Bugner/Haye II - Haye loses every single round but wins the fight...

Joe Bugner, UK, 16-2-0 (13) vs David Haye, UK, 14-3-0 (13)

Ponds Forge Leisure Centre, Sheffield, United Kingdom. This is a rematch of a fight that was won by Haye (KO7), on 1951-01-31. A lot of time has passed since that fight and Bugner is looking to avenge that early loss. An exchange of blows and Haye gets the worst of it as he ends up looking at the ref counting to eight. Haye is able to get up and finishes the 1st. Bugner has Haye down again in the 2nd, and he is able to get to the stool again. Haye lands a nice body shot that makes Bugner wince, but he loses the third straight round, 23-12. Bugner takes the 4th, but needs to stop fouling. He has been warned for a low blow in the 3rd and for holding and hitting in the 4th. 24-12, Bugner in the 5th. 15-3, Bugner in the 6th. Another dominant round, 25-0, for Bugner in the 7th. Bugner has won every single round and I am surprised that Haye hasn't gone down again or his corner hasnt thrown in the towel. Les Stroud is the "Survivorman" but I am now giving that title to David Haye as he just survives each round to get to his stool. We enter the 13th round and Haye needs a miracle stoppage to win the fight. Oh my God, Moses has parted the Sea again! The ref has stopped the fight because of a blatant intentional foul by Bugner. He is declaring the win to Haye by disqualification! This has to be the worse decision since the stoppage of the Taylor-Chavez fight by referee Richard Steele. We need to go up to the ring and ask referee Mercante why he stopped this fight!

Winner: Haye
Result: (DQ13)
Cards: 130-115, 129-116, 130-115, all three cards in favor of Bugner
Punch stats: 144-795, 18.1% Haye - 455-748, 60.8% Bugner

*Rude debut for Bugner under Juggernaut Promotions. Cannot believe the stoppage but I was worried when I wrote about the warnings after the fourth round.

Kessler debuts with a brilliant TKO performance...

Mikkel Kessler, Denmark, Pro Debut vs Erik Jensen, Denmark, Pro Debut

Cirkusbygningen Arena, Copenhagen, Denmark. Mikkel Kessler enters the Arena to a thunderous applause as the Danish crowd is eager to see their hometown hero in his professional debut. Kessler pleases the crowd in the 1st as he pummels Jensen, who is also making his debut, 16-4. Kessler lands punch after punch, 26-0, and Jensen is unable to defend himself as the ref stops the fight at the 2:33 mark of the 2nd.

Winner: Kessler
Result: (TKO2)
Cards: 10-9, on all three cards in favor of Kessler
Punch stats: 5-44, 11.4% Jensen - 74-151, 49% Kessler

*We want Joe, we want Joe...oops...is it too early to call out Calzaghe!

Wow, what a lousy loss for Joe. He fought a great fight to lose it that way, but he had his opportunities to finish it and couldn't.

We got a solid win out of "Doomsday" though, so not a total loss this month.

It was pretty awful and I could see the foreshadowing on the wall. If you have played this sim for awhile, you can feel these results preparing to happen once a fighter dominates but isnt able to finish the fight. It has happened all too often. Bugner did fight well though to his credit.

Good results for Hagler and Kessler. Looking forward to see what they can do in the future.

Yeah I hate it when a guy I like starts fouling .. you just get that feeling it's going to be a bad outcome.

I think Northern Lights Promotions is going to be a very formidable stable with the two young prospects that it signed.

Ruiz says that he is not impressed by all these tiny, young heavyweights coming up nowadays. Me, Fres, Sugar are too experienced for Benitez, Cintron, Cotto, LaPorte, Mills, Rosario and Trinidad. Cotto says that he is not impressed by my championship performance, but he hasnt even fought anybody yet and he is doing all this talking. He isnt even the best prospect in my opinion...that claim goes to my man, Tito! Tito! Tito! I think that the little guy, whats his name, De La Hoya, could even beat Angel...Angel? Tito will take out Toto. Or is it Cotto? I think Toto sounds better, like Toto the dog!

Yeah, I agree. But you will run into those guys as you head into the bigger title areas, CABO, LABA, CIBF, NABF. Plus, Cuba is getting a little stronger, even though Napoles already beat one prospect in Casamayor. There are a couple more that will be entering the scene pretty soon. Plus, dont forget about LaCiar and Noel.

From the Margarito camp:

He wants a piece of the most feared and avoided fighter out there? Is he sure that he wants to risk his protected record? Anytime, any place. But I am going to treat you the way my boy, Ramos, treated your former partner, Arreola!
