May be , but Fenech need to win another fight in order to be selectable for a Title Clash.

The fight was really strange becouse the first big punch of the fight caused the cut an the finish of the fight.

Lopez retained his title on a blockbuster fight!

1993-08-28
Azteca, Mexico DF, Mexico

WBO FEATHRWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT
Ricardo Lopez - Record: 26-0-0 (17) WTKO11 Julio Cesar Chavez - Record: 25-2-0 (23)
On a blockbuster fight Ricardo Lopez defended his WBO Title for the second time and won the biggest fight of his career against Julio Cesar Chavez. For “J.C.” it was the second time that he failed on a title clash after being defeated by Salvador Sanchez in one of the best clashes in this universe.
Lopez started the fight on big form winning the first three rounds, he also shook Chavez on the second and had “J.C” in trouble on the third when he landed a big hook. Chavez appeared in the fight on the fourth round winning the stanza and being favoured by a point taken away from Lopez for head-butting. The fifth round was even and with a lot of action until the last thirty seconds when Lopez landed some good blows to take the round. On the sixth Lopez hurt Chavez with a hook , and then dropped him with a strong cross. Chavez got up at one and the bell saved him.Chavez had a great reaction winning rounds seventh and eight. The ninth round was a back and forth one but Lopez edged it with a great straight right near the end of the round. Lopez won the ten round on a big form punishing a tiring Chavez,Lopez also cut Chavez on his left eyelid. On the eleventh round Lopez dropped Chavez with a big cross. Chavez got up at three but only to received more punishment that reopened the cut and forced the referee to stop the action. Mysteriously two of the judges had Chavez in front on his scorecards at the time of the stoppage (95-92 (x2)). The other had Lopez winning 96-91. My scorecard at this time was 96-92 for Lopez.

The argentine is now in a three winless streak. Parra dropped Barrios for good two minutes into the fight with a big counterpunch. For Parra is the best victory of his career.

Eusebio Pedroza - Record: 17-1-0 (7) WTKO7 Juanito Rubillar - Record: 17-3-2 (3)
Eusebio Pedroza scored an easy TKO victory with and eye-catching performance against an overmatched Juanito Rubilar. Pedroza won the first five rounds of the fight and after an even sixth, Perdroza dropped Rubilar on the seventh with a straight right. Rubilar got up at nine but only to receive more punishment until the referee stopped the fight.

Rico Ramos - Record: 14-11-3 (2) WMD10 Ruben Condori - Record: 13-10-5 (1)
Rico Ramos mounted a big rally on the final five rounds to score a majority decision win against Ruben Condori. The argentine had the control of the fight on the first half and also dropped Ramos on the fifth round with a combination to the head and the body. But Ramos won all the rounds from six to nine and the referee took a point from Condori for rubbit punch on the ninth . Finallly Condori won an action less even last round. Soto destroyed Campbell and looked for a third title chance!

1993-08-31
Estadio Saltillo, Saltillo, Mexico

Cesar Soto - Record: 24-3-0 (14) WKO1 Nate Campbell - Record: 22-6-1 (12)
It was expected to be a close contest between two candidates for a future title fight, but it only took one round to Cesar Soto to destroy Nate Campbell. Afer punished Campbell for more than two minutes Soto dropped him for good with a vicious uppercut. With this win Soto is in the way for a third attempt for a World Title.

Kid Chocolate - Record: 17-2-0 (3) WUD10 Claudio Martinet - Record: 14-6-0 (3)
It was the first fight for Kid Chocolate after his loss against “The Prince” Hamed for the WBU World Title. Chocolate completely outboxed Martinet and he also dropped the argentine on rounds four and nine. The scorecards were 99-90 (x2) and 97-91.

Humberto Gonzales - Record: 19-2-1 (11) WUD10 Agapito Sanchez - Record: 18-3-0 (2)
Sanchez won the first round but then Gonzales took the drivers’ seat and won rounds from second to five, Sanchez mounted a small rally winning rounds six and seventh but it finished when Gonzales dropped him with a wicked hook on the eight round. Gonzales also dropped Sanchez again on the ninth round this time with a devastating cross and he also won an actionless last round. The scorecards were 97-91 (x3) for Gonzales.

Scott Harrison - Record: 20-4-1 (6) DRAW10 Brahim Asloum - Record: 19-7-1
Asloum won the first three rounds, but Harrison rallied and evened the fight winning the following three rounds. Asloum again took a step forward winning rounds seventh and eight but Harrison took the last two rounds to put the result into guess. At least three of the rounds of this fight could be scored to either boxer so the fight was very difficult to rate and a draw is not a bad ruling.
The scorecards were 96-95 for harrison 97-93 for Asloum and 95-95.

Big wins for Lyle and Hide!

1993-09-06
Arena Gardens, Detroit, MI, United States

Ron Lyle - Record: 20-6-1 (14) WUD10 Tony Thompson - Record: 20-4-2 (8)
Ron Lyle is a strange fighter he could loss a fight being a heavy favourite or he could pulled an upset against high opposition rivals, but he allways gave a good show.
This time he scored a big victory against Tony Thompson.

Difficult win for Buchanan against Cortes.

1993-09-20
The Stadium, Liverpool, United Kingdom

Ken Buchanan - Record: 24-5-0 (4) WUD10 Alberto Cortes - Record: 17-7-2
Former title contender Ken Buchanan escaped with a difficult unanimous decision win against argentine Alberto Cortes. The argentine won the first round, but Buchanan seemed to put the things in their place winning the following three rounds. But Cortes used his boxing skills and smoother boxing to mount a rally and won the following four rounds. After seven rounds Cortes was winning the fight but he got tired and allowed Buchanan to take a competitive eight round. On the ninth round Cortes looked spent and Buchanan won it easily. On the final round Buchanan dropped Cortes with a solid combination and after the argentine got up he tried and failed to finish the fight inside the distance. The scorecrds were 96-93(x2) and 95-94 for Buchanan.

Jose Antonio Rivera Record: 17-5-4 (5) WTKO6 Demetrius Hopkins Record: 10-9-2 (1)
