The big fight is set; Muhammad Ali vs Ken Norton at MSG

The huge unification bout has been set. WBA and WBO champion, Muhammad Ali (46-3, 38 KO's) will face IBF and WBC champion, Ken Norton (30-2, 26 KO's) at Madison Square Garden, New York on September 14th. Muhammad Ali fought the fight of his life, and won the fight of his life, when he defeated George Foreman by 6th round TKO in December, 1972. He followed that win with a 1st round destruction of Pedro Agosto. Ken Norton has been a dominant force in rebounding from his 5th round KO loss against Joe Frazier in May, 1972. He has since then won five bouts, defeating Gregorio Peralta, Al Lewis (twice), Leotis Martin and Joe Bugner. The early odds are 2-1 in Alis favour.

The former heavyweight champion of the world, George Foreman (27-1, 27 KO's) is clear in stating that the man he wants is Muhammad Ali (46-3, 38 KO's); "He did not beat me fair and square, the fight was stopped because of a cut, and he should prove to be a true champion by fighting me again."

Tony Ventura 23-11-3 (15) vs Terry Daniels 20-5 (7), 10 rounds

Daniels was knocked down in 2nd after a close 1st. Daniels pounds Ventura in 3rd, cutting him from the right eyelid, making the referee stop the fight.

Terry Daniels improves to 21-5 (8) with a 3rd round TKO. *Somehow Daniels doesnt gain PP enough to go past Ventura in the rankings. After the fight, Ventura is #25 and Daniels is #31.. I need a patch.

'Smokin' Joe Frazier 34-4 (33) vs Joe Bugner 26-7 (17), 12 rounds

An extremely motivated Joe Frazier pounded Bugner completely before the referee called it of as Bugner was defenseless with 30 seconds to go of the round!

Frazier and Foreman turn down NABF fight; Al Jones vs Dave Zyglewicz set

The two former heavyweight champions of the world, Joe Frazier (35-4, 34 KO's) and George Foreman (27-1, 27 KO's) has apparently both turned down the shot to face eachother or anybody else for the NABF title. This has led to a bout for that title, between former IBF world champion Al Jones (34-6, 8 KO's) and former USBA champion Dave Zyglewicz (34-8, 24 KO's) required that Al Jones beats Boone Kirkman (24-6, 18 KOs) on the 14th of this month. The bout has been set for 4th of January, 1975 at the Uline Arena in Washington DC.

Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton said to be in top shape

As the big heavyweight unification bout is approaching, all seems ready for September 14th. Reports from the camps of both Muhammad Ali (46-3, 38 KOs) and Ken Norton (30-2, 26 KOs) are positive, as they are said to be in physically extreme condition. Muhammad Ali believes he can whoop Ken Norton, and ofcourse, the other way around aswell. All the four major titles will be unified for the first time ever in a bout that has the whole world of boxing, extremely excited and at the edge of their seats.

I know that I am excited and at the edge of my seat for the unification of all the titles! I havent had a unification bout in my universe yet, although there is one possibly scheduled for the end of 1955, (that is if I can get to the end of 1955)!

Leroy Jones 6-1 (2) vs Randy Stephens 1-1, 6 rounds

Neither fighter gained control, resulting in a hardfought draw with the scores of 58-56 Jones, 58-56 Stephens and 57-57.

Leroy Jones record moves to 6-1-1 (2) and Stephens goes to 1-1-1 with a 6th round Draw.

Stan Ward 2-0 (2) vs Reno Zurik 11-9-1 (1), 8 rounds

Ward took it easy in 1st and 8th rounds, but dominated all those in between, crusing to the scores of 79-73, 78-75 and 78-74 all for Ward.

1972 Olympic Silvermedalist Stan Ward improves to 3-0 (2) with a easy 6th round UD.

Mike Schutte 17-2-1 (12) vs Jose Luis Garcia 13-6-2 (9), 10 rounds

Schutte send Garcia down in 2nd after a brutal slugfest in 1st. He then continued, by knocking Garcia out in the 3rd.

ABU champion Mike Schutte improves to 18-2-1 (13) with a 3rd round KO.

Oscar Bonavena 35-11 (28) vs Jeff Merritt 27-7 (22), 10 rounds

After 2 actionfilled minutes, Bonavena decided to headbutt Merritt, cutting him inside the left eyebrow. Merritts power made the difference, as he knocked Bonavena down in 2nd, 5th and 10th, winning with the scores of 96-91 and 95-92 (twice).

Jeff Merritt improves to 28-7 (27) with a 10th round UD.

Al Jones 34-6 (8) vs Boone Kirkman 24-6 (18), 10 rounds

Kirkman was surprisingly good in the 1st round, beating Jones to the punch and outboxing him. Jones got more into it, but still Kirkman edged the 2nd aswell. Kirkman seemed able to relax and still dominate winning 3rd and 4th. Jones managed to cut Kirkman in the 5th with a jab, but still lost the round. Kirkman returned the favour, cutting Jones in the 6th with a combination of blows. He came very close to stopping Jones in that very round, giving him an allround beating. Jones finally caught up, winning 7th, only to lose the 8th. He suddenly came strong in the 9th, punishing Kirkman brutally and almost stopping him. Kirkman defended himself, making 10th boring. Scorecards were 98-91 and 97-92 (twice) all for Kirkman!

Boone Kirkman improves to 25-6 (18) with a stunning upset, demolishing Al Jones chances of getting a shot at the NABF title, UD 10. Al Jones looked a shell of his former self, in moving his record to 34-7 (8).

We will be going live for the fight between Ali and Norton in short time.
