WBC Middleweight Championship Weigh-in

Challenger: Tommy Ryan 22-0-0 (13)
Standing 5'7.5 weighs in at 158lbs
Ryan is the former WBC welterweight champion. He defended his belt four times after winning it from Young Corbett via unanimous decision in February of 1895. "I feel great at this weight and look forward to this upcoming fight with the champ."

Champion: Harris Martin 24-0-0 (16)
Standing 6'0 weighs in at 150lbs
Martin is the current undisputed WBC middleweight champion. This is his third title defense after winning the belt via technical knockout over Peter Newton in December of 1895. "I plan on leaving tomorrow night with my belt and as the undisputed pound for pound champion. Ryan was a good fighter at welterweight but now he is stepping in with the big boys."

Tomorrow night these two men square off in what should prove to be the most exciting fight in the history of the H.O.B.O. The winner will not only take home the WBC belt but will most likely be named the pound for pound king.

Mitchell has had a good career to this point. His losses were to Harris Martin, one by knockout the other by decision. He had the draw very early in his career. He captured the HNAC belt in his last fight and is now eligible to fight for the WBC belt with two consecutive wins. The last time he fought for the title he failed.

This should be a good one early, I look for Ryan to take over in the later rounds though.

[MW] (WBC) Harris Martin 24-0-0 (16) v/s Tommy Ryan 22-0-0 (13)
Welcome to the most anticipated fight in H.O.B.O. history. The two fighters considered to be the best pound for pound in the world will face off just to see who is the best. Martin's WBC belt is on the line as well.
Round 1
This round was all action with both fighters scoring big shots. Neither fighter really took the advantage away from the other one. Ringside expert, Javier, scores it 10-9 Martin.

Round 2
After being warned for hitting low,Ryan kept the fight at a distance using his jab and cross to keep Martin guessing which proved to be effective this round. Martin didn't land any punches and threw very few. Javier scores the round 10-9 Ryan

Round 3
A fast paced brawl of a round. Martin worked his uppercut when Ryan would move in and unleash his quick combinations. Martin seemed to have gotten the better of Ryan this round. Javier scores it 10-9 Ryan

Round 4
A boring round with neither fighter wanting to get into another exchange. Ryan was warned for hitting after the break in this round. Javier scores it 10-9 Ryan

Round 5
Harris Martin was much busier this round using that uppercut that has been very effective tonight. Ryan scored with a quick combo in the middle of the round but was unable to find the mark afte that. Javier scores it 10-9 Martin

Round 6
Martin stuck to his standard one-two combo this round and kept Ryan at the end of it. Ryan managed to get in a few shots of his own but not enough to keep Martin from coming in. Javier scores it 10-9 Martin

Round 7
Both men let their hands go this round. Martin landed more punches but Ryan's seemed to be harder and more effective. Javier scores it 10-9 Ryan

Round 8
Martin was the busier fighter but didn't really land much of what he was throwing. Ryan counter punched well but didn't throw very many punches. Javier scores it 10-9 Ryan

Round 9
Ryan is proving to be a superior counter puncher but Martin is landing some big uppercuts that look to be wearing on Ryan as this fight continues. Javier scores it 10-9 Martin

Round 10
Martin came out swinging to open the round but Ryan caught him with a big counter punch that put him flat on his back. Martin regained his feet at the count of 8 and for the next minute or so took a heck of a beating. After Martin regained his senses he took back over the round but it may have been too little too late. Martin's left eye appears to be swelling up after that round. Javier scores it 10-8 Ryan

Round 11
Martin did not appear to be suffering any effects from the knockdown in the last round as he resumed his attack. Martin was warned for using his shoulders in the clinch. Soon after that he missed a big shot on Ryan and the latter caught him with a big body shot that dropped the champ to his knees. Martin regained his feet at the count of four and the round ended. Javier scores it 10-8 Ryan

Round 12
Martin comes out on a head hunting mission this round and Ryan is willing to trade early. Ryan gets warned for holding and hitting. Martin kept coming forward and Ryan continued to counter punch. Martin stepped in to work the body, Ryan side stepped and threw a quick combination to the head of Martin that put him down on the canvas again. This time Martin is unable to regain his feet and Ryan gets the knockout victory and is the new WBC middleweight champion.

Punchstats: Martin 210 of 1294 with 16.2% accuracy/ Ryan 264 of 454 with 58.1% accuracy

(WBC) Tommy Ryan 23-0-0 (14) (KO 12) Harris Martin 24-1-0 (16)
*Martin left the ring while Ryan was celebrating but we did speak to Ryan, "I'm thrilled to have been able to fight as well as I did. Martin kept coming forward which threw me off early but once I figured out what he kept doing I just waited for the opening and made it count when it was there. Martin was a good champion, I just hope to be as good as he was."

If it weren't for Bob Fitzsimmons he would still be the real Champ but he has to settle for a secondary belt for now. Maybe a unification fight could happen in the future.

The "City (San Francisco) Bantamweight Title" was at stake. The two boxers had fought seventy-five rounds at the same venue on the evening of June 3, 1890, but the boring bout was stopped at 2 a.m. and was to resume at 8 p.m. Bogan's listed opponent was "Dan Hawkins." The last fifteen rounds of the bout was "very satisfactory."
World title, city title - what's the difference? The fact that the referee left and they had to finish the next day makes it even better!
