Title Unification

I had a title unification in my universe tonight. Joel Casamayor and Jose Luis Castillo were matched up to unite the Lightweight Title. If it was a "pay per view fight" people would have been complaining up till around the 9th round.

Casamayor was boxing, moving, and Castillo was pursuing about a step behind. I was wondering if Castillo would be able to catch a Casamayor with a bomb before fatigue began setting in. Then, a welcomed surprise! Casamayor stops moving, sets down on his punches and opens a large cut and Castillo's forehead.

Then, a big combination opens a cut on Castillo's lip. In the 11th of the scheduled 15 rounder, Castillo makes a surprise trip to the canvas after absorbing back to back combinations from Casamayor.

In the 12th, two visits to the canvas and the red gusher on his forehead signal the end of the line for Jose Luis Castillo's title reign leaving Casamayor as the undisputed LW champion.

You've gotta love a good TBCB fight conclusion!

Sounds like it was a great finish, just the other day I was reading some posts regarding Light Heavyweights of the 70's when part of the discusion was who might have won if Marvin Johnson had fought John Conteh, and so I took a break from my Universe, and had them fight.

It was an instant classic in which both fighters suffered swelling under the eyes, and Conteh landed 320 punches to Johnson's 283 when finally in the 14th round Conteh dropped Johnson and he was unable to beat the count.

Going into the 14th round Conteh led by one point on all scorecards.

The 70's and 80's were sort of a Glory Days of Boxing which produced so many top notch, world recognized fighters in just about every division. That twenty year stretch rivals that of the 30's and 40's.

The Lightheavies produced a crop of fighters you sim fights with for hours and hours without getting bored.
