Leotis Martin (32-8-1 with 18 stoppages) and Larry Middleton (29-2-0 with 8 stoppages) has signed for a October NABF title fight. The fight will be placed on the undercard of Chuvalo-Jones, which is for the IBF championship. Leotis Martin will be looking to rebound from his May 5th round KO loss to George Chuvalo while Larry Middleton has won his last two bouts.
Ken Norton (23-1-0 with 21 stoppages) has announced that he will fight long time-contender Henry Clark (32-7-1 with 6 stoppages). This should prove to be Nortons toughest test to date, as Henry Clark has some impressive results on his resume. He has taken Muhammad Ali the distance. He lost to Al Jones by a split decision which many found controversial. He has wins against fighters such as Jimmy Ellis, Jurgen Blin, Manuel Ramos, Pedro Agosto and Chuck Wepner. Ken Norton v Henry Clark will take place in September on the same card as Jerry Quarry v Pedro Agosto. Billy Daniels 30-13-2 (10) has retired after a career with wins against many top fighters. Jimmy Ellis, Amos Johnson, Chuck Wepner, Gregorio Peralta and Oscar Bonavena are just some of the names he has on his resume. The ring rankings: Champ: Joe Frazier 28-3-0 (27) 1. George Chuvalo 37-10-0 (28) 2. Leotis Martin 32-8-1 (18) 3. Al Jones 29-3-0 (6) 4. Gregorio Peralta 35-10-1 (22) 5. Larry Middleton 29-2-0 (8) 6. Al Lewis 26-1-2 (14) 7. Dave Zyglewicz 29-4-0 (21) 8. Ken Norton 23-1-0 (21) 9. Jerry Quarry 27-3-0 (22) 10. Oscar Bonavena 30-7-0 (25) |

Madison Square Garden, New York, USA Opening bout Ron Lyle 4-0-0 (4) v Rud Hamburger 2-1-0, 6 rounds Ron Lyle makes his tv debut against unknown dane Rud Hamburger. Ron Lyle has been described my experts as a future world champ, and today he has his first chance to prove that its more than hype 1st: Lyle starts out well as he dishes out punishment without sending the dane down. 17-3 2nd: Lyle sends Hamburger down with a wicked combination of blows to the head and body. The dane is up again, but is out on his feet. Lyle lands a short hook to send Hamburger down again. He can't regain his legs as Ron Lyle has won. Ron Lyle KO 2 Rud Hamburger Ron Lyle improves to 5-0-0 (5) after a impressive showing against a far from impressive opponent. Rud Hamburger moves to 2-2-0 Support bout Dave 'Ziggy' Zyglewicz 29-4-0 (21) v Boone Kirkman 18-2-0 (12), 10 rounds Boone Kirkman is expected to give Ziggy all kinds of trouble in this matchup that could really bring Dave into the top. Kirkman made a good first impression against Joe Frazier as he fought back well until he was knocked cold in the 8th. 1st: Ziggy hurts Kirkman as he clearly wins the round. 16-1 2nd: Completely opposite of the first as Boone outboxes and even hurts Ziggy. 0-16 3rd: Its close and actionfilled all the way through, but Ziggy wins it by stunning Kirkman towards the end. 16-9 4th: Back and forth action that Ziggy seems to get the better of. 9-7 5th: Ziggy wins the round as he is countering well with big shots. 12-7 6th: Ziggys is landing punches at will, and especially his uppercut on the inside has been strong. 19-4 7th: A fantastic round as both fighters had their moments, although Ziggy got the better of the non stop action. 17-12 8th: Kirkman is trying to load up before firing his shots, but he can't get the time as Ziggy is over him constantly. 16-2 9th: Ziggy is punishing Kirkman now. 17-3 10th and final round: Ziggys goes all out for a KO, despite him being in a huge lead. After 2 and a half minute of brutal slugfest, Kirkman is send down by a wild overhand right from Ziggy. Kirkman gets up and Ziggy fails to put a KO victory on his record. Scorecards: 98-91 99-90 99-90 All for the winner by unanimous decision, Dave 'Ziggy' Zyglewicz! An impressive perfomance as Dave Zyglewicz improves to 30-4-0 (21) while Boone Kirkman moves to 18-3-0 (12) after being overmatched. Next up: Co-Feature and Main Event. Everybody's random # is already set, any change in the aging #'s will only take effect once a fighters changes stages. For example let's say fighter A just changed to pre prime, he gets a random number of say 12. If you change the aging for pre-prime to 15-20, he will still go to Prime after 12 bouts. But if you changed prime to 20-40 then he will get a random # between 20-40 once he goes prime. Hope that wasn't too confusing. |

End of August 1971 news
WBO announced that their mandatory challenger is Dave Zyglewicz (30-4-0 with 21 stoppages) and that the champ, Joe Frazier (29-3-0 with 28 stoppages), will have to fight him if he wants too keep that belt in his collection. Frazier had no comments as it remains a mystery who he will fight next. There is speculations about a rematch with Leotis Martin, a unification bout with George Chuvalo or a defence against Dave Zyglewicz.
The huge prospect George Foreman (20-0-0 with 20 stoppages) has announced, shockingly for many, that he will step it up against argentinian Oscar Bonavena (30-7-0 with 25 stoppages). This is a much better opponent that anyone would have guessed, as many think this is too early for George and that he is gonna get a boxing lessson against the much more experienced opponent. The fight is gonna take place in October on the undercard of Chuvalo-Jones. Newly crowned EBU champ Gene Innocent, has announced that he will fight a rematch with german Jurgen Blin in December. The ring rankings: Champ: Joe Frazier 29-3-0 (28) 1. George Chuvalo 37-10-0 (28) 2. Leotis Martin 32-8-1 (18) 3. Al Jones 29-3-0 (6) 4. Dave Zyglewicz 30-4-0 (21) 5. Larry Middleton 29-2-0 (8) 6. Jerry Quarry 27-3-0 (22) v Pedro Agosto 21-6-0 (16) Jerry Quarry comes back after a little break from boxing, that he felt the need to have. Quarry was 27-0-0 and IBF champ, before Joe Frazier came along to beat him. Most had expected him to lose against Joe Frazier so there was nothing wrong with that for him, as he gave a good fight against a superior opponent. After that he chose to fight Al Jones, who he had beat once before, for the NABF and USBA titles. He was stunned in a 12 round decision loss. Many felt that the decision was controversial and he therefore got another shot. There was no doubt that time as he got stopped in the 4th round. Pedro Agosto was looking like another journeyman until he ran into a good streak. He won a 9th round KO against Santo Amonti, a 10 rounds split decision win against Jack O'Halloran and a 1st round stoppage of Jan Lubbers. His big breakthrough came when he fought Buster Mathis. Buster was a 10 to 1 favourite but came in surprising trouble from the start. In the 8th Pedro Agosto send him down twice before the fight was stopped in a stunning TKO 8 win for Agosto. Jerry Quarry is the 13 to 1 favourite. 1st: Agosto starts well as he manages to pressure Quarry and lands with some sneaky punches. Quarry comes back with a right left combination and then stuns Agosto with a straight right. Quarry follows up with a hard cross. Agosto then counters with a strong hook. Quarry wins an entertaining 1st round with a big uppercut. 18-11 2nd: Agosto lands some good sneaky shots that hurts Quarry. Quarry answers with a combination and a big uppercut. Agosto lands a hard body punch and two quick punches up top to win the round. 7-16 3rd: Quarry starts well as he pumps his jab. Agosto jumps in and lands a nice combination after the jab. Quarry ends best as he lands harmless punches that scores. 8-8 4th: Agosto starts out with a crushing right and some good straight punches. Quarry ends the round with a jab and a harmless hook. 4-13 5th: Quarry starts out well with his jab and combinations. Agosto rushes in and lands a right clean on Quarrys chin followed by a three punch combo that hurts Quarry. Agosto then misses with a huge shot and Quarry counters with a lead right. 10-14 6th: Quarry hurts Agosto with a hook and a big uppercut. Then he follows up with a combination. Quarry tries to end it, but is countered it with a wicked right. 17-12 7th: Quarry hurts Agosto with some big punches and wins the round big. 17-2 8th: Quarry lands big punches, but Agosto answers by putting Quarry down with a wicked cross. Quarry is up again and survives. 18-21 Could Agosto do it again? 9th: Quarry hurts and punishes Agosto who shows amazing ability to recover as he anwers with a short digging hook. 23-7 Before the final round i have it scored: 86-86 10th and final round: Quarry is tired as he lets Agosto land his punches without blocking. Neither fighter has any power left but Agosto gets the better of the action here. 9-19 My card: 96-95 for Pedro Agosto Scorecards: 95-94 Jerry Quarry 96-93 Pedro Agosto 95-94 for the winner by split decision... PEDRO AGOSTO! This puerto rican dude, just keeps upsetting. This might be the biggest upset in the history of the universe. Jerry Quarry loses his 4th in a row, even when he met someone who everyone expected him to beat. This Pedro Agosto is a real succes story. Pedro Agosto improves to 22-6-0 (16) with a shockingly good perfomance. Jerry Quarry moves to 27-4-0 (22) as he gets another step back with a 4th loss in a row. |

Yes it will only effect the current fighters when they move to the next stage. I believe this is correct. I don't think a new random # is generated unless you hit the "calculate next aging for all fighters" button.

Special news
WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF has changed their mandatory rules. The original rules said that after winning the title a fighter had to defend against their mandatory in 6 months and once every 12 months he had to defend against his mandatory. The new rules say that after winning the title a fighter has to defend the title in the first 12 months if it was a mandatory challenger who won the title. If the challenger won the title in a optional defence for the champion he still has to defend his title against the mandatory challenger in the first 6 monts.
