Replay: 1940/45 - ?
Replay starting in 1940/45 New computer, new universe. I had pretty good succes with my heavyweights universe that ended 6 months or so ago, so i decided to do the same thing, only involving all the weightclasses and starting 20 years earlier because i did not wanna start at the exact same point in time, i did not want to go back to where are all the fighters are just names to me, and i just couldnt start a universe with all the weightclasses and leave out the great Sugar Ray Robinson, Willie Pep or Rocky Marciano. I started by bringing in all fighters debuting from 1940 to 1945 and then a massive number of zero's to pad the records as i like to have lots of undefeateds. Nothing greater than a battle of undefeated prospects to burst a young fighter onto the world scene. The coverage starts in January, 1949, with Willie Pep so far being the most impressive guy p4p, although i am yet to bring in the first world championship fights. This will happen in the beginning of 1950, with 8 man tourneys in all divisions. I have the fighters split in four groups: Beginning (1116 fighters): All fighters at Beginning career stage, all Pre-Prime or End fighters with a negative record and all Prime or Post-Prime fighters ranked in the bottom 20 %. This group is massively overpopulated at this point due to a minimum of fighters having made it to Prime. These guys fight 6 round-fights. Club (797 fighters): All at Pre-Prime or End with a positive record and those who are not in the best 40 % or the worst 20 % of the rankings. Club fighters compete in 8 rounders. Main (39 fighters): The top 40 % of the rankings, required that they have either moved to Prime or have fought at least 25 bouts. 10 round-fights only. World Class (none yet): Handpicked by me, all top 5 fighters, most top 10 fighters and then the superstars. I pick fights for these guys. 10 or 12 rounders. I will auto-schedule fights for each group and then run through to pick out the fights i wanna put on the fight cards for that month. This is done for Club and Main. There will be some movement from one weight-class to another when it seems logical. If one is available i will use the rating in the database, if not i will use the weight class change thing someone made in these forums. There will be a quick run through of the weightclasses and then the action will start with fight cards for January, 1949.

FLY: Taffy Hancock 14-0 (9) UD 8 Joe Bruce 7-7-2 (1) Hancock did enough, outslugging Bruce to a close decision scored 78-75 twice and 77-76. LW: Freddie Dawson 16-0 (1) UD 8 Mario Villegas 4-4-1 (1) Dawson outboxed Villegas and cruised to the scores 79-73 twice and 80-72. WW: Ray Robinson 21-0 (17) KO 3 Stephen Birling 8-8-1 (1) The young american was as impressive as he has been in all his fights, battering Birling throughout, and when he got his man down, there were no doubt it was all over. WW: Frankie Fernandez 23-1 (11) UD 10 Theron Wells 11-5-6 (3) The fast and versatile Hawaiian did very, very well, although he was unable to become the first man to score a KO against Wells. WW: Kid Gavilan 14-0-1 (1) UD 8 Kanitzar Bury 5-6-1 (1) Cuban technician Kid Gavilan outboxed Kanitzar, and had no trouble landing a shoutout. Gavilan is now ranked #8 in the welterweight division. BW: Luis Galvani 21-0 (11) UD 8 Bryant Bradley 8-8 (1) Impressive display from another cuban as Galvani kept darting in and out and won 7 rounds to 1 and remains on top of the bantamweight division. HW: Bob Satterfield 16-3 (15) KO 2 Frank Buford 5-3 The popular knockout artist scored another quick win and moves to #12 among the heavyweights. LHW: Bob Murphy 22-0-1 (18) KO 6 Billy Fox 14-6 (10) Pretty stern test for Murphy on paper and in reality as he got a shock in round 2 where he was pounded, but survived and came back stronger to knock Fox out in the 6th. Murphy stays #2 in the Light Heavyweight division.

Saturday, January 22nd 1949
WW: Johnny Bratton 14-0 (7) KO 8 Dane Wrightson 10-9 (4) Bratton fought a fantastic fight, knocked Wrightson down in the 5th, twice in the 6th and then twice in the 8th before the 3rd knockdown of the round made it the full count. Bratton moves to #7 in the Welterweight divsion. HW: Bob Dunlap 11-0 (4) UD 8 Jimmy Carollo 9-6-4 (4) Dunlap was not too impressive, but at the same time, his win was never in any trouble. He scored a knockdown in the 2nd and just cruised in a dull fight to a wide decision. Dunlap moves to #5 in the heavyweight rankings. WW: Tommy Bell 22-0 (14) KO 2 Eric Page 7-8-5 (2) Another great showing from Bell who looks like one of the guys to look out for in the welterweight division as he overtakes Ray Robinson and moves to #3. MW: Randy Turpin 21-0 (16) TKO 3 Bill Schultz 6-4-1 (1) The brit remains on top of the middleweight division by handing out a beating to Schultz through three rounds, before the fight was rightfully ended.

FW: Ray Famechon 15-0-2 (5) TKO 5 Jean Sneyers 5-5 (1) Famechon fought well. He sent Sneyers to the floor in the 4th, and then dominated the 5th. The stoppage was premature, but still a good display as the frenchmen remains #4 in the Featherweight division. MW: Paddy Young 17-1 (8) KO 3 Bill Schultz 6-5-1 (1) Young had it his way, easily won rounds 1 and 2 and a right hook ended the fight in the 3rd. Paddy moves to #5 in the middleweight division. FW: Tommy Collins 17-0 (15) KO 5 Ted Creswell 7-8-1 The hard punching Collins scored knockdowns in rounds 2 and 3 and ended the fight in round 5. Tommy is still #3 among the featherweights. LHW: Bob Foxworth 13-0 (11) KO 4 Michael Cash 10-12-3 (2) After having a lot of trouble in the opening rounds, Foxworth turned it on, and scored three knockdowns in the 4th, the final one for the full ten count. Foxworth is still ranked #7.

Thanks for the comments
![]() Saturday, February 19th, 1949 MW: Joey Giardello 6-0 UD 8 Takaaki Hara This young, fast middleweight did most things right and scored a wide decision victory. LW: Orlando Zulueta 13-0 (1) UD 8 Mark Stone 12-8 (8) A stylistically tough fight for the cuban against someone who punches harder than himselves. His chin is a big weakness, though, and Zulueta scored a KD in the 5th and in general did very well, was never hurt, and only lost one round. Zulueta moves to #9 in the lightweight division. BW: Van Thomas 9-6-4 (2) TKO 8 (inj) Luis Romero 21-2 (13) Shocker! Romero looked in control of proceedings, and had won all rounds, even though he got a point detucted in the 3rd for a headbutt. Only until the 5th though, where he hurt his rib badly. He fought his best but had to give up in the 8th and final round. Romero moves from #2 to #14 in the bantamweight division. HW: Keene Simmons 12-6-2 (6) KO 7 Bob Dunlap 11-1 (4) Another shock! Dunlap was very unimpressive all the way through and both fighters were hurt in a surprisingly even fight. In a dull 7th, one hard cross shut the lights for Dunlap, who moves from #5 to #17 in the heavyweight rankings. LW: Danny Webb 14-5-2 (6) KO 3 Henry Davis 20-1 (3) What is going on here? Yet another massive upset to a fight that looked like a mismatch the other way around, going in. After two feeling out rounds, Webb needed one opening to land a big combination that Davis just couldn't recover from. One of the brightest young talents loses his undefeated record and moves from #2 to #14 in the ranks. WW: Frankie Fernandez 24-1 (12) TKO 8 (cuts) James Harrington 10-10-5 (2) Fernandez did everything right, battering Harrington from the start and swelling up his eye all the way through until he was blinded by it and the referee stepped in to end the fight. Fernandez is still #2 in the welterweight division.

WW: Luther Rawlings 14-0 (2) UD 8 Jonathon Davidson 9-5-2 Rawlings cruised to a shutout on two of three cards as he moves to #12 in the strong welterweight division. FLY: Yoshio Shirai 16-1 (5) KO 4 Étienne Lopez 10-9-3 (3) The flyweight number #1 did everything right to score three knockdowns in the 4th round, the final one for the full count. HW: Bob Satterfield 17-3 (16) TKO 6 Reg Andrews 11-10-3 (4) This fight started as expected with Satterfield scoring KD's in the 1st and 3rd rounds, but showed his vulnerability when he was knocked down himself in the 4th. He recovered and ended the fight with big shots in bunches forcing the referee stop the fight. Satterfield is still #11 in the heavyweight ranks. LHW: Bob Murphy 23-0-1 (19) KO 2 Ben Anthony 11-13-3 (2) A clear mismatch as Murphy scored 4 knockdowns and knocked out Anthony in an easy win. Murphy overtakes Tommy Yarosz for the #1 spot in the light-heavyweight division.

Philadelphia Arena, Philadelphia, PA, USA MW: Joey Giardello 7-0 UD 8 Pedro Rivera 9-8 Another simple win for the young middleweight, fighting in his hometown. MW: Artie Towne 20-1-1 (8) KO 1 Kurt Tandy 11-8-2 (1) Stunningly quick victory and what looked like a good test for Artie Towne, who moves up the #3 in the middleweight division. BW: Luis Galvani 22-0 (12) KO 2 Stan DeBurge 8-8-5 (2) Another very quick and easy victory. The cuban Luis Galvani sticks to his #1 slot in the bantamweight ranks. HW: Rocky Marciano 10-0 (9) KO 1 Tokimune Maekawa 10-9-1 (6) This young hard-hitter needed just one punch to lay out Maekawa. Marciano joins the rankings at an impressive #6. WW: Tommy Bell 23-0 (14) UD 8 Jean-Jacques Poirot 10-9-3 (2) Bell won all but one round in an easy win, although he never managed to send Poirot to the canvas or hurt him badly. Bell overtakes Fernandez for the #2 position in the welterweight rankings. Main Event LHW: Tommy Yarosz 23-1 (5) TKO 7 Declan Pybus 11-11-5 (2) Great perfomance from Yarosz who pounded Pybus from the get-go and never took breaks. Pybus did well to last until the 7th. Yarosz regains the #1 position.

Harringay Arena, London, England FW: Ray Famechon 16-0-2 (5) UD 8 Aaron Joshua 12-3 (1) Very tough fight for the frenchman who just escpaped with a decision due to a knockdown in the 5th that probably won him the fight. Famechon is still #4. HW: Jack Gardner 6-0 (3) UD 8 Joe Muscato 16-6 (7) Big step-up handled impressively by Gardner. After four even rounds, Gardner took control, scoring two knockdowns in round 6 and one in round 7 to secure a very nice victory, against Muscato who was #15 going into the fight. MW: Dave Sands 18-1 (10) UD 8 Negash Ogunkeye 11-10-2 (3) Sands had a bit of trouble in the first couple of rounds, but had no problem taking control and winning the fight, scoring a knockdown on the way to a near shutout decision. Sands moves up to #5. FLY: Maurice Sandeyron 12-4-2 UD 8 Taffy Hancock 14-1 (9) Hancocks first big step-up, and he was in over his head. Sandeyron fought a very clever fight, staying on the outside, scoring with his jab and the occasional combination. Sandeyron who was #7 going into the fight, moves up to #5, while Hancock drops from #3 to #6. HW: Bruce Woodcock 18-1 (15) UD 8 Wilde Piet 10-7 (8) Woodcock struggled and was hurt badly in the 3rd, but survived and did most things right later on, scoring a KD in the 7th en route to a clear decision. Woodcock is still #3 behind Muscato and fellow brit Don Cockell who is about step into the ring. Main Event HW: Don Cockell 18-0-1 (9) TKO 1 Paul Ball 5-6-1 (4) Cockell scored a quick knockdown and then went in for the kill, and the referee decided to award the TKO win for Cockell. The brit remains at #2.

Connecticut Convention Center, CT, USA MW: Jimmy Beau 12-0 (3) SD 8 Harold Green 13-4-1 (7) Beau was more accurate, Green was more busy in a very close fight. Beau deserved the win though, as he was more effective, especially with his jab. Beau remains #14. LW: Lauro Salas 11-5-2 (2) TKO 8 (cuts) Harold Jones 16-2 (1) A very close fight all the way through, that probably would have been a draw or a split decision either way had it gone the distance, ended with a minute left as a cut, that had undoudebtly been a factor in the fight, went from bad to worse and the doctor decided the fight could not continue. Jones, who was #6 going in, moved all the way down to #21, while Salas is now #20. LW: Maxie Docusen 18-0 (2) UD 8 Dom Amoroso 10-5-1 (2) Docusen used all the tricks in the book, cutting Amoroso with an intentional headbutt in the first, and then using his shoulder ilegally a number of times. He had no trouble securing a near shutout win though. Docusen overtakes Freddie Dawson for the #2 slot in the lightweight division. MW: Carl Olson 20-1 (12) UD 8 Jose Garcia 8-12-3 (2) Olson overpowered and dominated Garcia to a shutout decision victory, and is still ranked #2 among the middleweights. HW: Phil Muscato 19-0-1 (9) TKO 6 Javier Juarez 7-11-5 (2) Muscato scored a KD in the 1st round, but then the fight just died out. Muscato won all rounds, but never entertained until the 6th where he send Juarez to the floor, and when the mexican got up, he was unstable and the fight was ended. Muscato is still #1. Main Event FW: Willie Pep 24-0 (15) UD 10 Drake Whannell 11-9-4 Willie Pep remains on top of the featherweight division in his first 10-rounder as he dominated all rounds but one, and even scored a knockdown in the 1st round.

End of March, random info
I've decided to postpone the championship fights to the end of 1950 rather than the beginning, so there won't be guys in the tourneys with 12-18 pro fights. Also, the tourneys will be four-man eliminations, rather than eight. P4P top 10 at this point: 1. Willie Pep, FW, 24-0 (15) 2. George Costner, WW, 24-0-1 (13) 3. Frankie Fernandez, WW, 25-1 (13) 4. Luis Galvani, BW, 22-0 (12) 5. Randy Turpin, MW, 21-0 (16) 6. Tommy Bell, WW, 23-0 (14) 7. Tommy Yarosz, LHW, 23-1 (5) 8. Ray Robinson, WW, 21-0 (17) 9. Bob Murphy, LHW, 23-0-1 (19) 10. Sandy Saddler, FW, 18-0 (16) Number of fighters in groups: Beginning: 1071 Club: 814 Main: 67 World Class: 0

In April we have a lot of exciting action, including the all new concept Friday Night Fights, a four fight all-bantamweights card, and a lot of great fighters such as p4p #1 Willie Pep, the middleweight #1 Randy Turpin, heavyweight #1 Phil Muscato and hardhitting featherweight Sandy Saddler.

London Arena, London, England BW: Rush Dalma 13-2-3 (2) UD 8 Bryan Simpson 15-2 (8) Simpson looked to use this fight to take a big step towards being a part of the 1950 world championship tournament, but instead, he was outboxed completely for a wide decision in favor of Rush Dalma who makes it to #7 in the ranks, while Simpson drops to #8. MW: Randy Turpin 22-0 (17) KO 1 Udo Weismuller 9-7-2 (1) The middleweight #1 is looking better and better for each fight and Weismuller had no business in the ring with Turpins speed and power.

BW: Luis Romero 22-2-1 (14) TKO 5 Jon Atkins 11-11-3 (4) The popular spaniard recovers from his shocking loss and pounds Atkins for 5 rounds before the referee decided he had seen enough. Romero makes it to #14. Main Event BW: Luis Galvani 23-0 (12) UD 10 Malaki Salah 9-9-6 (1) The #1 bantamweight did everything right boxing wise, but got a stupid point detuction in what would have been a shutout. Still, another impressive perfomance from the cuban who seems like the favorite to be the first world champion in bantamweight.
