Madison Square Garden, New York, USA Opening bout Ron Lyle 6-0-0 (6) v Randy Neumann 12-3-0 (4), 10 rounds Ron Lyle faces his toughest test in journeyman Randy Neumann. This is the first fight scheduled for 10 rounds for both fighters. Lyle is a 13 to 1 favourite. My Prediction: Neumann will give Lyle trouble for the first two round and will be stopped in the 3rd or 4th by Lyles supreme offensive skills. 1st round: Lyle hurts Neumann and gives him hell from the start. 19-2 2nd round: Neumann shocks as he sends Lyle to the floor with a body shot. Lyle is up at the count of 6. 5-18 3rd round: Lyle recovers from the knockdown to win the round. 12-5 4th round: Lyle wins another round, but can't seem to hurt Neumann. 18-6 5th round: Both fighters are tiring out and there is no defense from neither one. 16-13 6th: Neumann punishes Lyle and wins the round bigtime. 4-23 7th: Lyle sends Neumann down with a hook. Neumann is up a the count of 8. 20-4 8th: Lyle lands a sweet combo and sends Neumann down. Neumann gets up and survives. 21-6 9th: This turns into back and forward action with both fighters losing their punching power. 14-13 10th: Both seems to be happy as they mostly just clinch the round to an end. 1-5 Scorecards: 96-92 95-92 96-91 All for the winner by unanimous decisiooon, Ron Lyle! Ron Lyle has big trouble here tonight but did get the win. Ron Lyle improves to 7-0-0 (6) while Randy Neumann moves to 12-4-0 (4) Support Bout Jimmy Young 19-0-0 (9) v Mani Vaka 19-1-2 (13), 10 rounds This should prove to be another good test for the so far impressive Jimmy Young. Young is the 7 to 2 favorite. My prediction: Young will outbox Vaka whose aggresion and average punching power only will give Young trouble for 2 or 3 rounds. UD 10 Jimmy Young. 1st round: Young lands more punches, but doesn't get it easy. 16-10 2nd round: Vaka wins the round with more effective punching. 7-9 3rd round: Young wins an easy round. 10-2 4th round: Vaka stuns Young to win the round. 4-9 5th round: Vaka stuns Young early. Young comes back with good combos to win the round. 18-12 6th round: Young wins a slow round. 9-4 7th round: Close round, Young comes strong towards the end. 13-7 8th round: Good round for Jimmy Young. 11-2 9th round: Young is getting better and better here. 8-0 10th round: Another good round for Young. 15-4 Scorecards: 98-92 97-93 98-92 All for the winner by unanimous decisioon, Jimmy Young! Jimmy Young improves to 20-0-0 (9) while Mani Vaka moves to 19-2-2 (13) Co-Feature Larry Middleton 29-2-1 (8) v George Chuvalo 37-11-0 (28), 12 rounds for the NABF title Larry Middleton scored a draw against Leotis Martin in a bout for the vacant NABF title. Martin then chose to fight Frazier instead of a rematch with Middleton. That left an empty spot for the opponent, which Chuvalo received. Chuvalo lost his last bout as he was given a boxing lesson from Al Jones. Chuvalo is the 2 to favourite My prediction: UD 12 for Larry Middleton. Chuvalo seems to be getting old and Middleton is the same kind of boxer as Al Jones, who beat him pretty easily. 1st round: Chuvalo lands the harder punches to win an actionfilled 1st round. 10-12 2nd round: Chuvalo manages to pressure Middleton and win the battles on the inside, while Middleton is stronger when there is a distance between the fighters. 10-10 3rd round: Chuvalo stuns Middleton with an uppercut. Then Middleton comes back as he seems to be outboxing the canadian. Chuvalo then suddenly lands a big hook and sends Middleton down. Middleton is up right away. 16-11 4th round: Middleton is punishing Chuvalo, who seems impossible to hurt. 20-0 5th round: Middleton wins another round. 9-4 6th round: Chuvalo hurts Middleton with some big shots. 10-16 7th round: Middleton lands good punches at Chuvalo, who is tiring. 12-3 8th round: Back and forth action, Middleton gets the better of it. 14-10 9th round. Chuvalo wins a close round as he hurts Middleton. 12-16 10th round. Chuvalo lands a big hook that sends Middleton down. Middleton gets up only to receive more punches straight to the chin. 8-24 11th round. Middleton comes strong towards the end to win the round. 14-6 12th and final round. Middleton looks good until he is caught flush with a combination of blows. Middleton gets up. 8-10 Scorecards are... 116-110 114-112 117-109 All for the winner by unanimous decision, the new NABF champioon... The toronto Tank, George Chuvalo!! Chuvalo seriously silenced his critics who were calling him shot and stating that he should just retire! Impressive victory. George Chuvalo improves to 38-11-0 (28) while Larry Middleton moves to 29-3-1 (8). Main event coming up.. |

Main Event
'Smokin' Joe Frazier 29-3-0 (28) v Leotis Martin 32-8-2 (18), 15 rounds for the Undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. It doesn't get any bigger than this. The #1 and #2 heavyweights of the world facing eachother in a highly anticipated rematch for the undsiputed heavyweight championship of the world. The first bout ended in a huge upset win by TKO in the 6th round for Leotis Martin. Since then both has fought some good fights, but right now it's all about this fight, and their former bout. Joe Frazier is a 2 to 1 favourite. My prediction: Frazier will be super motivated and will stop Martin early in brutal fashion. Joe Frazier KO 5! 1st round: Martin lands a big combination. Frazier comes back with a big body punch that makes Martin wince. Martin lands a solid hook. 6-10 2nd round: Frazier lands a big right hand. Frazier lands a strong cross. 14-2 3rd round: Frazier gets the better of the first big exchange of the fight. Frazier seems to have hurt his hand. Frazier lands a sneaky right and a left hook. 13-6 3rd round: Frazier lands two big hooks. Frazier hurts Martin with a big left uppercut. Frazier lands a straight right. Frazier lands a crushing cross. Frazier lands a solid hook. A hook to the body from Frazier. Frazier scores with a cross. 25-2 4th round: Frazier gets there first with his hook. Frazier stuns Martin with a cross. Frazier lands a solid uppercut. Frazier lands a big left hook. Martin is not answering at all with punches. Frazier lands a hard hook. Frazier lands one, two, three nice hooks. The ref steps in and stops the fight! Joe Frazier TKO 4 Leotis Martin!! Wow! Joe Frazier really proved that his loss against Martin was just a mistake! Very impressive perfomance i'd say! Joe Frazier finally got his revenge as he improves to 30-3-0 (29) while Martin improves to 32-9-2 (18) Joe Frazier is still yet to have a fight go past the 8th round. |

BTW: Some may have noticed that i switched the opponents of the two main events, i wrote in some earlier news that Shavers would face Ventura and Ziggy would face Williams, that was a mistake from me. Luckily it didn't really affect anything as both got the wins they were ment to get. |

USBA has announced that Leotis Martin (32-9-2 with 18 stoppages) will face Dave Zyglewicz (31-5-0 with 22 stoppages) for the vacant title. The fight will take place in June. NABF champ, canadian George Chuvalo (38-11-0 with 28 stoppages) stated in an interview that he feels like the world champ, Joe Frazier, is ducking him. He also added, that he can understand, given how quickly he would lose his belt. With the IBF world title fight, Al Lewis v Pedro Agosto, coming up later this month, the hype is increasing. Agosto says that after beating Buster Mathis, Jerry Quarry, and, in reality also Gregorio Peralta (Pedro Agosto lost by SD) Al Lewis will be nothing but a stepping stone on the way to a rematch with Gregorio Peralta. Former EBU champion Billy Walker 37-12-2 (30) has retired. The ring rankings: Ch: Joe Frazier 30-3-0 (29) 1. George Chuvalo 38-11-0 (28) 2. Ken Norton 25-1-0 (23) 3. Leotis Martin 32-9-2 (18) 4. George Foreman 22-0-0 (22) 5. Al Lewis 27-1-2 (15) 6. Al Jones 30-4-0 (6) 7. Gregorio Peralta 36-11-1 (22) 8. Dave Zyglewicz 31-5-0 (22) 9. Earnie Shavers 21-0-0 (19) 10. Oscar Bonavena 32-8-0 (26) |

Briggs Stadium, Detroit, Michigan, USA IBF - Al Lewis v Pedro Agosto George Foreman v Gregorio Peralta Henry Clark v Manuel Ramos Terry Daniels v Maxime Mauligalo Mike Schutte v Bambata George Larry Frazier v Benoit Hinderer Larry Frazier 2-0-0 v Benoit Hinderer 2-0-0, 6 rounds Larry Frazier won by TKO 4 as he improves to 3-0-0 (1) Mike Schutte 5-0-0 (5) v Bambata George 3-0-0, 6 rounds The result was a 6th round Draw. Mike schutte moves to 5-0-1 (5) while Bambata George moves to 3-0-1 Terry Daniels 10-1-0 (3) v Maxime Mauligalo 9-1-4, 8 rounds Daniels outboxed Mauligalo over 5 rounds until the fight was stopped because of a cut above Maximes right eye. Terry Daniels improves to 11-1-0 (4) with a TKO 5 win. Henry Clark 32-8-1 (6) v Manuel Ramos 28-14-2 (14), 10 rounds Clark won an actionfilled 1st. Clear 2nd round for Clark. Clark wins the 3rd, but is detucted a point for holding and hitting. Clark then goes on to win 4th. Ramos wins 5th. Clark clearly wins 6th thru 9th. 10th is close. Scorecards are: 97-92 96-93 96-93 All for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Henry Clark! Henry Clark improves to 33-8-1 (6) with a good victory. Manuel Ramos moves to 28-15-2 (14) George Foreman 22-0-0 (22) v Gregorio Peralta 36-11-1 (22), 10 rounds Foreman steps up again in what could and should prove to be his toughest fight against smooth boxing Gregorio Peralta. Peralta has been a top contender for almost ten years now and keeps getting himself into the mix with great wins. Peralta has given Ali one of his toughest fight as he lost a close UD 15. My prediction: Foreman will come out blasting, but Peralta will survive and start winning some round until he is stopped by a one shot KO in the 8th or 9th. 1st round: Foreman lands a good hook, but Peralta recovers and wins the round with good combinations. 7-12 2nd round: Foreman fails to get on the inside, as Peralta is looking good. 5-14 3rd round: Foreman gets on the inside and lands hard, stinging shots. Peralta though seems like he doesn't care as he is moving around nicely, not landing any punches though. 18-6 4th round: Foreman goes to the body. Then he goes up top and hurts Peralta. Foreman lands a crushing cross followed by a big hook. Foreman lands a combination of body and head blows. Peralta recovers and lands a jab. 27-2 5th round: The round starts pretty even. Foreman lands a big left and a short ripping uppercut. Peralta drops a right hand flush on Foremans chin. 14-10 6th round: Peralta is tiring out. Foreman lands a big left. Foreman lands a crushing hook. Foreman lands a big combo. 23-2 7th round: Foreman lands a big right. A solid cross and a big hook hurts Peralta. Peralta answers with a sharp combination. 12-11 8th round: Foreman lands a strong hook. Foreman throws a big left that sends Peralta down. Peralta gets up. Foreman lands a strong cross. Foreman lands a quick left hook. Foreman lands a strong combo and sends Peralta down again. Peralta gets up, but it only takes 10 seconds before he is send down for the third time and the fight is stopped! George Foreman TKO 8 Gregorio Peralta! George Foreman beats another top contender and moves closer to that title shot as he improves to 23-0-0 (23) while Gregorio Peralta moves to 36-12-1 (22) Al Lewis 27-1-2 (15) v Pedro Agosto 22-7-0 (16), 15 rounds for the IBF championship Al Lewis defends his IBF title for the first time since 'defeating' Al Jones by TKO due to a cut in the 9th. He will face Puerto Rican Pedro Agosto. Agosto has been somewhat of a headline story with his upsetting wins against Buster Mathis and Jerry Quarry. When he lose by split decision to Gregorio Peralta for he LABA title many, including myself, felt that Agosto had won the fight. My prediction: Al Lewis will have a very hard time and will probably pull of a close decision win. SD/UD 15 for Al Lewis 1st round: Lewis lands a good uppercut followed by a devastating hook that sends Agosto down! Agosto is counted out here in the 1st. Al Lewis KO 1 Pedro Agosto!! Very impressive win for Al Lewis! He did what Buster Mathis, Jerry Quarry and Gregorio Peralta couldn't Al Lewis improves to 28-1-2 (16) as he silenced many critics, saying he was only a paper champion. Many will still believe this, but he proved alot here tonight. Pedro Agosto moves to 22-8-0 (16) Last edited by aaaaaaaaa : 01-16-2008 at 12:34 PM. |

Richard Dunn moves to 15-5-2 while Del Phillips moves to 12-6-1 (3) Peter Boddington 17-2-1 (12) v Klaas Goosens 15-22-2 (4), 10 rounds This is a rematch for Boddington after he lost an upset 7th round KO the first time the two met. Peter Boddington was the clearly better fighter as he stopped the dutchmen in the 4th by KO Peter Boddington improves to 18-2-1 (13) Joe Bugner 20-6-0 (14) v Peter Weiland 25-12-1 (21), 10 rounds Bugner has been a very odd fighter. He has at times looked like the next superstar in wins against Pedro Agosto, Tom McNeeley and Roger Russell. But then once in while he has these weird losses. Bugner beat him 4 months ago by a 7th round TKO, but Weiland has since won against Buster Mathis, to give him a rematch. Joe Bugner pounded the german and stopped him in the 3rd. Joe Bugner KO 3 Peter Weiland Bugner improves to 21-6-0 (15) while Peter Weiland moves to 25-13-1 (21) Gene Innocent 21-4-0 (12 v Hans Jørgen Jacobsen 21-7-0 (20), 12 rounds for the EBU title Innocent makes his second defense of his EBU title against hard hitting dane Jacobsen. IBF champ Al Lewis (28-1-2 with 16 stoppages) will defend his title against Boone Kirkman (20-4-0 with 14 stoppages) in August. This has just led more fight fans to calling him a 'paperchamp' and being of the belief that he will defend against no-names until he is forced to defend against his mandatory challenger, who at the moment is George Foreman (23-0-0 with 23 stoppages). He won't have to face the mandatory challenger until February next year. George Foreman (23-0-0 with 23 stoppages) has with his recent wins against Oscar Bonavena, Mac Foster and Gregorio Peralta, been declared mandatory challenger at all four big organizations. This should probably mean a title bout before August this year against Joe Frazier. Should he not be given the title bout, then Joe Frazier might be stripped of his WBA and WBC belts since he has not defended against those mandatory challengers since August last year. The rules say you have to meet the mandatory challenger every 12 months. Should Ken Norton beat Joe Frazier later this month, a title shot will probably be put further on hold. Earnie Shavers (21-0-0 with 19 stoppages) will face Larry Middleton (29-3-1 with 8 stoppages) in June. Gene Innocent (22-4-0 with 13 stoppages) will defend his EBU title against mandatory challenger Joe Bugner (21-6-0 with 15 stoppages) in July. Oscar Bonavena (32-8-0 with 26 stoppages) will face Mani Vaka (20-2-2 with 14 stoppages) in August. That will mean 8 monthts without a fight for Bonavena. The ring rankings: Ch: Joe Frazier 30-3-0 (29) 1. George Foreman 23-0-0 (23) 2. George Chuvalo 38-11-0 (28) 3. Al Lewis 28-1-2 (16) 4. Ken Norton 25-1-0 (23) 5. Leotis Martin 32-9-2 (18) 6. Philadelphia Stadium, Philadelphia, PA, USA Undisputed heavyweight championship - Joe Frazier v Ken Norton Al Jones v Mac Foster Roger Russell v Mel Turnbow Ron Lyle v Ted Gullick Ron Lyle 8-0-0 (7) v Ted Gullick 13-2-1 (12), 10 rounds Lyle rained blows on Gullick from the start and send him down 2 minutes into the 1st. Gullick can't regain his legs and he is counted out here in the 1st! Ron Lyle KO 1 Ted Gullick Very impressive perfomance from Ron Lyle as he improves to 9-0-0 (8) Roger Russell 25-8-0 (2) v Mel Turnbow 22-14-2 (4), 10 rounds Russell wins 1st and 2nd with no problems. The two has met once before, Al Jones won by SD 12. Jones wins a close 1st. Jones opens a cut above Fosters right eye as he wins the 2nd. Jones cruises to win 3rd and 4th. Foster wins a close 5th. Jones wins 6th. Fosters cut is worsening and the fight is stopped here in the 7th. Al Jones TKO 7 Mac Foster!! Al Jones improves to 31-4-0 (7) Joe Frazier 30-3-0 (29) v Ken Norton 25-1-0 (23), 15 rounds for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Ken Norton has been campaigning for a title shot for some time now, with good wins against Billy Daniels, Manuel Ramos, Chuck Wepner, Henry Clark and Dave Zyglewicz. This has been a highly anticipated bout. Frazier is the favourite, but some experts feel that Norton is the man who, with his supreme all round skills, can beat Frazier. Joe Frazier has never fought a fight past the 8th round. My predicition: Norton is gonna win the first couple of rounds, but slowly Fraziers endurance and power will take over for him to win an late stoppage. 12th round KO for Joe Frazier. 1st round: Frazier lands a strong hook and Norton answers with a big left. Norton lands a quick left hook. Frazier lands two hooks. Frazier lands a big right hand. Norton lands a hard shot. Norton lands a short uppercut on the inside to win an entertaining first round. 15-18 2nd round: Frazier lands a couple of sneaky punches as he seems to be showing alot of respect to Norton by not loading up on his shots. Norton lands a big hook. There is a big exchange that Frazier gets the better of. Frazier lands a hook to the body. Norton lands a cross. Frazier lands a big left hook that Norton answers with a devastating cross. Frazier lands a big left in one of the best rounds i've ever seen. 22-16 3rd round: Norton lands a strong cross. Frazier gets countered with a straight right. Frazier goes to the body. Frazier lands two body punches and a quick shot up top. Norton lands a nice body hook. Frazier lands a sweet uppercut. 12-13 4th round: Frazier lands a hard cross. Norton lands a punch to Frazier neck and the ref takes a point from him. Frazier lands a nice punch on the inside. Norton lands a good body punch. Frazier lands a big left hook. Frazier lands a sweet uppercut that opens at Nortons forehead. 20-11 5th round: Frazier lands a devastating cross that sends Norton to the floor. Norton is up at the count of 3. Frazier gets wild but does land a smashing hook that sends Norton down again. Norton can't get up!!! Joe Frazier KO 5 Ken Norton!! Wow! That was very impressive! Non-stop action until Frazier landed his big punches as another fight is stopped early for Frazier. Ken Norton made a very good impression until he was stopped. Now: Whats next for Joe Frazier? There is a couple of possibilities: George Foreman 23-0-0 (23), mandatory challenger George Chuvalo 38-11-0 (28), NABF champ Muhammad Ali 42-2-0 (34), retired former champ Al Lewis 28-1-2 (16), IBF champ Joe Frazier improves to 31-3-0 (30) while Ken Norton moves to 25-2-0 (23) |

June 1st, 1972 - news
George Chuvalo (38-11-0 with 28 stoppages) has apparently gone tired of waiting for an answer from Frazier on his open challenge to him, as he has announced that he will defend his NABF title against Al Jones (31-4-0 with 7 stoppages) in August. Gregorio Peralta (36-12-1 with 22 stoppages) and Ken Norton (25-2-0 with 23 stoppages) are both looking to rebound from losses, and this has led to the two fighers agreeing to fight eachother in September. Joe Frazier (31-3-0 with 30 stoppges) is still keeping the boxing fans of the world waiting as he is yet to announce his next opponent. Manuel Ramos 28-16-2 (14) has retired. The ring rankings: Ch: Joe Frazier 31-3-0 (30) 1. George Foreman 23-0-0 (23) 2. George Chuvalo 38-11-0 (28) 3. Al Jones 31-4-0 (7) 4. Al Lewis 28-1-2 (16) 5. Leotis Martin 32-9-2 (18) 6. Ken Norton 25-2-0 (23) 7. Dave Zyglewicz 31-5-0 (22) 8. Earnie Shavers 21-0-0 (19) 9. Gregorio Peralta 36-12-1 (22) 10. Oscar Bonavena 32-8-0 (26) |

Mel Turnbow's showings against Kirkman and Russell are proving that, as the level of competition goes up, Mel's record goes down. He's still got a fairly respectable record, though
!Agosto came back to earth, literally and figuratively, with his 1st round stoppage. But he had quite a run, amazing for a level 1 fighter, and it doesn't mean he won't bounce back again. He was awesome in my Turkey Tournament, but obviously awful in your last fight! |
