New York Next

97 Heavies, 33 LHW, 56 MW and 50 WW.
So now I am thinking about how the 2nd and 3rd rounds are going to go. I figure 97 HW will yield maybe 10-20 or more 3-0 fighters. I had given some thought to a 4 fighter tournament based on performance points. Then again, with the random fights, a fighter rated 10 might miss out because of the quality of opponents. So the Variant commisioner has decided that two fights with no victory is the ticket out of the tournament. LL, DD, LD and your done. Anybody have another idea??

What I'd do is have the first round be a fight-in round. With 97 fighters we want to pair it down to 64 entries for the first round. Thus we need to have 33 fights among the 66 lowest seeded fighters. Each of the 66 fighters has 1 fight...at the end of which 33 are eliminated leaving your field of 64.

I might give that a try.
Meanwhile, one upset here in part 2 was John Lester Johnson (6) was Ko'd in the 9th by Solider Kearns (0). Johnson had knocked down Kearns in the 8th, but Kearns laned a vicious hook late in the 9th to secure a win.

New York Heavy Round 1 Pt3

There were a couple of fights that I watched. Gerry Cooney (8) lost to Jack Townsend (0) Townsend opened a cut on Cooney's forehead that his corner could not control and Townsend had an upset TKO5 for cuts.
Carl"The Truth" Willimas (7) pounded his opponet Pedro Soto (2) for 6 rounds before the bout was stopped. Harry Wills (11) one of my favorites, defeated Mitch Green (5), but it was close with a UD. Now to the NY Lightheavies.

New York MW Round 1 Part 1

Jake LaMotta (12) is in this group, won his fight, going the full 10 rounds v. Paddy Ypong (7) Harry Smith (11) might be the one to stop LaMotta in this group. Smith was one of the "Colored" champions in his day, and gave me an idea for when I finish this uni...2 or 3 years from now.
I think I will search out all the "Colored" Champions and have them fight their white counterpart. Jack Dempsey can't duck Harry Wills any longer!
Let me guess, that's been done.

New York WW Round 1

I know everybody was looking for that Tony Danza result in the middleweight list

Surgar Ray Robinson (15) is the best of this grouping. He had little problem with Joe Miceli (3) with a KO in 6.

Ohio Heavyweight

Two nights in a row I had the game crash while setting up the autoscheduler...both times I thought screw it and called it a night.
There were a couple of suprises.
Hank Hankinson (3) defeats Earnie Shavers(9) by Majority Decision.
Hankinson scored often with a 54% punch accuarcy to Shavers 26%. Shavers was cut early in the fight over the right eyebrow that caused him problems thought out the fight.

I didn't check the save bout for the Buster Douglas (9) v Patsy Perroni (6) (had a crash again tonight). Perroni wins by unanimous decision. Looking at the summary Douglas also had problems with landing punches.
