That Nick Burley sure packs a wallop - 16 wins, 15 by KO...
This one strikes me as a bit of an upset: [MW] Harry Peppers 19-2-1 (13) (UD 10) Jack Dempsey 22-3-0 (13) And - regarding Ruby Robert and The Chrysanthemum, was it even close, or did Fitzsimmons run away with it?

Quote:
Choynski/ Fitzsimmons was a one-sided fight. Choynski was dropped twice and by the end of the fight was cut up and swollen. I was shocked he went the distance. Scorecards: David Mendoza 146-139 Raul Caiz Jr. 145-138 Leo Johnson 143-140 I like Burley's punching power but a good boxer will wipe the floor with him everytime. He has won his last two fights so his next opponent will be a big test.

Something to watch
The H.O.B.O. has introduced a fight card called "Retribution". This is a trial run with four fighters getting a shot at avenging a blemish on their record. The initial fight card has been filled with only four fights. A fighter must not have more than one loss and scheduling rules still are in effect.
February 1, 1896 Heroe Arena/ Loudon, TN. [FW] Cal McCarthy 14-1-1 (7) v/s Camille Pelletier 38-9-3 (8) Last fight: McCarthy Loss MD on 2-23-1890 [LW] Stanton Abbott 19-1-1 (10) v/s Yvan Avanzo 29-13-1 (10) Last fight: Majority Draw on 10-16-1892 [LW] Arthur Chambers 20-1-1 (7) v/s Carl Lawrenson 24-13-5 (6) Last fight: Draw on 4-19-1893 [WW] Owen Ziegler 22-1-1 (9) v/s Kevin Thompson 4-10-4 (2) Last Fight: Majority Draw on 3-3-1892

Baltimore Civic Center/ Baltimore, MD. [MW] (WBC) Harris Martin 23-0-0 (16) (TKO 10) Young Mitchell 20-2-1 (12) This fight was not very close. Martin proves still he is the man to beat in the middleweight division. Martin said after the fight that he would like to fight undefeated welterweight champ, Tommy Ryan if he holds onto his belt next week. Ryan has showed no interst in moving up to take on Harris. [FW] Young Pluto 12-6-3 (4) (KO 6) Johnny T. Griffin 15-3-0 (8) [HW] Mike Cleary 17-5-0 (11) (SD 10) Jack Fallon 14-9-0 (9) [LW] Bill Mahan 19-6-0 (11) (UD 10) Sam Collyer 14-7-3 (5) [MW] Ted Perry 10-9-3 (6) (KO 1) Billy McCarthy 15-10-1 (4) [HW] Joe Lannon 11-10-4 (1) (MD 8) Mick Dooley 13-7-1 (10) May 9, 1896 Dreamland Rink/ San Francisco, CA. [WW] (WBC) Tommy Ryan 20-0-0 (12) v/s Paddy Duffy 23-2-3 (11) Tonight the world saw something never seen before, Tommy Ryan tasted the canvas in theopening 30 seconds of the first round tonight. Ryan survived and basically dominated from then on. In the second round Duffy was cut over his right eye which in the 12th round caused the fight to be stopped. Duffy won just one more round on the way to the stoppage. (WBC) Tommy Ryan 21-0-0 (13) (TKO 12) Paddy Duffy 23-3-3 (11) Undercard: [LW] Frank Garrard 16-8-2 (8) (Draw 12) Sam Bolen 10-6-5 (1) [LW] Barney Donovan 15-4-1 (9) (KO 10) Barney Malone 17-5-2 (9) [HW] Mervine Thompson 13-5-1 (7) (TKO 8) John Knifton 13-9-2 (4) [LW] Billy Myer 14-9-4 (4) (TKO 8) Dick Burge 11-11-2 (3) May 16, 1896 Happy World Arena/ Singapura, Singapore [LW] (WBC) Joe Gans 22-1-0 (6) v/s Jack McAuliffe 22-2-0 (15) After the first round it looked like Gans was out matched with the hard hitting McAuliffe. Gans found his timing after that round landing quick counter punches and dancing around the wild swinging of McAuliffe. McAuliffe caught Gans with a big hook in round seven dropping him to the canvas for an eight count. The rest of the fight Gans chose not to step in and slug with McAuliffe, instead he used his boxing skills and picked up a unanimous decision. David Robertson 144-139 Fred Futy 142-141 John Lawson 144-139 (WBC) Joe Gans 23-1-0 (6) (UD 15) Jack McAuliffe 22-3-0 (15) Undercard: [HW] Peter Maher 20-3-1 (14) (KO 5) Nick Burley 16-7-2 (15) [HW] Frank Herald 17-7-0 (14) (TKO 4) Dick Matthews 20-5-0 (13) [LW] Mike Farragher 14-8-3 (9) (TKO 4) Jim Barron 15-7-1 (8) [HW] Duncan McDonald 14-7-4 (3) (TKO 6) Bill Farnan 15-8-0 (12) [MW] Alec Gregganis 10-8-4 (4) (KO 4) Dick O'Brien 12-8-0 (6) [MW] Billy Kelly 14-14-4 (6) (SD 8) Dan Hickey 8-9-8 (2) May 23, 1896 Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre/ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia [FW] (WBC) Young Griffo 20-0-1 (6) v/s Dick Hollywood 16-1-2 (9) Griffo controlled this fight from the opening bell. Upcoming Prospect
Eddie Connolly
16-1-1 (8) Connolly, is a typical boxer with average skills. He has been doing enough to win but has not impressed a lot of people. Connolly does not have great power or even a good chin but he has great endurance. Connolly has not been stopped but has been knocked down several times. Out of his eighteen fights he has only suffered four cuts and only caused one. Predicition: I see Connolly as a journeyman fighter at best. Later in his career he may make a run for the Heroes North American Championship but I doubt he will ever win it.
