I'd have thought Newcy Brown Ale was a bit thin on the ground in Sweden?

Are you in Stockholm Tommy?

This is bringing back memories of my favorite beers in my beer drinking days.

Once played on a darts team that called itself the St. James' Jestors because of where Guiness is brewed. Seven of the eight guys on the team drank Guiness. The wife of our pub's owner used a woodburning set to put our initials on wooden clothes pins which we kept on our pint glasses. (Otherwise we would have been reaching for the fullest one as our pint.)

Favored McEwans followed by NewCastle Brown.

Same here with Guiness. Love Newcastle Brown. Some of my favourite ales, in no particular order, are Directors, Old Speckled Hen, Abbotts Ale, Hobgoblin, Fursty Ferrett, Bombardier...I could go on

Darts....a man after my own heart.

I'm also a big fan of Newcastle. Will never turn down a Stout, either.
That said, if I was two-fisting on 14 and 15, as described by our friend Mike, I think it would have to be with a lighter beer. That many Guinesses would have me cross-eyed. I have to admit that I've been there, but not recently. I have a buddy in Southern California with a refrigerator keg of Guiness always at the ready when I visit. Great beer, conversation, etc., has led to a rather bleak "morning after" or two. I'd like to say that I'm wise enough now to avoid such over-indulgence, but distance is probably the likeliest thing keeping me from it.

We have a local brewer here, Boulevard, that makes an absolutely wonderful Pale Ale I'd put it up against anyone's. The kindda beer you drink simply because it tastes good - nice and hoppy. And their Bully Porter is equally delicious.

If there is a "drinking night" for me these days, it's probably Thursday. I still play softball with some of the same guys I played with back in the early 90's. Tradition dictates a cold one or two in the parking lot after the game. The beer tastes best after we've kicked some butt, which we still manage to do on occasion.

You got it. Same company (State owns it), many stores. If there was only one store I would have moved right next to it

Hobgoblin is good! I forgot that one. Don't remember how Old Speckled taste (I only tasted it at some point). I haven't tried the rest of them.

All this talk about good beer has made me thirsty Tomorrow I'm gonna buy a variety of ales. 1 or 2 bottles of each and enjoy my last Satruday evening of the vacation. Any more brands that I should try?

Lessee....Delirium Tremens, Ruddles, Master Brew Bitter, Hen's Tooth....Ever tried Thomas Hardy Ale? Ooo boy, it's a Belgium trappist style as I recall, very winey and high in alcohol content. Will knock you on your keester. Chimay makes several good beers.

Old standby Bass of course. Some great american ales include Sierra Nevada, Red Tail, Anchor Steam and the aforementioned Boulevard Pale Ale. Not sure how available any might be in your local store.

Wifey and I do Thursday's and Saturday's now because I can't cut the two nights in a row anymore ... sad when you start to get old LOL

Working from home allows me to do that.

Have you tried any blonde beer. It's summer ale. Looks like lager but it's ale. Adnams do one, but I can't remember what it's called.

Molson Golden is pretty much my favorite.

I went to Toronto a few years back (Red Sox v. Blue Jays series) and in the first pub I went to (20 minutes after unpacking, tops) I asked for it, figuring it was Canada and all . . . barkeep told me that's the slop they ship to the states and we think its good.

I then was presented with a list of varieties, most of which I never heard of, but they were all pretty damn good from what I remember.

London Pride and Spitfire are very nice. Had a pint of an ale called 'Old Bill' last night which was very nice in 'The Whitefriars Olde Ale House'. As you can probably tell from the name, it's an olde worlde medieval type place.

Can't believe I omitted the name of "Boddington" from my list of favorite ales.

In order to atone for this gross oversight, I marched down to the local store this afternoon to obtain four Pint cans. I now sit here, doing penance for the crime.

The "titles" associated with screen names should have boxing desciptions instead of baseball, if you choose.

Out with minor leaguer, bench warmer, all star and what not
In with: Tomato Can, club fighter, eight-rounder, headliner, contender, champ, etc.
