Round 6

Dempsey seems concerned about Jones' speed in the 6th and as a result, seems a bit hesitant to pull the trigger. Jones seeks to capitalize on Dempsey's hesitancy and pulls the trigger repeatedly! Good round for Roy Jones!

Round 7

Roy Jones continues to be first as Dempsey's eye begins swelling noticeably. Another clear round in Roy Jones' favor.

Round 8

Dempsey comes out throwing punches from every conceivable angle. Jones is forced to fight defensively with mixed results for the entire round! Good round for Dempsey.

Round 9

Dempsey rushes Roy Jones, but Jones times him beautifully. A short right to the temple drops Dempsey in a heap. Dempsey barely beats the count at 9 and spends the rest of the round moving like a drunk in a fire drill.

Round 10

Dempsey's as tough as nails. Just so happens that Jones's speed is taking center stage in the tenth and poundin' those nails with hammers!

Round 11

Jones keeps pounding the tough as nails Dempsey in the 11th. Dempsey's beginning to "lump up" nicely. If he were a roast... he's just about done.

Round 12

A Jones hook drops Dempsey to one knee. He rises quickly and takes more punishment. Jones seems tired. Dempsey's fighting with the ferocity of a corpse.

Round 13

Dempsey makes 3 visits to the canvas in the 13th round! One 5 count and 2 - 8 counts! One more visit to the floor and someone should give the man a frequent flyer bonus! Dempsey has been reduced to a bloody, lumped up mass of flesh in trunks. God, I love this sport!

Round 14

A huge right cross from Roy Jones send Jack to the canvas yet again! I almost wanted to rush into the ring and slip a pillow beneath his head to make him more comfortable . But no!! Dempsey's up at 7 mumbling, "You can't knock me out Roy, you can't knock me out..."

Round 15

Roy plays it safe in the 15th, but Dempsey's not content to survive. He stumbles forward and takes whatever he has left to Roy until the final bell!

We're going to the scorecards!

Marvin Hagler vs. Nigel Benn

Marvin Hagler brought a pillow to the press conference for this fight saying, "I like Nigel Benn. That's why I'm bring this pillow with me to the fight. That way, when he's out cold on the floor, I'll slip this under his head to make sure I'm doing my part to make sure he's comfortable." This was Hagler's response to Nigel's Benn's comment, "Marvin Hagler is the most overrrated fighter in this history of the Middleweight division. He struggled in his first meeting with Vito Antuofermo and struggle against Leonard and Duran - two blown up Welterweights, at best."

The Fight

Benn goes right after Hagler from the opening bell and enjoys some success, rocking Hagler with several hard punches. Benn's strategy, however, brings out the best in Hagler as the Marvelous One begins chopping away at Benn with crisp, accurate counter punches.

A counter hook in the 5th breaks Benn's nose badly and it bleed profusely until a bleeding and battered Benn finally comes to the end of the road in the 10th. Benn finished the fight on his feet, but was a bloody, lumped up mess whe the fight was stopped with seconds remaining in the round.

Nino, Nino, Nino. I actually think he may be in over his head in this one.

He knocked Luis out cold with one hook. Probably his most impressive win imo.

Nino really surprised me with not just the victory, but the stoppage victory.
Next, Bernard Hopkins will be facing Sugar Ray Leonard. Round-By-Round coverage is only hours away .
