Good match up Dave, your guys kept it close to the very end. I was concerned going into the final week.
Good luck in the playoffs everyone.

Wow, tight finish, looks like Chilton and the the Nobodies are tied for the Silver wildcard, pending the results of the undisputed Champions match.

How will we handle a tiebreaker if needed?

UTBA-II Regular Season (season 1) Is Over

The Regular Season is now over.

Congratulations to all teams who made the playoffs.

Of course, our 1st season is ending in a bit of controversy as we have a tie in the Silver Conference Wildcard race.

Both The Nobodies and Chilton Roughnecks finished with an identical mark of 517.5 points scored and each finished with a team W-L record of 7-3-0.

Based on the Tie-Breaker rules laid out in Post #1,

8) Ties:

Any tie for waiver rank, drafting order or seeding a team in the playoffs will be determined as follows:
1st tie-breaker......Total team Wins
2nd tie-breaker.....Total team KOs
3rd tie-breaker......Total team Unanimous decisions scored
4th tie-breaker......Total team Draws

Any tie for a team divisional championship will be determined as follows:

1st tie-breaker, Head-to-Head Record
2nd tie-breaker, Division Record
3rd tie-breaker, Conference Record
4th tie-breaker, Non-Conference Record
5th tie-breaker, Most Individual Wins
6th tie-breaker, Fewest Individual Losses

the 1st tiebreaker is Head-To-Head Record:

The Nobodies and Chilton Roughnecks did not face each other this season...

the 2nd tiebreaker is Division Record

The Nobodies Figg Divison Record is 4-2-0
Week 3: W 56.5-45.5 vs. Hebron Haymakers
Week 4: L 37.0-60.0 vs. IceTeaBoxing
Week 5: W 69.5-29.0 vs. Toronto Tornados
Week 8: L 47.0-49.0 vs. Hebron Haymakers
Week 9: W 57.5-41.0 vs. IceTeaBoxing
Week 10: W 51.5-42.0 vs. Toronto Tornados

Chilton Roughnecks Queensbury Division Record is 5-1-0
Week 1: W 57.0-46.5 vs. Punching Bags
Week 4: W 55.0-49.0 vs. Villebillies
Week 5: W 54.5-49.0 vs. Juggernaut
Week 8: W 59.0-44.5 vs. Punching Bags
Week 9: L 42.5-54.5 vs. Villebillies
Week 10: W 52.5-44.0 vs Juggernaut

Therefore, the 2nd tiebreaker has awarded the Silver Conference Wildcard to Chilton Roughnecks

==================================

The Playoffs seeds are as follows:

Gold Conference:

1 - Bear's Unstable
2 - Stockholm's Finest
3 - Suffolk Dusk Owls
4 - Bonner Springs Bald Beavers (wc)

Silver Conference:

1 - Hebron Haymakers
2 - Juggernaut
3 - Nebraska Corn Jabbers
4 - Chilton Roughnecks (wc)

=======================================

The Divisional Playoffs will be (date TBD)

Gold Conference:

Bear's Unstable vs. Bonner Springs Bald Beavers @ Paradise City AC

Stockholm's Finest vs. Suffolk Dusk Owls @ Stockholm Globe Arena

Silver Conference:

Hebron Haymakers vs. Chilton Roughnecks @ Governor's Foot Guard Hall

Juggernaut vs. Nebraska Corn Jabbers @ Fenway Park

=============================================

I will need a few days to finish up compiling the stats.

Tomorrow I will post the top-16 fighters per weight class that have qualified for the EOY Tournaments.

The Individual Points Scored Awards will follow

The EOY Awards candidates bios will take a few days to put together. (Gold/Silver MVP and Manager Of the Year)
I have decided for now that there will be no Rookie of the Year for Season 1 ONLY - due to the fact that all fighters are rookies and the candidates for MVP and ROY will probably be the same. If anyone has a better reason for having both awards in Season 1, let me know and I may change my mind.

The EOY Tournaments will occur after the Playoffs. Hopefully I can run the playoffs this weekend, but no promises.

With that tie-breaker, doesn't team wins mean the total amount of fights won during the season? If so, then The Nobodies would be the wildcard team.

Unfortunately no.

Per the tie-breaker rules on Page on of the thread:

8) Ties:

Any tie for waiver rank, drafting order or seeding a team in the playoffs will be determined as follows:

1st tie-breaker......Total team Wins
2nd tie-breaker.....Total team KOs
3rd tie-breaker......Total team Unanimous decisions scored
4th tie-breaker......Total team Draws

Any tie for a team divisional championship will be determined as follows:

1st tie-breaker, Head-to-Head Record
2nd tie-breaker, Division Record
3rd tie-breaker, Conference Record
4th tie-breaker, Non-Conference Record
5th tie-breaker, Most Individual Wins
6th tie-breaker, Fewest Individual Losses

The Total Team Wins is the 1st Tie Breaker for seeding of the playoff teams, not for breaking a tie in points accumulated. Most individual wins is the 5th tiebreaker for determining who makes the playoffs.

In the case we have here between Chilton Roughnecks and The Nobodies, both teams finished w/ 517.5 points and had an overall team record of 7-3-0. The 1st tiebreaker was head-to-head record. This was a push because they did not face each other during the regular season. Going to tiebreaker #2 (Divison Record), Chilton Roughnecks finished 5-1 in the Queensbury Division while The Nobodies finished 4-2 in the Figg Division.

I don't think that anyone could have expected a Wildcard tie in the 1st season - and it's really too bad, since both teams probably deserve a shot in the playoffs.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

But those tiebreakers are to determine who wins a division championship, not the wildcard. Using the divsion record as a tiebreaker for the wildcard would only be applicable if the two teams were in the same division.

you listed my team twice...

Man sucks to miss out on the playoffs due to tie breakers
although I do agree that division record should probably not be used for breaking ties in the WC race.

I think the following would be better:
1st tie-breaker, Head-to-Head Record
2nd tie-breaker, Conference Record
3rd tie-breaker, Most Individual Wins
4th tie-breaker, Fewest Individual Losses

Fixed the mistake w/ your team listed twice. Oops.

...

As for the tie-breakers, your suggestion sounds more reasonable, but even if it was used in this case, The Nobodies are still on the outside looking in.

Chilton Roughnecks:
Overall Record: 7-3-0
Conference Record: 6-2-0

The Nobodies:
Overall Record: 7-3-0
Conference Record: 5-3-0

If Scot (SAL) doesn't return before the beginning of Season 2, I'll open this issue up for a league vote.

Looking over the tiebreakers shouldn't we be using the first set of tiebreakers in this situation and not the second set? The second set is for breaking divisional championship ties and the Roughnecks and Nobodies aren't in the same division nor are tied for the division lead obviously. While the first set is used in ties for playoff seedings which it seems to me determining the WC is a case of. The Nobodies should be in the playoffs as they win the first tiebreaker of Total Team Wins.

As for the Tie-Breaking issue, its unfortunate that the established rules are not entirely clear with regards to the Wild Card. This will be addressed after the end of Season 1 business. It's good to see constructive comments and possible solutions presented here without any bickering. Thanks to all who have chimed in on this topic.

But for now, as acting-commissioner of UTBA-II (until SAL returns), the decision will stay as previously posted. Under the somewhat vague rules established and posted above, the Chilton Roughnecks will represent the Silver Conference as the Wild Card in the playoffs.

All opinions (especially if they feel that the decision is wrong) are welcome and encouraged. This topic will be brought up again prior to beginning Season 2.

Apologies to umk, as The Nobodies are just a deserving as Chilton Roughnecks are for a playoff spot.

I hope this decision does not cause any friction or hard feelings here. But a decision (good or bad) needs to be made, so that we can move along with the post-season, EOY Tournaments and Awards.

I will post the Individual Points Leaders / Award winners tomorrow and try to put the MVP candidate bios together.

If there are no major objections, I would like to run the first round of the playoffs on Saturday.

Because there is conflicting opinions I would not be opposed to a box off. It is great to be in the playoffs, but I want it to be fair and the Nobodies definitely deserve it just as much.

Hell, I am just happy having our losing streak end this year
