![]() Great match Matt. I can just see it now . . Ortiz taking a beating from Vic in the last fight and everyone screaming in the Diggstown Camp . . DON'T GO DOWN!! or yelling at the ref to stop it. I checked the rules and didn't see anything, what if it was a tie? Fight the whole card again seems like the only reasonable thing to do, no?? I guess the Ringers will be going up the road to check out Hebron . . . The streets of Hartford are buzzing with UTBA talk!

I guess there really isn't anything in the rules about a playoff tie. As the match was going on, I was wondering how to handle it. Hopefully there will be no ties in the Silver Conference Championship or the UTBA-II Title Match. After the season, I'll put up a poll to address how to handle playoff ties. (I think that replaying the entire match is a viable option, but there might be alternate ideas.) |

Here is the bout log for the infamous last bout of the Gold Conference Championship match between Vic Darchinyan & Eric Ortiz.
If Darchinyan had scored a KO, the match would have ended in a tie. Ortiz took a pounding, but managed to get up after all 3 knockdowns before referee Juergen Langos stops the contest. Round 1 Time Commentary Points 0:00 Here come the fighters to ring center as the bell sounds to begin the first round. 0:0 0:09 There's a lot of excitement surrounding this fight. The fans are really in to it. 0:0 0:21 * Ortiz goes down!! he walked right into a wicked hook from Darchinyan!! 0:0 0:24 Langos crouches over Ortiz and begins to count.. 6:0 0:24 1... 6:0 0:25 2... 6:0 0:26 3... 6:0 0:26 * Ortiz is up, but not out of the woods yet as he still looks groggy. 6:0 0:26 Langos wipes Ortiz's gloves as he asks him if he wants the fight to go on... Ortiz nods his head and the action resumes. 6:0 0:26 Darchinyan has Ortiz hurt very early in this round, it will be hard for Ortiz to weather this storm! 6:0 0:26 * That last shot stunned Eric Ortiz and it looks like Darchinyan is going to receive an added benefit from the punch because Ortiz is now bleeding. 7:0 0:26 A cut on the inside of Eric Ortiz's left eyebrow is trickling blood down his face. It's following a path along his nose and around his lip but it does not appear to be getting into his eye at this point. 7:0 0:26 It's only the first round and that cut will alter Ortiz's strategy. 7:0 0:44 * Darchinyan lands a wild looping right and Ortiz hits the deck!! That punch came from the third row!! 7:0 0:46 Langos starts the count... 16:0 0:46 1... 16:0 0:47 2... 16:0 0:48 3... 16:0 0:49 4... 16:0 0:50 5... 16:0 0:51 6... 16:0 0:52 7... 16:0 0:53 8... 16:0 0:53 * Eric Ortiz beats the count, but he appears to be hurt badly! 16:0 0:53 Langos gives Ortiz a quick once over and decides to let the fight go on. 16:0 0:53 Darchinyan picks up the pace sensing he can get Ortiz out of there! 16:0 01:10 * A beautiful hook to the chin knocks Ortiz to the canvas! 16:0 01:12 Langos moves into position over Ortiz and begins the count 25:0 01:12 1... 25:0 01:13 2... 25:0 01:14 3... 25:0 01:15 4... 25:0 01:16 5... 25:0 01:17 6... 25:0 01:18 7... 25:0 01:19 8... 25:0 01:19 * Ortiz is hurt, but manages to regain his feet.. 25:0 01:19 Ortiz tries to steady himself as Langos takes a good look at him. he appears to be ok and the fight will go on. 25:0 01:19 Darchinyan knows he has Ortiz hurt as he wades in swinging! 25:0 01:33 Darchinyan cuts loose with a combination and the crowd roars, but the truth is none of those punches landed. Ortiz had his elbows tucked in nicely. 25:0 01:39 Ortiz slides into a neutral corner... 25:0 01:44 Ortiz is either lucky or has radar. Darchinyan's last punch missed landing by a fraction of an inch! 25:0 01:54 Darchinyan is stalking his opponent. 25:0 02:03 Darchinyan drops his shoulder as if to throw a right, then quickly rips a quick left hook to the body. 29:0 02:03 Ortiz appears shaken by those punches! 29:0 02:21 Darchinyan looks to land a combination but misses the mark. 29:0 02:28 Darchinyan traps Ortiz in the corner! 29:0 02:33 Darchinyan dips as if to launch a body shot, then goes upstairs with a quick hook to the head that puts Ortiz back on his heels! 34:0 02:33 How is Ortiz standing after that? 34:0 02:37 * Ortiz is exhausted. Langos jumps in and is waving it off!! It's over! The winner by TKO here in round 1...Darchinyan! 34:0 |

Unfortunately, I cannot run the Silver Conference Championship match tonight. I need to go back into work for a couple hours of OT.
The match will be run tomorrow. |

Congrats to Thunder and his Ringers on an excellent win. I can't imagine it being much closer. Schmeling looked more like Schmuckling tonight. Maybe a case of H1N1? Who knows, at any rate, the torch has been passed.

A great match between 2 great teams! 2 majority decisions and 1 split decision in the second half also were huge factors

Nevada?!? What's wrong with a neutral site like Waterbury? Some guy named Rowland wants to be one of the judges.
Good match SAL - that second half started looking scarey. Honestly, I'm not sure it mattered if the Ringers or Beavers won, Hebron may not be able to run with either of them. |
