49.0 to 48.5, doesn't get any closer than that! Gilbert Roman byKO7 and byKO1, OUCH! 61 fights in real life and never before KO'd. "St. Louis Sluggers" seem to be on bad luck string.

Maybe a new ring card girl will provide Roman with motivation to see the 2nd round and on?

These are some of my favorites.

... but don't think she can push us over the top. Aragon losing twice is baffling, and Lonnie Bennett beating my LH's?

The Villebillies are mourning the loss of thier all-time favorite fighter ... I'd dedicate the rest of the season to him but we are really bad.

Honestly a part of me died reading this story this morning. I don't recall a single celebrity death ever hurting me this bad.

My first real memory of boxing was going over to my grandfather's house in the late 70's and watching Arguello fight. Every time he was on I was there. My grandfather was a mean man but he was always nice to me because of our boxing connection. I even remember taunting him when Arguello fought Mancini saying Boom Boom was gonna get him. He just laughed and told me in broken English just to wait (my grandfather was born and raised in Mexico).

Later he took me to Sarge Johnson's gym and I learned to box there and met Marvin Johnson also. No one spoke to my grandfather for almost 10 years, he had banished everyone. He called my mom back in March because my 87 y/o grandmother had broken her hip. I wasn't able to go up then but he let my mom. Early this afternoon I called my grandfather and talked boxing with him for almost an hour. At 85 he is still as sharp as a tack. He remembered all of it and even laughed at me still for thinking Mancini would beat him.

As I said earlier a part of me died when I heard this news today. Sorry to take up this thread with this ... not much else I have thought about today.

Great match. Tough loss to swallow and believe me..I understand about losing in the UTBA. Well,my Left Jab boys are 2-1 but not really scoring the points necessary to be a playoff team. My heavyweights continue to disappoint the hell out of me.

Aw man,I just read on here about Arguello,I havent had my pc(in the shop for past 2 weeks)in the past few weeks and have been out of the loop just using an old relic to check email(about all it will do...runs windows millenium LOL)and am now crushed after learning of the passing of Arguello. He was one of my all-time favorites. Great fighter and an even greater person. Man,ruined my night.
