon starts off slow again but takes the 2nd round, 16-5. After the 4th, it looks like it is 2-2, after Giorgetti takes the last round. Savon stays at center ring and outboxes Giorgetti in the 5th, 16-5. 12-4, Savon in the 6th. A big uppercut shakes Giorgetti in the 7th. Savon scores a knockdown in the 8th as Giorgetti gets up at the count of nine. Another knockdown at the end of the round, 35-5, for Savon, but the Argentinian survives the round. Savon still looks strong as we head to the 11th. Giorgetti has swelling around the left eye and looks beaten up. Giorgetti is down again in the 11th, 29-7, for Savon. How is Giorgetti able to continue as Savon puts him down again in the 12th. Another knockdown at the end of the round finally ends the fight at the 2:25 mark of the 12th.

Winner: Savon
Result: (KO12)
Cards: 107-98, 108-98, 107-98, all three cards in favor of Savon
Punch stats: 127-696, 18.2% Giorgetti - 359-813, 44.2% Savon

Yuriorkis Gamboa, Cuba, 1-0-0 (1) (TKO12) Guillermo Ortega*, 0-1-0

Luis Manuel Rodriguez, Cuba, 1-0-0 (1) (UD15) Ronaldo Costello*, Cuba, 1-0-0 (1)

Cubias "El Muerte Negro" LaCiar, Cuba, 1-0-0 (KO2) Leon Azzi, Cuba, 0-1-0

Rafael Pedro, Cuba, 3-1-0 (1) (UD15) Pedrito Esquival*, Cuba, 1-0-0

A much needed win by Bugner and a solid performance from Lamotta. A good day.

I hear ya, but lets hope that Stanky can keep landing first, because he still has that one punch-knockout power to win a fight.

Maybe Bugner's bad luck has disappeared. Just think of where he would have been in the rankings without those fluke losses? LaMotta is going to have a nice run, but Italy is getting stronger and stronger with all the big amateurs turning pro at the same time. Should make for some interesting match making as you head up the rankings.

Coliseo Olimpico de la UG, Guadalajara, JAL, Mexico

[Champion] Erik Morales, Mexico, 11-1-0 (10) vs [FECOMBOX#1] David Cabrera, Mexico, 8-2-0 (8)

David "Maceton" Cabrera will move up from his usual light-heavyweight competition to challenge newly crowned FECOMBOX Champion, Erik Morales for the title. Cabrera has fought most of his fights at the lower division but has recently found that losing the required weight is not as easy and has fought his last few fights up here with the big boys. Morales, 11-2 in the first round, but Cabrera lands a punch that opens up a cut to end the round. Cabrera is impressive in the 2nd and 3rd rounds but Morales launches an all-out offensive attack concerned with his worsening cut over the right eye. Cabrera's left jab reopened the cut and the ringside physician has come to the apron. The fight is being stopped and is going to be ruled a Technical Draw.

Winner: N/A
Result: (TechDraw4)
Cards: 29-28 Cabrera, 29-28 Cabrera, 29-29
Punch stats: 77-134, 57.5% Cabrera - 96-266, 36.1% Morales

Salvador Sanchez, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1) vs Anando Davila*, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1)

We have a good warm-up fight to the main event as two undefeated Mexican prospects meet here tonight. Sanchez blocks a jab from Davila and puts a left hook to the body that drops him to one knee. Davila is up but gets caught again and cannot get up from this punch as Sanchez remains undefeated at 2-0,

Winner: Sanchez
Result: (KO1)
Cards: N/A
Punch stats: 6-6, 100% Davila - 44-64, 68.8% Sanchez

Carlos Zarate, Mexico, Pro Debut (TKO2) Jorge Aragon*, Mexico, 0-1-0

Marco Antonio Barrera, 5-0-0 (4) (TKO1) Luis Espinoza*, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1)

Juan Diaz, Mexico, 4-0-0 (4) (UD15) Marcial Hurtado*, Mexico, 2-0-0

Jose Luis Castillo, Mexico, 6-0-0 (4) (TKO1) Armando Quintana*, 2-1-0
*Quintana is a rated "zero" RFG fighter that puts Castillo away!

Ricardo Lopez, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1) (TKO1) Antonio Arias*, Mexico, 1-1-0

Bobby Chacon, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1) (KO3) Venancio Fernandez, Mexico, Pro Debut

Curious what your Gamboa rating looks like ... I'm afraid to rate him at this point for fear of going all Joel Julio over him

Speaking of which Julio's loss to Quintana looks a lot better now than it did before.

Keeping him around a "6" right now. Will want to see more of him as he faces better competition but he seems to have some great skills, which are expected from a Cuban fighter. He is quick, has good hand speed, seems pretty accurate and hits with power. Will like to see how he responds to getting hit by a good punch and how his endurance is after getting hit to the body and going past a few rounds. I think he has a bright future though. Kind of rating him like a Khan or Joe Greene for right now, even though I believe he will eventually be better than both of them.

Quintana is just like the energizer bunny, just keeps going. Always shows up in shape, takes a punch to throw a punch, gives a good performance and always gives his opponent a tough fight. I would not schedule him if I were a fighters promoter. Too tough an opponent. I agree with the Julio point.

Yes, it is a murderous country to have to fight in with all the great fighters. The region was really weak until I started importing the "little great HW's" wink. Now, the CABO region is full of fighters that will climb the rankings and probably start challenging the U.S. fighters for world titles.

Like the picture of the dog, btw.

Sorry to hear about him. I have two little ones now that we got a house. Was in an apartment for awhile. My family has always had dogs and I know that it is very hard to lose a family pet. I lost a little chinchilla last year that I had for 13 years and it was quite depressing. Bruiser looks like he would enjoy watching a good heavyweight fight on the sofa with you.

Arguello comes back home with a win over Seaman...

Alexis Arguello, Nicaragua, 7-1-0 (7) vs Cowboy Seaman, Canada, 6-3-0 (2)

Goose Bay, Canada. Arguello lands a one-two combo that opens up a cut on the inside of Seaman's mouth enroute to an easy, first three rounds. Arguello is having no troubles landing from the outside and scoring on the inside. A hard combination puts Seaman down at the end of the 5th round. Both of Seaman's eyes are swelling up pretty bad. Another combination of blows knocks Seaman into the ropes and on the canvas. 19-2, in the 7th for Arguello. Seaman finally wins a round, maybe, 11-10, in the 8th. The fight has been stopped here in the 9th as Seaman's face is a bloody mess and he is having trouble seeing out of his eyes.

Winner: Arguello
Result: (TKO9)
Cards: 79-71, 79-71, 78-72, all three cards in favor of Arguello
Punch stats: 138-357, 38.7% Seaman - 288-671, 42.9% Arguello
