An Official Universe?
I've lurked moar a bit and found this forum is mostly diary related, so I don't think this is in the right place but seen as its related to universes I'll put it here.
I highly doubt there's a downloadable universe where a lot of the historic data has been inputted and its not custom data, it actually happened. So the official history if you would, so I'm thinking couldn't it be made if enough people chip in? I'm definitely motivated enough but I don't know more than enough about the very early history of boxing to do these records, I'm also unsure how to make the boxing record as everybody's is at 0-0-0 when the game starts so its kinda annoying. So, has an official universe been started or would people be interested in seeing it/working on it? Thanks. |

There have been some people who talked about it but it has never been done ... it is a huge undertaking so I doubt there would be too many interested in doing it. It took nearly round the clock effort and 6 months just to get the on-line database uniform and correct.

I agree, it would take a lot of effort. But for the wrestling simulator, they've managed to put all the real world data (including a lot of history) so I'm sure it could be done. The problem is the history dates waaaaaay too far back to make history for it all.

It would take a team of 10 or 20 over thousands of hours to collect, input and organize an "official universe". Who would pay for this enterprise? Not me. What would be the point?

I can see the point behind it but there is no way with the time involved to do it.
Maybe waaaaayyyyyyy down the road there will be a way to import the info from boxrec, like they can in OOTP with the Lahman DB. |

What do you mean, "what would be the point?" Well durp, it would restore all the data of history, feuds and whatnot so you don't get "Hatton and Mayweather haven't fought eachother" and you can have an up to date record for every boxer instead of starting a fresh which is really quite annoying.
And don't think for a second it can't be done, with enough effort and patience anything is possible. Extreme Warfare thought they'd never have real data, they did. |

That said there will need to be a starting point with records intact for the TBCB3 RPG version, whether you are using real or fictional fighters. There would need to be a csv database made up to where you could import a year and their record would be intact up to that point. That sounds like a lengthy project for someone. I doubt TBCB3 will be out anytime soon so someone with the knowledge could work on it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do something like that. |

Looking at the history, I'm starting to agree. Every little piece of every fight from the round it ended, the date, the judges and the referee would have to be inputted and thats near impossible. We're definitely going to have to wait until they implement some way of putting all the records in. It can't be that hard, can it? I mean they already got most of the stats from boxingrec.

Say you entered Jake Lamotta's history. Would you enter his entire career or just up to his prime? What was his prime? And what about the impact some of his later fights had on other fighters? And as soon as you strayed from the historical for even one bout, win or lose, you've changed the history of some other bloke.
I guess I'm just not seeing it. Cap
