World Team Boxing League - Auction Thread: 1901 Auction Complete

[/B]The auction for season one is set to start.

Each owner will first select the size of arena they wish to use (Small, Medium, Large) and then list 5 fighters with a bid amount for each fighter and then submit the bid to me via PM.

After all bids are received fighters will be awarded as follows.

1-Only one owner bids - You win the fighter and your bid becomes his contracted wage.

2-Multiple owner bids - The fighter goes to the owner with the highest bid and the winning bid becomes his contracted wage.

3-Tie - In the event of a tie bid between 2 or more owners the fighter goes back to the auction pool and must be bid on again in the next round. This is a season 1 rule only, from season 2 on if there is a ties the owner with the worst record the previous season will win the bid.

After all bids are reviewed and fighters awarded I will post updated rosters with all fighters under contract and adjusted financials.

The process will continue until all rosters have 5 fighters, at which point you can sign any or all fighters to multiple year deals (4 max) subject to the appropriate flat fee as indicated in the league rules. (2 year deal one time fee of $1, 3 year deal $2, 4 year deal $3) This flat fee is considered a bonus for the fighter signing for more than one season and his wage will be the winning bid for the length of the contract.

Example of a bid submission

Team: Chicago Hitmen
Arena: Medium
Joe Palooka $2
Apollo Creed $9
Mickey Rourke $4.25
Robert Deniro $6.50
Clubber Lang $11.00

After all bids are received you get all the fighters on your list that your bid is the highest for. If in the example above I got 3 of the fighters I bid on, my second round bid list would be = to the number of vacancies still on my roster (in this case 2 fighters)

Season 1 Draft Pool (Zip file of pool attached) - I would like to have the auction complete by Wednesday or Thursday if possible, hoping to start the season next weekend (Good luck to all owners!!)

First round bids in for Louisville, Nebraska, Washington and Hebron.

Loving the action so far, in fact 1 fighter has been bid on by all 4 teams thus far......Can't tell you who that is though

4 more teams to go and then the first round winners will be declared.

5 bid sheets tallied and the love continues for 1 fighter, who has now been named on all 5 bid sheets submitted.

Lets see if Bears Unstable, Ice Tea Boxing and The Punching Bags keep the string rolling......

Update based on bid submissions to date....

Hebron leading on 4 fighters
Nebraska leading on 3 fighters
Louisville leading on 2 fighters
Buckeye productions leading 2 fighters
Washington leading on 2 fighters

When you announce the winning bids it would be more interesting if you named just the teams that won and the fighter they got. It would keep things more challenging for us if we did not know what the other teams have spent.

I like this idea since in the real world contract details are not always immediately known. Once the auction is complete I will unveil the contracts on the team roster page, which will include each fighters wage, but for the auction it will be secret, does that sound good?

I have an example of what the teams rosters and financial information will look like below once the auction is complete. Bear, I will use your team as an example with fighters that are NOT in this pool.

Team roster/financial example

Bears UnstableWLDPFPAArena
Bear 00000Medium
Starting Funds$50.00 Arena$6.00 Fees$3.00
Total Expenses$43.25 Gates$0.00 Current Balance$6.75
FightersWLDKOwagescontract
Tommy Burns$9.25 3yrs
Arthur Pelkey$6.75 1yr
Chuck Wepner$2.00 1yr
Leon Spinks$4.00 2yrs
Jack Sharkey$12.25 1yr

The fees section represents the retainers paid for Burns and Spinks multi-year deals. Your income will be added to in the Gates column and accumulate during the season raising your current balance, which will then become your starting funds in season 2. Again I will not post these screens until after the draft, so nobody will know what is being bid during the process.

The rosters will be published for each team after that weeks two rounds of matches with the standings, so you can track your finances as well as your fighters records.

Another possibility would be to just tell everyone what the updated free agent list is. We'd be more in the dark trying to fill our rosters.

You would need a way to know how much you spent though since the bids are varying quite a bit, it would affect 2nd/3rd round bids and also plays into lineup strategy. I think your first idea of telling who got who, but not what the winning bid was will be the way to go.

You could Pm each owner about who they won so they'd know what they spent, but post an updated free agent list so no one would know who had who.

I don't mind not knowing the other team's salaries until after the auction but I would need to know what I spent.

I'm heading out for the day but will bring my sheet with me in case Mark checks in during the day. Otherwise, everyone will be waiting for me until late tonight on the second round.
