St. Nicholas Arena, New York, NY, USA

WW: Jimmy Doyle 19-4-2 (2) UD 8 Bob Robinson 8-9-1
The so far unnoticed of the welterweights fought a perfect fight and scored a shutout as he remains #9.

MW: Jake LaMotta 18-3-2 (9) KO 8 Dennis Phelps 9-9-4 (3)
LaMotta outhustled Phelps and tired him out for an easy knockout. LaMotta improves to #26.

MW: Billy Arnold 16-2 (12) KO 5 Herman Allen 11-12-1 (1)
Arnold scored three knockdowns and had no trouble in the fight as he improves to #10.

LHW: Leonard Morrow 19-1 (15) KO 5 Edward Sullivan 12-12-2 (2)
Morrow suffered the first knockdown of his career in the 4th, but recoverd and knocked Sullivan out in the 5th as he remains #12.
Co-feature (live)

LHW: Ezzard Charles 16-0 (12) vs Dennis Powell 10-6-2 (4)

The exciting light-heavyweight #4 should get another W here.

Round 1

Great round for Charles who pounds Powell to the floor and the cuts him with a great hook. 10-8 Ezzard Charles

Round 2

Charles landed two big shots and Powell tasted the canvas again. 20-16 Ezzard Chales

Round 3

The cut of Powell worsens and the ringside doctor gives advice to end the fight.

Ezzard Charles TKO 3 Dennis Powell

Good showing as Ezzard Charles improves to 17-0 with 13 knockouts.

Main event (live)

MW: Randy Turpin 22-0 (17) vs Joe Curcio 14-7-2 (4), 8 rounds

The fast and versatile, middleweight #1 takes on a nice challenge in Joe Curcio.

Round 1

Turpin is dishing out a beating to Curcio and it is impressive that he withtstood Turpins power shots for a full three minutes. A 2 point round. 10-8 Randy Turpin.

Round 2

Curcio looks to be winning the round with crisp counter-punching, but is hurt badly at the end. 20-17 Randy Turpin

Round 3

Dull round for the most part as Turpin tries but can't find his mark, and Curcio lands three or four meaningless counters, until Turping lands a big hook at the end to win the round. 30-26 Randy Turpin

Round 4

Tactical round with both looking to find the distance. Too close to call. 40-36 Randy Turpin

Round 5

Curcio is tiring out and it shows as he is beat to the punch consistently and then hurt by big shots. Big round for Turpin. 50-45 Randy Turpin

Round 6

Turpin wobbles Curcio and looks to land that one big shots, and although he gets in some combos he can't seem to get his man to the floor. 60-54 Randy Turpin

Round 7

Turpin keeps landing massive shots, and a straight right finally gets Curcio down and out.

Randy Turpin KO 7 Joe Curcio

Great display of power and speed as Turpin hammered Curcio and stays on top of the middleweight division while he improves to 23-0 with 18 knockouts.

Boston Arena, Boston, MA, USA

LW: Bombon Oriental 17-5 (11) KO 6 Cliff Anderson 13-6-4 (2)
The cuban improves to #9 in the lightweight divsion with a nice KO win.

WW: Norman Rubio 16-3 (2) UD 8 Connie Thies 4-4-1
Rubio was stunned in the 5th, but dominated all other rounds for a wide decision as he remains #15.

HW: Bob Satterfield 19-3 (18) KO 4 Steven Glasgow 15-5-1 (1)
Very tough test for the popular Satterfield who was knocked down in the 1st round, but then recovered to dominate end knock Glasgow out in the 4th as he improves to #7.

Main Event

FW: Sandy Saddler 20-0 (18) KO 4 Murugayan Berbasa 6-7-3
Saddler pounded Berbasa and was the first guy to ever knock him down, let alone out. Saddler still looks like the main challenger to Willie Pep as he remains #2 in the strong featherweight division.

Undercard

MW: Walter Cartier 15-1-2 (6) Draw 8 Anh Bilh 10-9-3 (2)
Cartier was winning a close fight until Bilh scored a knockdown in the 8th to manage a draw. Cartier drops to #15.

LW: Hoacine Khalfi 8-1-2 (1) UD 8 John L Davis 17-2-2 (3)
Khalfi outslugged Davis in a mild upset as the algerian improves to #20 while Davis drops to #21.

MW: Alfredo Durán 13-8-1 (7) UD 8 Carl Olson 21-1 (13)
Massive, massive upset as Olson was just looking to keep busy and keep his #2 position in the middleweights as Durans great defense was too much for Olson who even suffered a knockdown in the 5th. Duran takes a big jump to #22 while Olson drops dramatically from #2 to #23.

Live

LW: Wesley "Chocolate Blur" Mouzon 21-1-1 (7) vs Matthew DeJong 14-12-3 (3), 10 rounds

Wesley Mouzon is currently the main man at lightweight and ranked #1 by the ring and looks to keep busy against australian DeJong who is coming off the greatest win of his career so far, as he outpointed Jonathan Green (16-8-2, with 6 KOs) and as such should have loads of confidence, but even so, he is not expected to cause too much trouble for the great counter-puncher Mouzon. Wesley is coming off being knocked down, and winning, twice in a row, against Wallace Smith (9-2-1, 0 KOs) and Danny Webb (15-6-2, 6 KOs) and as such his chin could pose a problem for him in the long run. Mouzons sole loss came by way of a split decision against Joe Brown (21-1, 13 KOs, ranked #11) and the draw against Emile De Cristo (10-8-4, 1 KO) in Mouzons pro debut.

Round 1: Mouzon is moving around, flicking punches at DeJong and landing the occasional quick shot. 10-9 Wesley Mouzon

Round 2: Mouzon smothers all of DeJongs attempts to attack with a clinch, but for the most part he is just moving around DeJong who attempts to cut off the ring. A hard round too call as neither really got anything off. 20-19 Wesley Mouzon

Round 3: DeJong manages to cut the ring off and land a big right, the best punch of the fight. DeJong jumps at him, which was a bad decision as Mouzons great counter-punching comes alive and a left hook to the body and then a three punch combo lands. Mouzon works the body as he sees an opportunity to tire DeJong. Mouzon is hurting DeJong with these body shots, and the occasional punch to the head. DeJong staggers back to a corner as Mouzon keeps landing. A hook to the body followed by a big right hand up top sends DeJong to the floor. DeJong can't get up.

Wesley Mouzon KO 3 Matthew DeJong

Mouzon showed that he punishes you if you get over-confident, and improves to 22-1-1 with 8 knockouts. "Chocolate Blur" is still #1 in the lightweight division.

Pacific Athletic Club, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Undercard

MW: Rocky Castellani 18-1-2 (4) UD 8 Pepe Santos 4-3-2
Castellani didn't get it as easy as expected, but in the end there was no question about the outcome. The Luzerne Middleweight improves to #7.

MW: Paddy Young 19-1 (9) UD 8 Sergeant Lou Woods 10-7-3 (4)
Back and forward fight that had Young landing more in most rounds. Paddy Young improves to #3.

FW: Tommy Collins 19-0 (17) KO 4 William Forrester 11-12-2 (2)
Collins was in control from the opening bell, and scored a knockdown in the 3rd, before ending this mismatch in the 4th. "Irish Tommy" remains #3 in the featherweight division.

Live

LW: Art "Golden Boy" Aragon 18-0 (8) vs Arthur Persley 8-1
8 rounds of boxing from Los Angeles, USA

Art Aragons finest win came in his 6th pro fight as he scored three knockdowns and outpointed mexican Enrique Bolanos (6-0 with 4 KOs coming into the fight, 13-3 with 10 KOs now). Aragon is one of those boxers who does everything well, he has never been knocked down, he scores a fair amount of knockdowns himself and he outlands his opponents in nearly all rounds. It has to be mentioned, though, that he does nothing great either.

Arthur Persleys sole loss came against mediocre journeyman Pierre Chevalier, and he is yet to defeat a guy with a positive record. He is not a hard-hitter, but he is fast and skilled and does well both inside and outside.

Round 1: Aragon comes out hard and lands a big combination. It seems like Aragon is looking for the big shots, while Persley is landing quick shots, clinching alot, moving in and out and focusing on his defense. Aragon lands occasionally, but not enough.
10-9 Arthur Persley

Round 2: Aragon comes out with some lead rights, but the second he gets over-confident, Persley counters with some punches that doesn't hurt, but score. Aragon is doing much better this round. 19-19 even

Round 3: Both fighters do their thing, Aragon is looking for the bigger shots, Persley focusing on his defense and landing quick shots. This round, Persley does it better. 29-28 Arthur Persley

Round 4: Aragon stuns Persley, who keeps landing flicking punches. Too close to call, this one. 39-38 Arthur Persley

Round 5: Aragon stuns Persley early and late in the round, while Persley lands his jab and his quick shots inside. Aragon is best though, as he has more intent behind his shots. 48-48 even

Round 6: Aragon lands the best shot of the fight as he connects with a big hook to the body. Aragon lands a couple of more shots, and as the storm seems to be weathering Aragon connects with another big body shot that drops Persley. Persley is unable to get up.

Art Aragon KO 6 Arthur Persley

"Golden Boy" had his trouble with the skill and speed of Persley, but finished when he got the chance and improves to 19-0 with 9 knockouts and is now #2. Persley joins the ranks at #44.

Friday Night Fights

Undercard

LHW: Bert Lytell 23-1 (2) UD 8 Justin Hayes 8-7-1
Lytell dominates the fight and scores a shutout as he improves to #15.

HW: Lou Brooks 17-3 (7) KO 7 Jimmy Carollo 10-8-4 (4)
Brooks got the better of the bout throughout and a big punch ended it in the 7th. Brooks remains #8 in the weak heavyweight division.

HW: Embrell Davidson 9-0 (6) KO 2 Susumu Murakami 10-8-1 (9)
Davidson was pretty cautious, but in the 2nd he landed big and ended the fight.

Live main event

HW: Rocky "The Brockton Blockbuster" Marciano 11-0 (10) vs Willie "Cadillac" James 11-3 (4)
8 rounds of boxing from Boston, USA.

The exciting young hard-hitter Rocky Marciano has been very impressive thus far in his career as his only non-KO victory came by decision, after scoring five (5!) knockdowns in the fight. His finest win came versus south-african Johnny Ralph (11-4-1, 5 KOs).

Round 1: Marciano quickly gets the ring cut off and lands a vicious hook. Marciano has patience and picks his moment to land another big hook, and a big right cross and he sees his opponent hurt. Many more big shots land in the rest of the round.
10-9 Rocky Marciano

Round 2: Marciano keeps on pounding James, but slowly James finds his rythm and lands a jab here and there. Small round for Rocky.
20-18 Rocky Marciano

Round 3: James keeps giving his best and hurts Marciano with a big shot, before Marciano lands some good shots of his own. James gets in another, that Marciano answers to with a big right. Some nice shots gets in for Rocky to win the round.
30-27 Rocky Marciano

Round 4: Marciano opens with great punches, then James stuns Rocky with some big shots, before Marciano lands his frightening straight right hand that sends Willie James to the canvas. He attempted, but was never getting up from that.

Rocky Marciano KO 4 Willie James

Another showing of his crazy power, as Rocky Marciano improves to 12-0 with 11 knockouts and is now ranked #4.

Undercard

LW: Henry Davis 23-1 (3) SD 8 Donovan Jackson 6-7-1
Davis has had big trouble recovering from the first loss of his career, a knockout versus Danny Webb, as he only just eeked out decisions in his now three latest bouts. He remains #10.

LHW: Yvon Durelle 14-0-3 (4) UD 8 Il-young Cho 10-11 (6)
Only an 8th round knockdown secured him a one point decision. Durelle improves to #11.

LHW: Joey Maxim 14-1-1 (4) TKO 3 Frank Sanders 11-8-1 (4)
Maxim teed off when the fight was rightly stopped. Maxim moves up to #8.

MW: Bungay Montoya 8-10-6 (2) TKO 6 Anton Raadik 21-3 (12)
Really bad luck for Raadik who was cut from a punch in the 1st round, dominated the fight and had won all rounds when it was stopped as the cut was too bad for the estonian to go on. Raadik drops massively to #38.

LHW: Oakland Billy Smith 18-0 (7) TKO 4 John Abbott 12-7-1 (4)
A cut from a punch ended the fight, after Smith had dominated all rounds. Oakland Billy Smith goes past Ezzard Charles for the #3 spot in the light-heavyweight division.

Live

LHW: Tommy Yarosz 24-1 (5) vs Tomas Falk 11-12-2
10 rounds of boxing from Pittsburgh, USA

The #1 ranked light-heavyweight keeps busy with a fight against swedish Tomas Falk.

Yarosz holds some fine wins against Charley Williams, Jack A. Johnson and Alex Buxton. His sole loss was suffered at the fists of Jimmy Bivins as he was knocked down twice in losing a decision. Yarosz has many qualities, punching power not being one of them as he has only scored one knockdown in his career.

Round 1: Yarosz pumps his nice jab, and lands one big combo in an easy 1st round for him.
10-9 Tommy Yarosz

Round 2: Yarosz moves and flicks punches in. Yarosz is scoring in great fashion here, although without hurting Falk.
20-18 Tommy Yarosz

Round 3: Falk did more work and grabbed the round.
29-28 Tommy Yarosz

Round 4: Yarosz accuracy wins the round.
39-37 Tommy Yarosz

Round 5: Business as usual.
49-46 Tommy Yarosz

Round 6: Yarosz might look in control, but he is not doing enough work.
Even round. 59-56 Tommy Yarosz

Round 7: Yarosz is looking lazy here.
68-66 Tommy Yarosz

Round 8: This is what we were waiting for. Yarosz pounding Falk.
78-75 Tommy Yarosz

Round 9: Falk landing nothing, Yarosz a little bit.
88-84 Tommy Yarosz

Round 10: Yarosz outboxing Falk. 98-93 Tommy Yarosz

Scorecards read: 97-93, 98-93 and 97-93 all for Tommy Yarosz

Tommy Yarosz UD 10 Tomas Falk

Tommy Yarosz retains his #1 spot and improves to 25-1 with 5 knockouts.

Undercard

FLY: Mejdan Kijani 6-13-7 (1) DQ 2 Taffy Hancock 15-2 (10)
Hancock was pounding Kijani until a stupid low blow cost him the fight. Going into the fight #2, he is now ranked #24, while Kijani takes the #23 spot.

HW: Johnny Williams 16-2-1 (5) UD 8 Archie McBride 7-6 (3)
Williams scored a knockdown in the 1st, but looked unimpressive in an easy decision victory. The welshman is still #6 in a weak heavyweight division.

BW: Peeter Keenan 7-0-1 (2) UD 8 Byron Simpson 16-3 (9)
Impressive win for "the glasgow ring tiger" as he pounds australian Byron Simpson who was #7 going in to the ring and #11 going out. Keenans accuracy and speed was the main difference as he hammered Simpson to the floor twice in a wide decision.

Live

HW: Don Cockell 19-0-1 (9) vs Earl "The Hooded Terror" Walls 8-1-1 (4)
8 rounds of heavyweight boxing from London, England

The solid london heavyweight looks to keep his #2 place and as such his place in the world championship tournaments in 1950. Canadian Earl Walls is not too shabby either though as the allrounder only has one major weakness, his chin, and with Cockell being the hardest puncher he has fought (although he is no hard-hitter) that could pose a problem.

Round 1: Walls gets the first punch of the fight in, and follows it with two big shots that sees Cockell stunned. A big hook then seems to do some damage and it looks like Cockell might have a broken jaw here in the 1st! This actually seemed to ignite the brit who got in some shots, only to lose some big exchanges and the round. 10-9 Earl Walls

Round 2: Alot of clinching. Cockell gets in some flicks, Walls a big body shot in a close round. 20-19 Earl Walls

Round 3: Cockell is defending himself and landing counters. Walls gets in a big shot to the body in another close round, although Cockell did better work. 29-29 even

Round 4: Cockell lands a hard shot and immediately turns around, grimacing his face in pain! It seems he has injured his hand and can't go on.

Earl Walls TKO 4 Don Cockell

Upset here as canadian Walls gets the win against an unlucky Don Cockell and improves to 9-1-1 with 5 KOs while Don Cockell drops to 19-1-1 with 9 KOs. Walls takes the #10 spot, while Cockell drops down just below him and is now ranked #11.

Undercard

MW: Joey DeJohn 22-4 (15) UD 10 Edgardo Lopez 13-12 (5)
Tough fight, but a clear decision for DeJohn who improves to #23.

MW: Dave Sands 20-1 (10) UD 8 Arnold Schmidt 13-9-2 (2)
The aussie scores a near shutout win as he improves to #2 in the middleweight division.

Live

WW: "Sugar" Ray Robinson 22-0 (18) vs Teddy Webber 10-10-4 (5)
8 round of welterweight boxing live from Chicago, USA.

The incredibly skilled, fast and powerful welterweight has already racked up some nice wins. Most notable is the one against current #3 Frankie Fernandez. Now he looks to stay in the mix for the world championships in boxings most exciting division right now, against dutch Teddy Webber who should not pose a problem.

Round 1: Shocking start as Webber lands a massive left hand that hurts Sugar Ray. His legs look bad! Robinson uses his great defense to weather the storm for now and start scoring his jab. Robinson seems angry now and lands massive shots to the body as he pounds away. 10-9 Ray Robinson

Round 2: Robinson lands a furious combination that drops Webber to the canvas. Webber makes it up, but looks out of it. Robinson goes downtown and makes Webber lose his legs and go down once more. He is not getting up from that!

Ray Robinson KO 2 Teddy Webber

Robinson was hurt early and it seemed as if he was about to suffer the 1st knockdown of his pro career, but he survived and what a response! Hammering the dutchman until he was down and out!

Ray Robinson improves to 23-0 with 19 knockouts and is now ranked #3.

Live main event

LW: Tommy Campbell 18-1 (11) vs Joe "Old Bones" Brown 21-1 (13)
8 rounds of lightweight boxing live from Chicago, USA.

Make or break for both fighters. The winner could very well be a part of the 4-man tourney of 1950 to crown a new champion, while the loser has very little chance of recovering fast enough to gain a top 4 ranking. The versatile Campell versus the speddy Brown. Should be a great fight.

Round 1: Brown is very active, Campbell is very effective. Campell lands a big cross down the pipe. Both fighters get in a right hand. 10-9 Tommy Campbell

Round 2: Brown is getting in his jab and his cross nicely, while Campbell lands it, but not as often. Great action in the round. 19-19

Round 3: All-out action as Brown seems to be taking control, when he lands a low blow that seems him get a point deducted. Brown dominates the round though. 28-28

Round 4: Brown lands another low blow and the referee decides to stop the fight!

Tommy Campbell DQ 4 Joe Brown

Just as he looked like he was loosing control, Brown decided to give the fight to Campbell who improves to 19-1 with 11 KOs. Joe Brown drops to 21-2 with 13 KOs after that silly, silly move. Campbell is now #3, Brown is #12.

Undercard

FW: Percy Bassett 13-0 (6) TKO 3 Felino Sarmiento 11-10-2 (2)
Bassett scored a knockdown and hammered Sarmiento when his corner threw in the towel. Bassett remains #9.

LW: Orlando Zulueta 16-0 (1) UD 8 Millard Morgan 7-3-3 (1)
Zulueta was unimpressive, but managed a clear decision as he improves to #6.

BW: Manuel Armenteros 15-0 (8) MD 8 Guido Ferracin 12-2-2
Armenteros looked very good, though the fight was boring, and won all but one round. One judge saw it as a draw for some reason, but it was a clear win for the bantamweight #3.

MW: Artie Towne 22-1-1 (9) UD 8 Ryan Kuhn 9-9-2 (3)
Towne scored a knockdown and won a wide decision as he improves to #2.

Live

HW: Nino Valdes 19-1 (12) vs Gordon Robertson 6-3-1 (3) II
8 rounds of heavyweight boxing, live from Cincinnati, USA.

Valdes finally gets his rematch against the guy who shockingly knocked him out in the 1st round to hand him his first defeat. Very exciting fight by the looks of it.

Round 1: A furious Valdes comes out swinging and a big cross puts Robertson down! Robertson makes it up at the count of 8. Valdes struggles to find the hole for another punch, but when he does a big hook sends Gordon down again. He is counted out.

Nino Valdes KO 1 Gordon Robertson

That's what i call revenge! Bigtime payback as cuban Nino Valdes settles the score with a spectacular 1st round knockout.

Nino Valdes improves to 20-1 with 13 knockouts and is now ranked #8.

Live main event

WW: George Costner 25-0-1 (18) vs Theron Wells 12-5-6 (3)
10 rounds of welterweight boxing, live from Cincinnati, USA.

The #2 in the strongest division in the boxing world right now takes on Theron Wells and should get a simple win.

Round 1: After some clinching, Costner gets in a couple of quick shots inside. Then a solid uppercut that rocks Wells. 10-9 George Costner

Round 2: Wells lands a bit more, but Costner lands much bigger and stuns Theron a couple of times. 20-18 George Costner

Round 3: Costners fast, crisp punching is doing the work here. 30-27 George Costner

Round 4: Costner is dishing out a beating here, but so far, Wells is taking it and moving forward. 40-36

Round 5: Not too much action as Costner is gaining full control. 50-45 George Costner

Round 6: Costner lands a big uppercut that sees Wells drop to the canvas. Wells makes it up, only to get teed of on for the rest of round. 60-53 George Costner

Round 7: Another dominant round for "Sugar". 70-62 George Costner

Round 8: Costners jab and his combinations are scoring at will, while Wells seems confused and he has no answer to the beating he is taken. 80-71 George Costner

Round 9: After some more dominance, Wells finally gets a big shot in, and he goes in to follow, and is suddenly caught with a short hook that has him landing face first to the canvas. Wells fights and gets up again. Wells is out of it, and Costner lands at will. The fight is rightly stopped.
