I think Neilson is in trouble.

The Cornjabbers may be in trouble as well if I did a poor job of setting my lineup and so far....it looks like I did.

Moment of the Match

So many moments of note in this one. Eddie Neilson knocking off John Henry Lewis to remain unbeaten, Quezada's upset of Sanders, Walcott starching Herbie Hide to cement Nebraska's first loss of the season. In the end though it was the wild brawl between Montgomery and Jacobsen that left the fans talking. Jacobsen had Montgomery down in each of the first 2 rounds, including a 9 count in round two. Montgomery finally touched the right button in round 3, dropped Jacobsen and then unleashed a two fisted barrage so horrific the fight was nearly stopped twice. Out of sheer desperation Jacobsen then rocked Montgomery and both men then exchanged bombs for the final 45 seconds as the crowd nearly blew the roof off of the arena. One of the most exciting fights of season, that in most sports pages will play second fiddle to the streak that ended, and the streak that continues.

Moment of the Match

In light of Bears Unstable setting a new single match scoring record, it is somewhat surprising that the moment of the match comes from Louisville's lone bright spot. Roman Greenberg, after getting absolutely pounded for 2 rounds decked Lloyd Marshall in 3rd, but Marshall sprung up at the count of 4. Knowing he had the fight in the bag, Marshall tried to grab and run, but Greenberg was relentless. Throwing wild haymakers, Greenberg finally tagged Marshall again with only 2 seconds left in the fight. The bell rang, but one can not be saved by the bell in the WTB and Marshall was counted out 8 seconds after the fight had concluded to complete a miracle comeback for Greenberg and provide the Louisville crowd with a moment to cheer.

Congrats on the win Ice! You hammered my boys badly. Well...........the Cornjabbers had to lose sometime. I just hope it doesn't happen often now.

Sanders was a let down...not that it would of made a difference in the match if he won. Eddie Neilson is still the suprise of my team. Don't know how long he can keep it up though.

I would say Eddie Neilson is the surprise of the league, if we had a pool on who the last unbeaten fighter would be and I drew his name I would have been pissed

Moment of the Match

Without a doubt Quinn Navare takes the honor in this one, not only upsetting the reigning Chilton Cup holder in his 5th defense, but ultimately providing the winning point as Hebron snaps a four match losing skid. Navare, with nothing to lose charged Walcott like a bull in round one and did enough to take the canto by keeping the Champ off balance. Walcott roared back and dominated the second round, battering Navare and finding his rhythm with pinpoint combinations. It appeared Walcott was on course to defend the title, but he inexplicably chose to dance the last round away, which was given to Navare for no other reason than he came forward. The new Champion downplayed his win after the match, deflecting the attention to his team's victory, while complimenting Walcott, who he referred to as "a great Champion who will be back for sure"

Moment of the Match

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but to whom and in the manner it happened was somewhat surprising. The legendary run of cult hero Eddie 'The Dollar Twenty Five Wonder' Neilson was brought to a screeching halt by Lorenzo Zanon. Zanon was the aggressor from the opening bell and though Neilson made the 2nd round close, there was no question who had won the fight as the final round ended. Neilson has made his name by starting fast, but this time he was not the quickest on the trigger as Zanon beat him to the punch throughout, bulling forward and mixing his attack between head and body nicely. Washington is now the leagues hottest team as they capture their 5th straight win, while league leader Nebraska loses their 2nd on the bounce.

Moment of the Match

Kevin McBride was outpunched in each round of his bout against Joe Kennedy and would have most certainly come out on the short end of 3-0 decision, which would have meant a 7-7 tie in the match. However, as he has done before, the Clones Colossus pulled out both the 2nd and 3rd rounds with knockdowns in the final 30 seconds of each round. In the second he caught Kennedy leading with his jaw and dropped him with a short right. Then, in the final round, after absorbing a beating for the first 2 minutes and 50 seconds, he dropped Kennedy again with just 9 ticks remaining. McBride's big punch heroics turned the sure tie into a comfortable win for the Unstable crew and gave the Punching Bags another hard luck defeat.

Moment of the Match

Trailing 6-5 going into the last match, Buckeye needed a KO or a clean sweep to get the win and cut Nebraska's lead in the WTB to a single game. Dunlap nearly got got the stoppage in round 1, dropping Hinke for an 8 count, but failing to put him away. The second round was close, with many feeling that Hinke did enough to pull it out, but referee Mills Lane saw differently, giving the round to Dunlap, who then went on to dominate the 3rd stanza and take the match. Hinke was livid with the decision, deriding Lane for stealing what should have been a tie match for Louisville, though he also acknowledged he could have done more when he had Dunlap on his heels in round 2.

Moment of the Match

What should have been a spark that ignited a fire, became a mere flicker in another night of frustration for Louisville. Manual Ramos' 1st round blitz of new Chilton Cup Champion Quinn Navare did little to inspire his teammates, with Team captain Archie Moore again setting the standard of mediocrity. Plagued by what has become a trademark a slow start, 'The Old Mongoose' fought back furiously in the 3rd round and had David Izon in trouble, but could not put him away. Moore now falls to 2-7-2 (0) in what has become a season of despair for both Moore and his team. Archie refused to speak with the press after the match, saying only he let his teammates down as he pushed past reporters on his way to the Louisville bus.

You're on a nice run with wins over the top 2 teams the last 2 rounds....The Sounders are the hottest team in the league for sure right now.

Just as an FYI, I was going to do one more match tonight but I am a little beat up after Jiu Jitsu, so I am going to shower and crash. Probably won't finish round 10 until Wednesday with tomorrow being Valentine's day and all. If I can squeeze a match in during the day tomorrow while I am working I will, but the night belongs to the missus

Moments of the Match

A sparse crowd filed into the Punching Bags cavernous arena having no clue they would witness one of the most exciting contests of the season. With the Cornjabbers clinging to 1st place after a recent 2 match skid and the Punching Bags stuck in the cellar, most expected a rout. Not so fast my friends. With the match tied at 5 apiece, Joe Kennedy dealt a blow to both the Cornjabbers chances and the sagging luster of Eddie Neilson, catching the Brit just 47 seconds in with a thunderous right. Neilson pitched forward and fell face first, out for the count.

Enter 'The Sniper' for the final bout to face the lowest scoring fighter in the league, Paddy Ryan. Knowing he needed just 1 round to secure the win for his team, Ryan traded with Sanders in a very close first round. That same strategy failed miserably in the 2nd, as Ryan was hurt early and finally pounded out with under 20 seconds to go. The deciding factor would be that initial stanza, which Art Donovan gave to Sanders. Nebraska escaped with the tie and the small, but boisterous crowd hurled everything not nailed down into the ring.

Note: I will finish round 10 tomorrow and we will also have our first individual top 10 rankings released now that everyone will have completed 10 fights.

Moment of the Match

The Sounders continue their rise from ashes to glory, thanks to David Hayes demolition of one of the hottest fighters in the league. Kevin McBride was on a 5 bout win streak, that included 3 knockouts, and was in position to rally his team after taking round 1 from Haye in the final bout to cut Washington's lead to 7-6. In round 2 however it was the always outspoken and often maligned Haye who took control. Dropping McBride with a left/right halfway in, Haye then exploded sending McBride to the canvas a second time with a wicked assault. McBride rose again, but was badly hurt and after Haye's first blow sent him reeling into the ropes, referee Joe Cortez stopped it. Washington now sits in 3rd place and moves into a tie for 2nd if Ice Tea Boxing can defeat Buckeye promotions in the rounds final match.
