j-bels Boxing Universe

This is the introduction to my universe, which is full of shady promotional teams and mostly every fighter, from every era. I mostly play on the LW,JWW,WW,SMW,CW,and HW so my P4P ratings might show that.

P4P TOP 10 LIST:

1.
Roy Jones Junior 19-0 (12 KO's):
Roy having just come off of his career defining win in the superfight against Henry Armstrong at 162 Catchweight, has shown why he is the number one P4P in the world. He currently has just defeated Eric Crumble and there are rumors of him stepping up in weight class to Light Heavyweight or Crusierweight

2.
Henry Armstrong: 25-7-1 (21 KO's): Armstrong is coming off of two consecutive losses, if you are wondering why is he still our number 2 P4P, it is only due to the nature of his losses, one came by DQ at Benny Paret and the other came from current P4P king roy Jones Junior who is currently on a rampage at Super Middleweight. Currently rumors are going about Armstrong going down to Lightweight to fight current knockout sensation Edwin Valero

3.
Muhammad Ali: 16-1 (10 KO's)
Ali has been lighting the HW division with his sarcastic wit and humorous trash talk; however there is nothing humorous about what he does to his opponents in the ring. Ask Clubber Lang who, flash kayoed Ali; when Ali rose he pummeled Clubber Lang into quitting. That is why the fans love him. A huge showdown is in the works between Ali and the other trash talking slick boxer Jack Johnson

4.
Juan Carlos Gomez: 25-6-5 (11 KO's)
Carlos the emerging star from the 32 man Crusierweight Tournament, has been on a roll lately. He is rumored, to move up in HW after decisioning Dewey Cooper.

5.
Jack Johnson: 14-1 (6 KO's): Johnson who has been inactive for a year, is still our number 5 P4P boxer. He is currently in negoiations with Muhammad Ali. Johnson already showing his moxy, is calling Muhammad Ali, "Cassius Clay."

Top 10 P4P List Cont.

6.
Wilfred Benitez: 18-2 (7 KO's)
After his kayo victory over the helpless and outclassed Arthur Cruz, Wilfred is prepping up for a fight that no one wants to see, a fight between him and prospect Nicolino Looche (3-0)

7.
Marco Huck: 22-13-6 (10 KO's)
Huck is coming from his legendary 4 fight series with fellow European Krzysztof Wlodarczyk where two fights ended in a 15 round draw. He's still in the same spot, after kayoing Wlodarcyzk in the rubber match in the 13th round. On deck for Huck is a showdown with Steve Cunnigham.

8.
Jack Dempsey: 16-1 (11 KO's)
Dempsey is currently on a winning streak after being kayoed by the ruthless Clubber Lang, there was hiccups on the road to glory (a dubious 15 round TKO victory against Homer Simpson, which ended in cuts) but his win over fringe contender but never a champion Monte Barrett has solidfied Dempsey into the elite level. Rumor has it that he's bargining with Top Dawg promotions head Joshua Belmonte for a fight with his best prospect a young man named George Foreman.

9.
Mike Tyson: 22-4 (20 KO's)
Tyson has racked up a 6 fight kayo streak after being starched in 3 rounds by Clubber Lang. Tyson has been calling out Jack Dempsey for a fight, but Dempsey has balked at working with Don King citing, King's insistance of Dempsey signing a contract with King Promotions.

10.
James "Clubber" Lang: 42-13-1 (39 KO's)
Lang has dropped out of the top 5, with his performance against Apollo Creed. Creed dominated Lang 95% throughtout the fight, but Lang showed courage and battered Creed for 1 round, reminding us of the Lang of old. Hopefully after this match, the aging Lang (he's 40 as of press time) retires. Although there is word he will fight James Braddock or Rocky Balboa in Australia soon.

Jack Johnson issues ultimatium to "Cassius Clay"
by Dan Rafael January 2, 2027

(Johnson at home with his wife)

Jack Johnson one of the boxing industries best boxers in the world today, has told boxing promoter Bob Arum of his intentions. "Tell that cowardly b**ch Cassius to stop hiding behind that uncle tom routine and tell him to sign the deal to make the fight. He's the only one stalling the fight from happening. I heard he in some boxing circles that he claims I use steroids. If that is so, I am willing to take a test in front of Mr.Clay, and I'm also willing to piss in Clay's mouth and ask him if he tastes any HGH. Futhermore, if Clay wants to continue ducking me, I will move on to fight Mike Tyson another fight the world wants to see."

Bob Arum, Ali's promoter at Top Rank had this to say. "Johnson's insinuating of accusations of Ali sounds like an excuse to back out of the fight. I've spoken to Muhammad numerous times he has told me how bad he wants this fight, I'm going to ensure the fight fans that the fight is made."

Muhammad Ali fires back
by Dan Rafael January 7,2027

Jack Johnson's statements made 3 days ago has now brought The Ring Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali go into a fury of words. " Jack Johnson claims I am ducking!? He thinks I'm the one whose holding the fight!? Who was the one denied a match between us two years ago Jack? Who was the one who told newsreporters he too good and too pretty? You were! My prediction for the fight, by the time the round turns nine, Johnson's ass is mine!! You tell Don I said that too!!!

Ali and Johnson are engaging in a verbal sparring of words which brings more fan excitement for this dream fight as big as it was before. Former HW Champion and also the man who has faced both James Lang had this to say "Both Jack and Ali are magnificent boxers, Ali has deceptive punching power and he caught me with a lot of good shots, Johnson in my view is too lazy in-ring, when he has control he doesn't go to finish it, unlike Ali who is like a shark who smells blood."

RING MAGAZINE AWARDS:

Fighter of the year:

Roy Jones Junior: Yall must forgot! About the great year Roy has had, with his devestating kayo of Henry Armstrong (who rumor has it had trouble making the 162 catchweight) and racking up other kayo victories over fring contenders. We had to select "Captain Hook" as our fighter of the year.

Runners-up:

Jack Dempsey: Dempsey has been on a tear lately and a fight between him and Tyson would give some juice to a somewhat stale HW divison.

Edwin Valero: Although his competition is to be desired 18 straight kayos in a row is no easy feat.

Homer Simpson: His two upset victories over Monte Barrett and Ray Mercer had him locked in as a favorite to be FOTY, however his two back to back losses knocked Homer back into journeymandom.

Comeback of the year:
Homer Simpson: His year began off badly, as he fired longtime trainer and father Abraham Simpson. He then became a punching bag for Jack Dempsey for 15 rounds, at times stunning Dempsey. Then Homer began terminating each of the contenders for Muhammad Ali's crown in Ray Mercer and Monte Barrett fights in which Simpson was an underdog in. All of his newfound glory should be attributed by his new secretative trainer.

Runners-up:
N/A

Upset of the year: Homer Simpson KO 10 Ray Mercer
One of the biggest shockers of the year, where the hapless man from Springfield became King for a day after KOing Ray Mercer. This match which only happened due to the original opponent, a Philly prospect named Joe Frazier dropped out because of his jaw not fully healing yet from his drubbing at the hands of James Lang. To make matters worse, the replacement Union Cane dropped out after he ironically; got hit over the head with a glass cane during an altercation last Feburary. So idealistically Mercer made this a tune-up fight. This let Homer Simpson who boosted an appalling 26-28-1 (5 KO's) record enter the picture and many had Mercer up by 5-1 odds. On fight night however it was apparant who came to win. Simpson came out aggressive and began to pressure the stronger Mercer. Mercer almost floored Simpson in round 5 with a left hook that would've decapitated a statue. Simpson, did not get rattled and took the fight back under control en route to a 10th round kayo.

Runner-ups:
Homer Simpson UD Monte Barrett: Simpson came into a fight as the underdog and proceeded to UD the number 2 HW contender in the world.

Keegan Jacobs KO 12 Emeka Judah: In a minor upset, Keegan Jacobs scores a KO over Judah in a wild fight.

KO of the year:
Lamon Brewster flattens Homer Simpson: In a year were kayos were sparce, Lamon Brewster improved his HW standing by turning journeyman contender Homer Simpson into cookie dough. The fight was a brutally paced and evenly fought fight for the first 8 rounds until round 9 where Brewster found his range and flattened Simpson with a 5 punch combo that echoed throughout the arena.

Fight of the Year:

Marco Huck D 15 Krzysztof Wlodarczyk III and IV: The only time in my life since losing my virginity, have I sat through pure bliss. These two European fighters were tailor made for one another and with that it set off a vicious brawl between the two. Each with a stake in the Crusierweight rankings. They traded vicious shots in both fights making Vasquez vs Marquez look like a preschool grappling match. In both instances in both fights With Wlodarczyk down on the cards, he managed to up the pressure on Huck and he managed to flash KO Huck a couple of times during the last rounds in both fights. Even their rubber match, was excellent with Huck kayoing the shopworn Krzystof.

Runners Up:
Lamon Brewster KO 10 Homer Simpson: Homer Simpson and exciting was an oxymoron a mere 3 years ago. It was an exciting fast paced, hard hitting fight that saw both men not give an inch as they traded shots towards each others livers. Brewster prevailed in the highly competitive bout.

Ray Austin KO 5 Union Cane: Another scrap between these two you know the rest.

Roy Jones KO 14 Henry Armstrong: A superfight that lived up to the hype? You don't say?! The bout between these two was an all action war as Armstrong foolishly pressed the action against a much stronger Jones. Armstrong's "never-die" attitude made the fight interesting as Armstrong would land flush shots on Roy and all Roy would do is dance.

Ali vs Johnson almost a done deal says Top Dawg honcho
by Dan Rafael January 16, 2010

Two of boxing's most enigmatic personalities are almost close to clashing soon according to Top Dawg head honcho Joshua Belmonte. "Everything has been signed, now they need to dot the I's and cross the T's." Johnson's reps have denied such negoiations took place. Johnson's advisor Leonard Ellerbe denied ever talking to Belmonte. "That fool has his head up in the clouds, I deny ever speaking to that fool about a fight with Muhammad. He needs to stop running his mouth about fictious negoiations taking place." Jack Johnson however has said that he has seen a contract, however if he wants to sign is all hearsay.

The fight which generated interest after Ali kayoed Rocky Balboa and Ali claimed that he kayoed all the cornflake white bums and he wants to fight the baddest brother in the land Jack Johnson. Johnson who was in attendance, stated to Ali "If you want to fight make the contract and I'll sign it!" The relationship between both sides began to sour when Johnson began to call the Muhammad Ali "Cassius Clay". Infuriating Ali, there are rumors that Ali's camp has been whispering to the Texas State Athletic Commission that Jack Johnson has been using steroids.

Ali and Johnson have refuted those claims however. Johnson has said if Ali "chicken sh**s the contract and runs away, I'll fight Audley Harrison in a big fight in England!" Ali has counter backed saying "If Johnson wants to fight the fraud then I will fight the Count of Monte Fisto Apollo Creed!"

Johnson and Ali had to be seperated when they met for a press junket for Ali vs Balboa 24/7 which kicked off the feud. Johnson has also been recently in a bit of controversey as he called Cassius Clay's manhood into question claiming he spent more time hanging out with 50 Cent than training. Ali sent me a message after hearing that comment "He's calling me a homo!? I got two words for Flap Jack "Leonard Ellerbe!"

UPDATE: The fight has been indeed signed and it will take place in Cowboys Stadium on February 20,2010. The undercard will feature Jack Dempsey taking on Ray Mercer and Roy Jones defending his IBO title against mandatory Rod Carr

QUICK HITS:
by Dan Rafael January 16,2027
  • Muhammad Ali vs Jack Johnson will have a HBO 24/7 leading up to there February showdown. Sources close to me have hinted that the show's episodes might be extended to 5 episodes.
  • Glen Johnson who has recently moved up to Cruiserweight, has agreed to fight Rydell Booker who is coming off of a disatrous tournament outing.
  • Rock Allen is currently in talks with the camp of Micky Ward, to help Ward for his upcoming match with Miguel Cotto, the bout which will be featured on HBO will be televised from Puerto Rico. Allen served as a sparring partner for Cotto for his last 2 fights.
  • Rising WW prospect Alfonso Gomez has begun calling out Henry Armstrong. Word to the wise: be carefule for what you wish for. Speaking of Armstrong I heard from Body Head Bangerz Promotion head Roy Jones Junior, that Armstrong is headed back to the LW division against an unknown opponent.
  • Edwin Valero is slated to fight on the undercard of Ali vs Johnson against another no-hoper named Buhlan Battling. And you wonder why they accuse boxing of building up fighters.
  • Rising superstar Roberto Duran has recently called out Edwin Valero and said some words in Spanish that is too vulgar to read and type.
  • Homer Simpson will be back on Friday Night Fights against Kevin "Kingpin" Johnson, the date has not been set but the fight has. This fight will put some butts in their seats (By the way that was sarcasm) Also on that same card David Tua battles Michael Acey and Meldrick Taylor fights Freddie Pendelton.
  • SMW Prospect Andre Ward is set to motion capture for the new EA Sports boxing game. Kudos to you Andre!
  • DVD Pick of the Week: The match was violent and grueling which is why I have it on my DVD player 24/7, that is the quadrilogy of Tyson vs Lang a HW battle where punches were not pulled and both men suffered damage that cannot be recovered from. In their first fight alone, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' was covered in the blood of Lang during the post fight conferance after shaking hands with him. Tyson suffered a broken ear drum, a cracked rib, and a broken nose from his fights with Lang. Lang also had a broken jaw going into the second fight which is why I found it to be amazing he kayoed the Iron jawed Mike Tyson.

QUICK HITS:
by Dan Rafael January 22,2027
  • Word on the street is boring fighter turned brawler Homer Simpson is currently in talks with the camp of Lamon Brewster for a rematch of their 2026 FOTY canidate
  • Muhammad Ali's PR war with Jack Johnson has hit a new low, when Ali on a King Kong themed ride, sees the titular gorilla he begins to yell "Look everyone, it's Jack Johnson and his wife fighting!"
  • I've been hearing rumors that Jack Johnson might be summoned to court on a domestic disturbance charge endangering the fight of the century between him and Muhammad Ali
  • Henry Armstrong is currently sweating off 20 pounds of excess weight from his fight with Roy Jones Junior to go back to defend his LW title. Who the defense against is up in the air, but names being tossed around is Edwin Valero, rising American star Pernell Whitaker, African boxing superstar and on the cusp of P4P-ship Emeka Judah, and the current LW kingpin Keegan Jacobs
  • CW prospect Evander Holyfield plans on making his SHOBOX debut against one of the Ali's in the division
  • Micky Ward has dropped out of his fight with Miguel Cotto in Puerto Rico due to a hand injury, stepping in his place is fan favorite Arturo Gatti or Emanuel Augustus
  • Ricardo Mayorga has been said to have called out Henry Armstrong again, Ricardo is currently prepping for a defense against Alfonso Gomez (shows how far promoter Joshua Belmonte has pull) with the winner most likely challenging Henry Armstrong or rising superstars in the WW division Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao
  • Mike Tyson's next fight is scheduled two weeks from now against 6th ranked HW Shannon Briggs, I have no idea what's a bigger travesty. Mike not being ranked or this fight taking place
  • DVD Pick of the week: It was a brutal take no prisoners bout from two years ago, which saw Victor Cayo scraping by a game Micky Ward in a bout that was back and forth in momentum. The rematch a year later wasn't as good but Ward did get redemption by knocking out the young Puerto Rican fighter in Cayo.

Lamon Brewster and Homer Simpson agree to rematch

Brewster after the first grueling match with Simpson

Simpson before the 7th round in the first Brewster fight.

Simpson and Brewster have agreed to terms for a rematch. Both fighters got past their fights and are now getting ready to square off for the rematch of the year on HBO's "World Championship Boxing." Simpson is quoted as saying "I cannot wait for the opportunity to show the world I can still shock it and have suprises waiting in store. Ummmmm store ahhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Brewster: "Homer Simpson and I put on a helluva of a fight the last time we were in the ring together. Now the whole world gets to see us on a big stage, I'm happy that HBO has picked up the fight. It'll be a good fight but I know I'll win, after I beat Homer look for me to challenge Ray Mercer or Jack Dempsey."

On the undercard of the event Henry Armstrong goes back to LW to take on the tough Irish boxer Packey Mcfarland. Also on the undercard HW prospect John L. Sullivan faces a local competitor as does LW KO machine Edwin Valero.

I like this universe and it's creativity, a lot! Also like the Dan Rafael 'quick hits'. Could you give us some insight on your initial universe set up? Are all of your fighters @ prime rating? Do you use any auto aging? How do you set up your fights? Thanks, and I will be following!
