Cane breaks Windmill...
Union Cane, USA, 1-0-0 (1) vs. Windmill Pearce, USA, 3-2-0 (2)
Cane is coming off an impressive professional debut and continues to show that he is a fighter to be feared. Pearce is getting pummeled, 18-2, here in the 1st round. Cane is picking apart the defense of Pearce and landing at will. Cane takes the first two rounds with ease. Pearce has lasted longer than most experts predicted but Cane continues to dominate the fight by taking the 3rd. Cane outworks, 11-4, his opponent in the 4th but doesn’t seem to be working as much as he did in the first three rounds. Pearce is cut by a pretty solid punch to start the 5th . The cut is worsened as there is an accidental clash of heads here at the end of the 5th. Cane wins his 6th straight round in our opinion, 10-0, but Pearce taunts him after the round and throws a late punch. The 7th is the best round of the fight so far as both men land some clean punches. Pearce seems to have taken the worst of it and looks shaken to end the round. Cane lands a devastating hook that reopens the cut above Pearce’s eye. The ref steps in and stops the fight. Winner: Cane Result: (TKO8) Cards: 70-63 on all cards in favor of Cane Punch stats: 50% - 16.9% Cane Last edited by btown32 : 06-12-2007 at 07:50 AM. |

Stankovich wins again...
George Stankovich, New Zealand, 3-0-0 (3) vs. Bert Lowe, New Zealand, 7-8-0 (2)
Lowe is down here in the 1st. No, the ref is ruling that Stankovich forced him down to the canvas and has received a warning. Close first round…if this round is any indication, this fight will be close. After two close rounds, Lowe takes the 3rd with aggressive punching and counter-punching, 17-10. Stankovich wins round 4 but is warned for pulling down the neck of his opponent. The ref warns Stankovich again, this time for rabbit punching in the 5th. The ref is interfering in this fight way too much as he stops the action and warns Lowe for throwing his shoulder into Stankovich. Lowe suffers two knockdowns in the 6th and the ref calls the fight at the end of the round with :18 seconds to go. Winner: Stankovich Result: (TKO6) Cards: 49-47 Stankovich, 48-48, 49-47 Stankovich Punch stats: 25.2% - 50.8% Lowe |

A controversial upset...
Julio Cesar Chavez, Mexico, 1-0-0 (1) vs. Eusebio “Chebo” Hernandez Jr., Mexico, 0-1-0 (0)
Hernandez suffers a knockdown within the first minute of the opening round. Chavez smothers Hernandez but is unable to finish him off. Chavez is warned for the low blows and the referee steps in and deducts a point here in the 2nd round. Chebo is down again in the 3rd from a hard cross but manages to get up. Chavez dips and goes upstairs with a quick hook. Chebo is suddenly in more trouble. Chavez misses with a shot and is warned to keep his punches up. Referee Mercante rules the foul to be blatant and is disqualifying Chavez. Hernandez is all but out on his feet and the referee DQ’s Chavez! What is going on here? There is a rush of people inside the ring. A "1" takes out a "10" in the biggest upset of the boxing universe! Winner: Hernandez Jr. Result: (DQ3) Cards: 19-17 on all cards in favor of Chavez Punch stats: 24.8% - 36.4% Hernandez Jr. Last edited by btown32 : 06-12-2007 at 07:50 AM. |

EHBA Championship
EHBA Title Fight
[Champion] Peter Jackson, Australia, 18-3-0 (17) vs. [8/36] Bruce Woodcock, UK, 15-2-0 (15) Peter Jackson finally steps back into the ring after a 7-month absence to face the EHBA’s #8 ranked contender and #36 world ranked heavyweight, Bruce Woodcock. Jackson doesn’t look the worse for wear as he comes out pressing the issue from the start of the bell. Woodcock responds and the fans are up cheering to end the 1st round. The first two rounds could’ve gone either way but the 3rd definitely belongs to the champ as he rains down blows that go unanswered. Referee Santiago has to step in to save Woodcock from taking anymore damage as he is unable to respond to the aggressive attack of the champ. The fight is stopped at the 2:54 mark of the 3rd round. Winner: Jackson Result: (TKO3) Cards: 19-19 on all cards. Punch stats: 53.2% - 67.2% Woodcock |

ICBA Championship
ICBA Title Fight
[Champion] Larry Foley, Australia, 13-0-0 (7) vs. [6/146] Ruslan Chagaev, Uzbekistan, 15-3-0 (13) ICBA Champion, Larry Foley steps back into the ring only one month after dethroning Ike Ibeabuchi to make his 1st title defense. This will be Chagaev’s second opportunity at the ICBA Title, losing previously to South Africa’s, Mustafa Couzee in April 1951. Both fighters square off and the fireworks are under way. Round 1 has a lot of action as each fighter lands good leather. Chagaev staggers Foley at the beginning of the round but Foley responds with some hard shots of his own to keep the round close. Chagaev is getting off first in all the rounds but Foley keeps coming back with counters. Same pattern in the third. Chagaev keeps pressing the action and the champ keeps moving and countering. It will be interesting to see how the judges will score these rounds. I don’t believe you can win a fight by running but I will say that Foley is landing punches while trying to stay away from the constant swarming. The champ has a very good 5th, 15-8. Foley really goes to work in the 7th, 29-5, with jabs and combos raining down on Chagaev. Foley is really coming on strong while Chagaev looks gassed. Chagaev also has swelling around the right eye. The champ is really dominating this fight right now. “Happy” Larry is showing his opponent all the skills of a polished boxer with his footwork, movement, feints, slipping punches, countering punches. 21-0 in round 13. Chagaev will need a knockout to win this fight but has no energy left to throw any punches with harmful intentions. Chagaev is down in the 14th but manages to scramble and get up. The ref is looking closely and Chagaev isn’t throwing any punches, so the fight is stopped at the 2:47 mark of the 14th round. Winner: Foley Result: (TKO14) Cards: 126-122, 127-120, 125-124 all in favor of Foley. Punch stats: 67.7% - 17.3% Foley Last edited by btown32 : 06-12-2007 at 07:49 AM. |

I agree...I was sitting there waiting for the ref to stop the fight from a TKO in Chavez's favor and boom! It couldve been stopped in the 1st too, but JC didnt finish the job and it came back to haunt him. It must be something down in your part of the world because Morales and mh2365 almost had a similiar situation in his last fight. Sorry for the upset, but it is the commission down there in Mexico that assigned the ref. Chebo must have some relatives on the commission!

USBA Championship
USBA Title Fight
[Champion] James Jeffries, USA, 18-4-0 (16) vs. [11/26] James J. Corbett, USA, 13-1-0 (5) Jeffries is landing big blows to start the round but Corbett responds with a big punch that causes a gash over the right eye of the champ. Corbett lands a strong hook but is unable to follow up in the 2nd round. Corbett starts the 3rd round by jabbing at the champs cut and has succeeded in reopening the gash. The ref steps in and decides to end the fight at the 1:56 mark of the 3rd round due to the severity of the cuts. James J. Corbett is the winner and new USBA Champion. Winner: Corbett Result: (TKO3)(cuts) Cards: 19-19 on all three cards. Punch stats: 33.1% - 39.2% Corbett |
