1808 Gallery of the Gallant Ballot

Attention: Voting membership of the Royal Explorers Club

Balloting for the 1808 Gallery of the Gallant is now open and will remain so for three days.

You may cast a ballot for any, all or none of the following retired pugilists:

Tinman Hooper (MW) 1789 - 1803
W19(5) / L11(3) / D3 - World Middleweight Champion & Two-time English Middleweight Champion

Hooper was the workhorse of the middleweight division for more than a decade defeating (and bowing to) nearly everyone of consequence. More than half of his professional bouts were for the English or World titles. This is Hooper's fifth and final time on the ballot.

Complete record

Jack Bartholomew (HW) 1795 - 1807
W16(4) / L13(3) / D1 - English Heavyweight Champion 1797 to 1801

Bartholomew possessed little power but was a crafty battler throughout his four year reign as English champion. In 1798, be defended against former World champion Gentleman John Jackson in a hard-fought draw.

Complete record

James Harmer (HW) 1795 - 1807
W9(3) / L18(9) / D0

Harmer served as an able trialhorse and opponent durring his thirteen years in the ring.

Complete record

Sincerely,
Lord Cornelius Acton
President, Royal Explorers Club of Glasgow.
