Hope your brother gets another dog to keep the one left some company. Its always good to have a friend around. We initially got only one, but he is so active and playful that we felt it would be better for him to have a brother to play around with.

Will put the rematch down on the schedule.

Damn, just saw that you actually got a time-out from Chris! Hilarious!

Probably deserved one the day before I actually got it. I shouldn't have let myself go down that road.

North American Boxing Federation Championship

NABF Title Fight - Dreamland Rink, San Francisco, CA, USA

[Interim Champ] Gene Tunney, USA, 19-4-0 (11) vs [NABF#1] Harry Matthews, USA, 21-6-0 (19)

This is the inaugural NABF Title Fight. The NABF has taken over the operations of the previous governing body of the WHBA. Gene Tunney was the champion of the WHBA at the time of the merger, so he was named interim champion and required to fight the number one ranked contender. Tunney looks to work the body of Kid Matthews from the get go and keeps him on the defensive. Tunney wasnt even touched that round, 20-0, in the 1st. Matthews lands two wicked hooks that round that seemed to faze Tunney but fails to follow-up, 8-2, in the 2nd. 17-11, for Tunney in the 3rd. The 4th is too close to call, but it does seem as though Matthews is landing the harder punches of the two. Round 5 goes in favor of the champ, 11-2. A nice exchange while Tunney is in the corner, as Matthews wins that round, 11-2. Matthews seems to be slowing down, 17-3, Tunney in the 9th. The Fighting Marine has been warned a couple of times for fouls, but the referee take a point from Matthews for leading with his head. 14-7, Matthews in the 12th, but it looks like Tunney is comfortably in the lead, especially with the point deduction. We go to the last round and we believe that Matthews needs a stoppage to win the fight. We go to the cards.

Winner: Tunney
Result: (UD15)
Cards: 146-139, 146-139, 148-137, all three cards in favor of Tunney
Punch stats: 210-957, 21.9% Matthews - 354-771, 45.9% Tunney

British Boxing Council Championship

BBC Title Fight - Wythenshawe Forum, Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, UK

[BBC#2] Jack Gardner, UK, 17-3-1 (16) vs [BBC#3] Herbert Crossley, UK, 10-1-1 (7)

Crossley is at the right place at the right time as he lands a BBC title shot against Jack Gardner for the vacant BBC crown. The fight was originally scheduled as a rematch from the previous draw between BBC Champion, Bob Fitzsimmons and Gardner, but Fitzsimmons and his promoters havent responded to the title demands and the BBC decided to strip him of his belt and named Crossley as the opponent. Gardner unleashes a right hook and Gardner counters. Gardner has a nice 1st round. All Gardner in the 2nd as Crossley is still the counterpuncher. The problem is that Crossley is taking some hard blows before being able to counter. Crossley is down in the 4th and the 5th. Gardner's cuts over both eyes from the earlier rounds seem to be getting worse as his cutman works feverishly in the corner. Crossley also has a cut on his forehead that doesnt look as serious. The 7th gets underway and Crossley peppers Gardner with the jab. Both cuts have reopened and the doctor has approached the top of the apron. That is it, the fight has been stopped due to cuts and Crossley has taken full advantage of his good fortune to capture the BBC Title!

Winner: Crossley
Result: (TKO7)(Cuts)
Cards: 58-54, 59-54, 58-54, all three cards in favor of Gardner
Punch stats: 162-398, 40.7% Gardner - 168-366, 45.9% Crossley

Sounds like a call-out to me, but if I were in charge of Mancini's career, I would pursue the IBU championship and not worry about it. A "13-12" vs a "7" doesnt look to appealing.

Asian Boxing Council Championship

ABCO Title Fight - Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan

[Champ] Noburu Kataoka, Japan, 14-3-0 (6) vs Sinan Samil Sam, Turkey, 16-3-0 (13)

The champion comes out and takes the first two rounds with sheer aggression. Sam is having trouble dealing with the speed and whirlwind attacks that he is facing. Sam is able to cut off the ring in the 3rd and 4th and the rounds are much closer. 15-9, Sam in the 5th. The 7th and 8th are split but the 9th has Sam's face opened up with a very bloody nose. The 12th starts but it looks like the ref is stopping the fight. I believe that Sam's nose was broken in the 9th round and has worsened to the point where he cannot breathe anymore.

Winner: Kataoka
Result: (TKO12)
Cards: 105-104 Kataoka, 106-103 Sam, 106-103 Sam
Punch stats: 230-711, 32.3% Sam - 269-465, 57.8% Kataoka

Scandinavian Boxing Union Championship

SCANBU Title Fight - Idroetshuset Orebro, Orebro, Sweden

[Champ] Harry Persson, Sweden, 14-1-0 (11) vs Kalle Sundstom, Sweden, 13-3-0 (8)

Persson makes another defense of his title after a surprising win over Ingemar Johansson in his last fight. Persson starts off very slow and is giving rounds away early in this fight. Both fighters are leaving it in the ring but Sundstom seems to be the stronger of the two in the middle rounds. Sundstom is cut in the 9th. Persson has developed some swelling around the left eye. It looks as though Persson is behind as we enter the championship rounds.

Winner: Sundstom
Result: (UD15)
Cards: 146-139, 147-138, 145-140, all three cards in favor of Sundstom
Punch stats: 196-1001, 19.6% Persson - 452-661, 68.4% Sundstom

Continues to surprise the experts. Will be interested to see if he can get by Jirov, most likely next defense and toughest opponent.

Australian National Boxing Federation Championship

ANBF Title Fight - Brisbane Stadium, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

[Champ] George Thompson, Australia, 15-1-0 (7) vs Ken Brady, Australia, 12-5-1 (7)

Thompson has been inactive for a bit but doesnt show much rust as he is throwing punches in strings of combinations. Brady is eating left-right combinations and is having trouble with the champs offense early in this fight. Brady seems to be getting stonger in the middle rounds but is starting to fatigue. Thompson has a big 12th round, 16-5. 17-10, in the 13th for the champ. Brady is cut in the 14th but it shouldnt be a problem with one more round in this championship fight. Brady is able to finish the fight but looks to be way behind on the judge's cards. We go to the judges.

Winner: Thompson
Result: (UD15)
Cards: 147-138, 146-139, 147-138, all three cards in favor of Thompson
Punch stats: 215-1058, 20.3% Brady - 480-980, 49% Thompson

Russian Boxing Federation Championship

RBF Title Fight - DIVS-Ekaterinburg, Ekateringburg, Russia

[Champ] Igor Vysotsky, Russia, 20-1-0 (10) vs Grigory Drozd, Russia, 14-4-0 (10)

Pretty Boy Drozd takes on Igor Vysotsky in tonight's RBF Title fight. Vysotsky scores early in the 1st but is on his heels in the 2nd, 15-8, in favor of Drozd. Drozd is cut from a head butt in the 3rd. It looks like it was an intentional butt as Vysotsky was warned earlier, but there is no signal to the judges. This is a bad looking cut and will cause a lot of problems this early in a fight. The ref does signal that the cut was caused by an intentional butt. Drozd's corner was unable to really stop the bleeding, Drozd has a good 4th, 12-2. Vysotsky pushes Drozd against the ropes and lands to the body and then to the head, 19-4, in the 5th. A jab has reopened the cut at the beginning of the 6th and the doctor comes up to take a look. The fight is stopped. Igor Vysotsky is the winner by TKO.

Winner: Vysotsky
Result: (TKO6)(Cuts)
Cards: 48-47 Vysotsky, 48-47 Drozd, 48-47 Vysotsky
Punch stats: 73-193, 37.8% Drozd - 126-368, 34.2% Vysotsky

Alexis may be a girls name but "Boom Boom" is a stripper name But that's okay I don't expect a fight ... just saying Ray is only ranked because he is white, that's all.

In a recent heart to heart with Miguel Cotto, he said he overlooked Firpo in anticipation of fighting Ruiz .... He said he won't make the same mistake this time and then went on to say something about Ruiz having sand in his vagina ... maybe I misuderstood his broken English.
