World Premier Boxing League

I have been looking for something different to do during Football Season since my time is limited and I can't put the time into RCB consistently, so I decided to set up a structure based on the English Premier League (Soccer) that incorporates no weight limits of penalties and allows fighters to fight on equal footing, with battles for promotion and relegation between the Leagues. All fights are 15 rounds.

Here is the set up.
  • First I added a 1000 tomato cans with the RFG across the span of my Universe. This will help keep bodies on the lower leagues for fodder as I go.

  • The League will be formed in 1880 so all RL Fighters who debuted during or before 1880 are included. I simmed a brief history to get rankings to populate the initial league structure.

  • Each year fighters will debut as they did in RL and start in the lowest league as beginners and then have to fight their way up to the Premier League

League Structure
  • WBPL (World Boxing Premier League) This is the top league and feature the best 16 fighters in the world based on accumulated performance points. (Year to Year) Each fighter will fight the others in the league once during the course of a season (calendar year) The top ranked fighter at the end of the year is the WBPL Champion (The highest honor in the sport) and the bottom 4 get relegated.

  • QBL (Queensbury Boxing League) The second flight, also features 16 Fighters who fight each other once a year. The top 4 get promoted to the premier league and the bottom four get relegated (2 to NBL-1 and 2 to NBL-2)

  • NBL 1 and NBL 2 (National Boxing Leagues) The third tier with each league having 12 fighters, who fight every other fighter once each year. At years end the top 2 in both NBL-1 and NBL-2 are promoted to the QBL. The bottom 2 in each league are relegated to the dreaded RBF.

  • RBF (Regional Boxing Fegerations) A none league affiliate of loosely organized groups featuring all fighters that are not in the League structure. There are no schedules and no minimum/maximum numbers of fights. Fighters at this tier are at the mercy of the Promoters (Auto Scheduler) and can only hope they get enough fights/points to finish in the top four each year, where 2 will get promoted to the NBL-1 and 2 will get promoted to the NBL-2, a daunting task to say the least. Many fighters will toil at this level their entire careers.

The Premier division is well sticked for the initial campaign with stalwarts such as Charley Mitchell, George Godfrey and Jake Kilrain making the cut. The surprise is the table leader heading into the campaign John Knifton. Criticized for building his record against weak opponents the pundits expect Knifton to tumble from his lofty perch in short order within his first four fights, which include a brutal three fight stretch with Farnan, Godfrey and Heenan.

The second tier of the World Boxing League features several top fighters that will be in contention for promtion to the Premier division, led by the "Professors" Miller and Hadley, as well as George Rooke, Joe Goss and Tom Sayers. This promises to be an exciting season for fans of the Queensbury Division as no fewer than 7 fighters stand a legitimate chance to earn promotion.

I'd put early money on George Godfrey.

This is a nifty idea Lee.

Thanks Chris, I redid the original format and started over. What I have in mind now will move a lot faster and I think looks a bit slicker. Wait until you see where John L Sullivan starts.....Will most fighters were building their records the last 4 years he was apparently drinking and running up tabs at local brothels.

The Godfrey / Farnan round 1 match should be a great scrap to kick off the season.
