World Light Heavyweight Championship Bout…15 rounds…Buffalo, NY

Joe Choynski…#1 contender
  • United States
  • Record: 48-0 (38)
  • Career stage: end
  • Conditioning: top condition

Philadelphia Jack O’Brien…#2 contender
  • United States
  • Record: 17-2 (5)
  • Career stage: pre-prime
  • Conditioning: top condition

Fight Stats
  • Result: O’Brien UD15
  • Knockdowns scored: none
  • Punching accuracy: Choynski 124/1303 (9.5%), O’Brien 454/706 (64.3%)
  • Scoring: 148-137, 149-136, 148-137 all for O’Brien

Fight recap:
The punch totals tell the story of this fight. O’Brien landed almost four times as many punches as did Choynski. The bottom line was that Choynski couldn’t hit the elusive O’Brien. Choynski only landed 9.5% of his punches. Choynski won the first round, but that was pretty much it. Round 10 was close, but O’Brien easily won every other round. Choynski just couldn’t penetrate O’Brien’s defense. Choynski took the first loss of his career, with is most likely coming to an end. O’Brien becomes the first Light Heavyweight Champion of the world.

World Featherweight Championship Bout…15 rounds…Dublin, Ireland

Jimmy Dime…#1 contender
  • Ireland
  • Record: 39-6-1 (27)
  • Age: 34
  • Career stage: post-prime
  • Conditioning: top condition

Tim Hegarty…#2 contender
  • Australia
  • Record: 28-4-1 (9)
  • Age: 23
  • Career stage: prime
  • Conditioning: top condition

Fight Stats
  • Result: Hegarty TKO5
  • Knockdowns scored: Hegarty 2, Dime 0
  • Punching accuracy: Hegarty 102-for-473 (21.6%), Dime 125-for-452 (27.7%)
  • Scoring: 40-37, 39-37, 40-36 all for Dime

Fight recap:
Both fighters entered the bout in top shape but Dime was 11 years older than Hegarty. The first round was pretty slow, with both fighters feeling each other out. Rounds 2,3 and 4 all went to Dime as he was the aggressor, landing several combinations and hurting Hegarty in each round. At the start of round 5, Hegarty had a large mouse under his left eye. Again Dime was the aggressor and then, all of a sudden, Hegarty dropped Dime with a vicious three punch combination just 48 seconds into the round. Dime made it to his feet at the count of nine but was very wobbly. Dime managed to hang on for another minute and then was dropped again by a wicked left hook. This time Dime got up at the seven count and then Hegarty continued the onslaught. The referee had seen enough and stopped the fight at the 2:46 mark. Tim Hegarty, although behind on all three cards, won the fight and became the first ever Featherweight Champion of the world.

World Middleweight Championship Bout…15 rounds…New York, NY

Jack Bonner…#1 contender
  • United States
  • Record: 23-8-3 (16)
  • Age: 25
  • Career stage: prime
  • Conditioning: top condition

Charles “Kid” McCoy…#2 contender
  • United States
  • Record: 35-2 (30)
  • Age: 27
  • Career stage: prime
  • Conditioning: top condition

Fight Stats
  • Result: McCoy TKO9
  • Knockdowns scored: none
  • Punching accuracy: Bonner 180-for-539 (33.4%), McCoy 236-for-430 (54.9%)
  • Scoring: 78-74, 77-75, 78-74 all for McCoy

Fight recap

“Kid” McCoy came into the fight with 18 straight wins, 17 via knockout. As the first round got underway, it was obvious that McCoy fans were out in force; they cheered at every punch he threw. McCoy did win the first round, but rounds two through five were fairly even; but most ringside experts gave the edge to McCoy.

Round six was all Bonner. He rocked McCoy early in the round and again as the bell sounded. McCoy was still wobbly in round seven and his left eye was badly swollen. However, this was an even round.

McCoy had his legs back by round eight and began to pepper Bonner with quick one-two combinations. Bonner was almost ready to go by the end of the round but managed to hang on.

McCoy came out like gangbusters in the 9th; intent on ending the fight. He did just that as he pummeled Bonner with a furious body attack, followed by some heavy head shots. The referee had seen enough and stopped the fight.

McCoy was crowned the first ever World Middleweight Champion.

Historical bout

McCoy TKO13

Watching this intently, looks good. I like how you show the real historical bouts result if there was one too.
