If the 10 point must system had been in effect, it would have been a majority draw!

It was a great fight to sim!

I'm using the round scoring system for my Flyweight tourney and am about ready to start the Sweet 16. So after well over 500 fights using the round system, I've become well aware of the vagarities of it... To be honest, I kind of like it as it makes each round more vital!

One for the ages. A terrific fight Jim, and perhaps one that may see a rematch in their future.

You're right. With the rounds system, a puncher doesn't have the luxury a grabbing extra point with knockdowns. He either wins a single round or he doesn't. It's like having 10 or 15 mini-fights. Whoever wins the most fights, wins "the" fight. But each little mini-fight stands alone.

Under the points, it's like have one large, cumulative fight. Extra points are given for knocking a man down. Imagine if extra points were given for other things, like cause an opponent to swell up, or cutting an opponent with a legal punch?

I know, I obviously have too much time on my hands. Either that or I type to fast for my own good!

Their original meeting in the first Murray Woroner tournament in 1967 went the same way. It was a very close decision win for Sugar Ray.

I had a chance to meet Sugar Ray back in 1987 (or thereabouts). I remember it was a few years before he died which is why I could kick myself for not going.

I was all goo-goo eyed over this girl, I think her name was Linda?

Anyway, I won't make those type of mistakes anymore!
