H.O.B.O. Poll

Two Unified Title holders lost one of their belts this past month. I have considered stripping them of their titles but can not make up my mind.

I went with what I do in the LBA ... if a fighter holds two titles and loses just one then he keeps the other but has to fight in an 8 man tourney.

If he owns 3 and loses one, then he forfeits one and has to fight in a tourney for the other.

I'm with mh2365 on the tournament. I guess I show my age by basing my view on what happened after Ali was banished (wrongfully) by most of the powers that be.

Tournaments are generally good for boxing and great entertainment. It opens a division up and gives greater opportunity to a larger number of boxers. Personally, the winner has a greater claim to legitimacy as the title holder. Of course when you don't have all the major boxers involved (Joe Frazier) the winner (Jimmy Ellis) lacks credibility.

As I've noted elsewhere, the 1967-68 WBA heavyweight tournament kept the division interesting in the absence of Ali.

I think once you have Unified the belts, you should be defending all the tiles at the same time, and if you lose so be it, or maybe I'm just trying to be difficult.
