TIMMY: What are you doing?
GEORGE: What? TIMMY: Did...did you just double-dip that chip? GEORGE: Excuse me? TIMMY: You double-dipped the chip! GEORGE: "Double-dipped"? What are you talking about? TIMMY: You dipped the chip. You took a bite. <points at the dip> And you dipped again. GEORGE: So...? TIMMY: That's like putting your whole mouth right in the dip! From now on, when you take a chip - just take one dip and end it! GOLD. |

Thanks for the pic of Bounce. I was starting to nod off.
The other day I did something I've never done. I stopped watching a movie dvd part way through, ejected the said dvd and tossed it into the nearest recepticle. The movie? Borat. I must really be getting ancient. I laughed only once near the beginning when he chased that guy across the street. The final straw was the wrestling in the hotel room. It creeped me out. This is comedy? Young guys at work were raving about this piece of garbage. Movie makers now seem like they are knocking each other over to make the grossest film they can. Every time I open my mouth these days I hear my Dad talking... ![]() Cap

Gentlemen, thank God I'm not alone in terms of how people view Borat! My golf buddy and his sons swear by Borat and watch it over and over. My girl friend and I watched it once, and swore at it, as it was gross and offensive. If there was a funny scene, it was obliterated by the rest. I've had a better time at my dentist's, as he used to serve me Heineken as a pre-pain med (he was also my college roommate and is my best friend).

So I decided to try the German option in Title Bout, which I can't understand, but I had to see if it works.
It does. But trying to navigate to change it back can be tricky if you don't remember exactly where the setting is!! (I was only lost for a minute or two, there are only so many places it could be)

Damn, we just had a crazy hail storm over here in the west of Sydney. It's just before 4pm, been hot and humid all day but the storm clouds rolled in and threw hail chunks the size of golf balls down for a good fifteen minutes. Now the sun is back out and the storm has moved off to the east. Crazy sh!t.

Wonder who will win the Title Bout No-Prize for the first post of 2008? (here's hoping it's from our good buddy Andreas telling us some great news about the game!)

Title Bout Commercial
I was sitting here drooling in my shoe when a thought struck as they sometimes do (hey that rhymes!). If Title Bout had a TV advert what would it look like?
I picture it on the local low-budget cable station. The set is this cheezy knotty-pine panelling with a beat-up sofa and garage-sale coffee table a la SCTV. Mike and Chris in these bad, ill-fitting checkered suits showing lots of cuff. Wally, the 80-yr old semi-retired camerman with a small drinking problem is having an unusally off day attempting to focus and keep Chris and Mike in the picture. You hear the music from Title Bout and right on cue Chris or Mike say: Hi there, sports fans! (Fill in the blank) ![]() Cap (Not being serious. This is a joke. A funny commercial starring Chris and Mike.)

OK. Bad idea. So what would a real TBCB commercial for television look like to attract actual fans? I know we have some good imaginations on this forum.

Maybe Andreas should get some of the creative folks in this community to help him make a short video promotion on Youtube. No gratuitous nudity though. Regular nudity would be okay.

11-2 again
Holy crap, BYU did about everything they could to try and not win tonight but special teams came up big blocking a 29 yard FG as time expired to beat UCLA 17-16.
I hate calling Coaches out, but BYU's OC would have been responsible for the loss if they didn't block that kick. If you didn't watch the game, with 19 seconds left in the first half, the Cougars have the ball inside their own 5 leading 17-6. Instead of taking a knee, Anae calls a counter trap (a slow developing play) which UCLA's DT has been blowing up all day because our 1st team all MWC Center can't block the backside gap fast enough. Sure enough, Guard pulls, Aluai misses the DT who blows up the play from the back side and causes a fumble. UCLA recovers and scores as time runs out in the half to trail only 17-13. The effort to block that last FG was remarkable though and the players deserved it. Both defenses played a hell of a game, even though BYU allowed a 100 yd rusher for the first time all year....good tense game overall. |

Rotisserie baseball
If anyone wants in, I'm involved in a start-up Rotisserie Baseball League. Draft Day is face-to-face, so I'm guessing very few (like two) people would even consider it, but I'm throwing it out there.
This is an official Rostisserie League, not some cheezy fantasy clone. If you're not sure what means, the big difference is the auction draft. Nothing is left to random chance of where you pick, who's left when you pick, etc.; each team has a salary cap and each player is auctioned . . . . lots of mano-a-mano fun all day and this is starting with idea that it will be a keeper league (minor leaguers, long-term contracts, all that fun stuff still being worked out). It's AL players only. Too much available talent=too boring. Draft Day is April 5 in Hartford CT. Time TBA (around 10 a.m.).

To anyone who is interested,
Last night (US time) I made the opening post in what I intend to be the final OOTP baseball dynasty I ever start. Even though it kicks off in 1957, it will be set in the same universe as my HBF/IBL story and will feature real MLB players. Just click on the link in my signature if you'd like to read it. k_c ![]() |
