Clinton Calls it Quits
02/12/08
![]() An emotional Hillary Clinton today declared an end to her bid for the White House. Clinton failed to really get on track with voters at any point this year - a victory in the Utah primary the high water mark of her 2008 campaign. Clinton leaves with 48 delegates to her credit, and no immediate plan for endorsing another candidate.

A note to Giantsfan and anyone else who is new to the thread - there is a partner thread here, where you can nominate a running mate for Giuliani.

I'm shooting for mid-week. I might have some time tomorrow afternoon, but more likely Wednesday.

Chris Dodd might just surprise us all. He seems to be right there with Edwards. The question is does he have the time to pull out the victory?

It's anybody's contest. Richardson, even Obama, has a statistical chance to catch Edwards.

Breaking News: Maryland too close to call
02/12/08
Baltimore - An extraordinarily close race throughout the day, the Maryland primary looks like it will come down to a few hundred votes between current Democratic front-runner John Edwards and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Senator Barack Obama, who desperately needs a win tonight, looks to be out of the running, as does Senator Christopher Dodd. Notification will be issued once a winner has been determined.

Final Maryland Primary Results
02/13/08
![]() Baltimore - Final results have been tallied, and Senator John Edwards has been declared winner in the closely contested Maryland primary. All four of the candidates leave Maryland with at least a handful of delegates, the result of scattered support for each of them. Unfortunately for Obama, the 13 delegates he takes from Maryland will do little to shore up his flagging campaign. Obama is expected to drop out of the race in the next few days. The next big Democratic date on the calendar is Tuesday, February 19th, when Wisconsin's 74 pledged delegates will be up for grabs. The Hawaii Democratic caucus (20 pledged delegates) will be conducted on the same day. Democratic Delegates won in Maryland: Edwards - 26 Richardson - 20 Obama - 13 Dodd - 11 Delegate count overall: Democratic - 2025 needed Christopher Dodd - 641 Bill Richardson - 568 Barack Obama - 304Out of the Race Hillary Clinton - 48 Joe Biden - 27 Mike Gravel - 18
