Great little turn-of-the-century world you have here Brooks.

This is making me anxious to jump 90 years ahead! Must-be-patient.

Thanks Chris. It's hard for me to be patient as well but it does make it very exciting when the new guys roll in slowly and take over. For Instance, Jack Johnson is still pre-prime and in the club ranks right now in my uni but I can see him climbing the ranks and battling it out with Peter Jackson in a top flight heavyweight war. Thats if Jackson hold his belt long enough to make this happen.

Wow - some upcoming barnburners. I like that Fitzsimmons Choynski LHW match - be interesting to see who leaves it with a blemish on their record. Jackson/Corbett, Walcott/Ryan - all great matches.

I've forgotten - how do you determin who fights who?

Gans/Gibbons should be another interesting contest. And of course Plimmer/Pedlar.

Fights are scheduled by the last fight date. If a fighter won his last fight he can fight a fighter rated higher than him but if he lost he fights a fighter lower ranked. Too earn a title shot you have to be ranked by the organization and have won your last two fights. A fighter must also have had more than a month off.

Thanks for reading Lee. That will be a good fight but Plimmer/Pedlar was a brawl last time.

November 1895

November 2, 1895
Burlington Hotel/ Birmingham, England
[BW] (WBC) Billy Plimmer 20-2-1 (6) v/s Pedlar Palmer 16-1-1 (7)
The first round was very close with both fighters landing several punches. The second through fourth rounds were all Plimmer. The fifth round it was pretty much all Palmer, he managed to drop the Champion once in the round. The sixth round was much closer with Palmer resting up from the last round. In the seventh you could tell Palmer was rested as he took control again and dropped Plimmer another time. It may have been Palmer's energy was gone or Plimmer had had enough but in the eighth Plimmer dropped Palmer with a monster hook and the fight was over.

Leon is now the number one contender by WBC but I have him tied with Johnny Murphy. Maybe an eliminator fight is in the works.

December 1895

December 7, 1895
Foleys Hall/ Sydney, NSW, Australia
[HW] (WBC) Peter Jackson 21-2-0 (15) v/s James Corbett 20-4-1 (3)
Corbett came out hard in round one showing Jackson he was a serious threat in this fight. Round two was very close and Jackson went to his corner bleeding from the mouth. Round three Jackson came out hard and seemingly took control of the fight. Jackson was however cut over his left eye in the third but Cassius Green did not seem worried about it too much. Rounds 4 and 5 were very close. In the sixth both fighters took a break but Corbett did a little more. The seventh round was another close one with Corbett doing just a little more. In round eight both fighters came out throwing quick combos and Jackson's eye got busted back open. The ref saw the blood stream from his eye and quickly stopped the fight so the doctor could take a look. The doctor decided that the cut was too bad and stopped the fight.
All three cards were in favor of Corbett at the time of the stoppage.
