192 men Welterweight Tournament

A huge tournament with welterweights from the eighties to our days.

First Stage: Qualifiers groups: The 192 fighters will be divided on 32 groups of six men fighting a round robin, the first two of each group will advance to the main tournament stage.

Second Stage: Main Tournament: A 64 men double elimination tournament.

This will start soon....

Group 1: Canelo stops Kamegai on tournament kickoff

The great favourite to win the group 1 Saul Alvarez scored TKO8 win-on cuts- against iron-chined japanese Yoshihiro Kamegai. The japanese dropped Canelo on the first round but then the Mexican recovered well and outlanded him for the rest of the fight on a back and forth style affaire. At the time of the stoppage Canelo led on two scorecards by 69-65 and 68-65 with the other 67-66 for Kamegai.
On other action James Page scored a convincing UD10 win against Sergey Fedchenko. Page took an early lead on the first four rounds also dropping Fedchenko on the third one. Then Fedchenko did it well on the middle rounds but Page closed the fight on better form. The scorecards were 98-94 (x2) and 97-93.
Finally Randy Shields climbed from the canvas on the second round to score a more difficult than expected UD10 win against Jose Miguel Coto. The scorecards were 96-94 and 96-93 (x2)

Group 2: Hatton dominaated M'Baye

The odds favourte on this group Ricky Hatton scored a confortable TKO10-on cuts- win against Soulimane M'Baye. Hatton outpowered and outworked a game M'Baye for most of the fight. As a highlight Hatton gave M'baye a real beating on the seventh round.At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 87-82 (x2) and 87-82 for Hatton.
On the first upset of the tournament argentine Ariel Chaves scored a MD10 against Joshua Clottey. The light hitting Chaves managed to outbox a slow Clottey for most of the fight. The scorecards were 98-94 (x2) and somehow 96-96.
Finally Marcos Maidana had more trouble than expected to score a UD10 win against a very game Fredric Klose. The frenchman managed to handle Maidana's power and also answered the fire on great form. The scorecards were 96-94, 97-93 and 98-96.

Group 3: Mosley outpoints Solomon

After a lackluster first part of the fight Shane Mosley accelerated the pace and also gave a beating to Solomon on the eighth round to finally score a convincing UD10 win with scorecards of 97-92, 99-91 and 96-95.
On other action Tyron Trice scored a KO6 victory against Hercules Kyvelos. The canadian had an edge after three rounds and also was clearly dominating the fourth one when Trice caught him with a big hook to the head and dropped him. On the following round Trice dropped Kyvelos again this time for good. At the time of the stoppage the scorecard were 48-47 (x2) and 49-46 for Trice.
Finally australian Jeff Horn scored a deserved but laborious UD10 win against Felix Flores. Horn dropped Flores on the second round but Jose cameback on the middle rounds but finally Horn closed the fight better to secure the win. The scorecards were 96-93 (x3)

Group 4: Honeyghan, Castillo and Ortiz victorious

Lloyd Honeyghan scored a one-sided UD10 win against Mauricio Bravo. Honeyghan outboxed and outlanded Bravo all night long. The scorecards were 99-91 (x2) and 98-92.
On an outstanding performance Mexican warrior Jose Luis Castillo dropped Maxim Nesterenko three times on his way to a huge UD10 win by scorecards of 99-89 (x2) and 98-90.
Finally Victor Ortiz scored a TKO6 -on cuts- win against Roman Belaev. Ortiz controlled the first four rounds, the fourth on big form. Then he got tired and Belaev controlled the fifth round but on the sixth Ortiz opened a gash above Belaev's right eyebrow with an uppercut and the referee stopped the fight. At that time the scorecards were 49-46 (x2) and 48-47 for Ortiz.

Group 5: Williams easily stops Gavin


Paul Williams scored a one-sided TKO8 win against Frankie Gavin. Williams punished Gavin for most of the fight until the referee stopped the uneven fight on the eighth round with Gavin receiving punch after punch. At that time the scorecards were 69-64 (x2) and 68-65 for Williams.
On other action Carlos "el Indio" Quintana scoring a dominating UD10 win against Jermaine White. Quintana dropped White on rounds eight and nine. The scorecards were 99-90 (x2) and 98-91.
Finally Floyd Mayweather Sr scored a TKO5 -on cuts- win against Jose Celaya. Mayweather won the first three rounds, the fourth was for Celaya but on the fifth round Mayweather reopened a cut over Celaya right eye with a jab and the referee stopped the action. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 39-37 (x2) for Mayweather and 39-37 for Celaya.

Group 6: Palomino and Judah score one-sided wins

Carlos Palomino scored a very confortable UD10 win against Nick Casal. The fight was competitive for the first four rounds, then Palomino took the total control also dropping Casal on the ninth round. The scorecards were 99-91, 98-91 and 97-93.
The upset of the night was the TKO4 -on cuts- victory of Bradley Saunders against Nino LaRocca. Saunders controlled the first round then LaRocca dominated the second and the third ones and was clearly dominating the fourth round until Saunders connected a heavy jab and opened a cut over LaRocca's right eye and the referee stopped -too early- the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 30-27 (x2) and 29-28 for LaRocca.
Finally Zab Judah scored a one-sided UD10 win against Mathew Hatton. Judah easily controlled most of the fight and he also dropped Hatton on the eighth round. The scorecards were 98-91, 99-90 and 98-90.

Group 7: Brook wins; Katejev upsets Carr

On the main event Kell Brook scored a nearly one-sided UD10 win against Hassan Al. After a first round on Al favor Brook took the control of the fight for good easily outlanding Al. The scorecards were 99-92, 98-93 and somehow 96-95.
On other action Armando Muņiz scored a one-punch KO4 win against Johan Perez. The colombian dominated the first round but then Muņiz took the control on rounds two and three and finally he put Perez to sleep with a lighting right to the jaw early on the fourth round. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 29-28 (x3) for Muņiz.
Finally on the upset of the night Ahmed Katejev scored a TKO9 -on cuts- win against Oba Carr. Katajev took an early lead after four rounds. On the fifth round Carr dropped Katejev but on the following round Katejev dropped Carr. Then Katejev continued dominating the actions until the referee stopped the fight on the ninth round due to a cut over Carr right eye. At that time Katejev led on the scorecards by 77-73 (x3).

Group 8: Pacquiao outpoints Bundu

Manny Pacquiao scored a confortable UD10 win against Leonard Bundu. The italian was very competitive for the first seven rounds but then Pacquiao clearly outpunched him on rounds eight and nine to secure his victory. The scorecards were 99-92, 97-93 and 99-93.
On a war of the ring KO-artist Randall Bailey scored a UD10 win against Alan Sanchez. The fight was deadly even after six rounds. Then Bailey dropped Sanchez on the seventh round but Sanchez dropped Bailey on the following round. But there was more Bailey dropped Sanchez on the ninth round and again on the tenth one and then attemped to finish the fight but Sanchez survived the storm. The scorecards were 97-90, 95-91 and 96-91.
Finally on a totally one-sided contest Brandon Rios dropped Michael Stewart five times on his way to a KO10 win. Rios ended the fight with a perfect uppercut at the 44 seconds mark on the last round. At that time the scorecards were 90-77 (x2) and 90-78 for Rios

Group 9: Upsetland!

The night started with Paulie Malignaggi scoring a KO3 victory against Ramon Campas. The mexican took the fight to Malignaggi from the start and clearly won the first two rounds. He also was winning the third one when the usually light-hitting Maliggnagi connected a big right on couterpunch and dropped Campas for the ten count. At that time the scorecards were 20-18 (x2) for Campas and 19-19.
On the second fight of the night little regarded Santos Cardona scored a close SD10 against Carlos Baldomir. The argentine Baldomir had an edge after eight competitive rounds. Cardona dropped Baldomir on the ninth round and also won the last stanza to turn the fight on his favor. The scorecards were 95-94 (x2) for Cardona and 96-93 for Baldomir.
Finally on the main event of the night Sugar Ray Leonard dodged a bullet in scoring TKO8 victory against Collin Jones. After a first round on Leonard's favor, Jones took the control on rounds from two to five also dropping Leonard on the fourth round. With a fantastic sixth round Leonard started his rally also winning the seventh round on big form. On the eighth round Leonard dropped Jones with a big combination and after he got up Leonard connected punch after punch until the referee stopped the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 67-65 (x3) for Jones.

Group 10: Quartey destroys Omotoso on afrcan duel


Ike Quartey scored a KO1 win agains Nigerian Wale Omotoso, a big left-right combination to the head by Quartey only a few seconds into the fight dropped Omotoso for the ten count.
On other action Ionut Dan scored a TKO3 -on cuts- win against Vyacheslav Senchenko. at the time of the stoppage the fight was close without any remarkable action. Dan opened a cut over Senchenko left eye on the first round and reopened it on the third round with a snapping head uppercut forcing the referee to stop the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 19-19 (x2) and 20-18 for Dan.
Finally Lucas Matthysse scored a well deserved MD10 against Paul Kamanga. The fight was close for most of the time but Matthysse turn it on his favor when he dropped Kamanga on the last round. The scorecards were 96-94 and 97-93 for Matthysse and 95-95.

Group 11: Mamby outpoints Sttaford


On a competitive but not action-packed fight Saoul Mamaby did just the neccesary to score a UD10 win against Roger Sttaford. Mamby took an early lead, then Sttafford rally a bit on the middle rounds but Mamby edged rounds from seven to nine to secure his victory. The scorecards were 96-94, 97-94 and 98-93.
On the second fight of the night Carlos Ocampo scored a TKO5 -on cuts- win against Harold Weston. For the first three rounds Weston had the upperhand, on the fourth round Ocampo dominated the actions and opened a cut over Weston's left eye. On the following round Ocampo landed a big uppercut and reopened the cut forcing the referee to stop the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 39-37 (x2) for Weston and 38-38.
On other action Cory Spinks outboxed Roberto Garcia most of the night to finally score a one-sided UD10 win. The scorecards were 99-91 and 98-92 (x2).

Group 12: Chavez stops McCloskey


Julio Cesar Chavez scored a coming from behind TKO10 win against Paul McCloskey. After eight rounds McCloskey had a good lead on the scorecards and was in the way to an upsetting victory. But on the ninth round Chavez came like a storm and dropped McCloskey two times. McCloskey survived the round but only to be floored three more times by Chavez on the following round for the automatic TKO. At that time the scorecards were 85-85 (x2) and somehow 87-83 for Chavez.
On other action Michelle Piccirillo survived two knockdowns on the first round to finally score a TKO6 victory against Cecil McCalla. Piccirillo dropped McCalla on rounds four and five and on the sixth one he punished McCalla until the referee stopped the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 46-45 (x3) for Piccirillo.
Finally Diego "la Joya" Chaves scored a TKO5 victory against Eammon Magee. Chaves outboxed Magee for the whole fight and he also dropped Magee on the second round and again on the fifth one. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 40-35 (x2) and 39-36 for Chaves.

Group 13: Trinidad dominates Ecklund

Felix Trinidad scored a one-sided UD10 win against an overmatched Dick Ecklund. Trinidad dropped Ecklund on rounds two and seven but failed to finish the fight inside the distance. The scorecards were 98-90 (x2) and 99-89.
On other action Jose Antonio Rivera had more trouble than expected to finally score a SD10 win against Walter Crucce.The argentine Crucce had a good start and Rivera needed to rally hard on the second half of the fight in which he dropped Crucce on the eight round with a hard cross. The scorecards were 97-92 (x2) for Rivera and 95-94 for Crucce.
Finally Milton McCrory scored a very dominant UD10 win against Dimitry Mikhaylenko. McCrory dropped Mikhaylenko three times across the fight. Dimitry heard the saviour final bell on the floor. The scorecards were 99-88 (x2) and 97-90.

Group 14: Pryor destroys Gray.

Aaron Pryor needed less than 90 seconds to score a KO1 win against Clyde Gray. A quick barrage of punches by Pryor dropped Gray for the ten count. Gray was suposed to have the puncher chance but he never connected a punch.
On the upset of the night Joey Gamache scored a convincing UD10 win against Seluck Aydin. The fight was very even for the first six rounds but Gamache won the last four rounds of the fight to secure his win. The scorecards were 97-93 (x2) and 96-94.
Finally Ricardo "Matador" Mayorga scored a totally one-sided UD10 win against Roberto Ortiz. Mayorga dropped Ortiz on rounds two, nine and ten. The scorecards were 99-89 (x2) and 97-90.

Group 15: Margarito stops Lewis.

Maexican warrior Antonio Margarito scored a TKO8 win against Andrew "Six Heads" Lewis. For the first three rounds of the fight Lewis outboxed and outspeeded Margarito but on the fourth one Margarito dropped him with a big combination and the fight changed for good. After that Margarito was the total dominator of the fight dropping Lewis two times on the sixth round; one time on the eighth and another one on the eight round until the referee decided to stop the uneven fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 67-62 (x2) and 68-61 for Margarito.
On other action Antonio Orozco scored a KO8 win against Toshiro Arikawa. Orozco took an early lead after five rounds; Arikawa came back on rounds six and seven but Orozco caught him with a huge uppercut on the eight round and dropped him for the ten count. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 67-66 (x2) for Orozco and 67-66 for Arikawa.
Finally on a more competitive fight than expected Glenwood Brown scored a TKO9 win against Sebastian Lujan. Brown dropped Lujan on the second round but after eight rounds the fight was still very competitive. On the ninth round Brown dropped Lujan again and after he got up Brown connected punch after punch until the referee stopped the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 75-75 and 76-74 and 77-73 for Brown. The referee deducted a point from Lujan.

Group 16: Marquez and Martinez victorious


Juan Manuel Marquez scored a dominant UD10 win against Angel Esapada. Marquez dominated most of the fight, Espada only was able to steal a pair of rounds. Marquez dropped Espada two times on the ninth round and one more time on the last one. The scorecards were 98-91 (x3).
Konstantin Ponomarev scored a TKO6 -on cuts- win against Antonin DeCaire. The Canadian controlled the first round but Ponomarev had a big second and also controlled the third round. On rounds four and five DeCaire was the better of the two. He also was dominating the sixth round when the referee stopped the bout due to a cut above his right eye. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 48-47 (x3) for DeCaire.
Finally Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez outboxed Dave Green for ten rounds to score a clear cut UD10 win. Martinez also dropped Green on the sixth round. The scorecards were 99-90 (x2) and somehow 96-93.

Group 17: Oscar stops Abregu

Oscar de La Hoya scores a dominant TKO5 victory against Luis Abregu. De La Hoya won the first three rounds then he dropped Abregu on the fourth round and two more times on the fifth one. The referee stopped the fight with Abregu receiving punch after punch without any answer. At that time the scorecards were 40-35 (x3) for De la Hoya.
On other action Kermit Cintron scored a TKO3 win against Charlie Navarro. After spliting the first two rounds; Cintron connected some hard punches to the head on the third and when Navarro raised his arms Cintron connected a huge hook to the body and dropped him. Navarro got up but never recovers; the refree stopped the fight seconds later.
Finally on the upset of the night Fausto Rodriguez scored a MD10 against Robert "the Ghost" Guerrero. The fight started with Guerrero winning two of the first three rounds. Rodriguez took the control on the middle rounds winning the fourth and fifth ones and dropping Guerrero on the sixth one. Finally Guerrero rallied hard on the four last rounds of the fight and semeed to have done enough to edge the fight but not on the judges view. The scorecards were 96-93 and 95-94 for Rodriguez with the other 95-95.

Group 18: Whitaker palys with Jackiewicz

Pernell Whitaker easily outboxed Rafal Jackiewicz in his way to score a onesided UD10 win. Very easy for Pernell that won almost all the rounds of the fight. The scorecards were 99-91 (x2) and 99-92.
On other action Giovani Parisi scored a TUD7 win against Michael Tarbant. Parisi dropped Tarbant on the fifth round and was confortable ahead when the referee have to stop the fight due to a cut above Tarbant's left eye produced by an accidental headbutt. The scorecards were 58-55 (x3).
Finally Terrance Crawford was lucky in score a very close SD10 win against little heralded Christian Bladt. The fight was very even with many rounds difficult to score but at the end Bladt seemed to have done just enough to win the fight but the judges gave it to Crawford. The scorecards were 96-95 and 98-93 for Crawford and 97-95 for Bladt.

Group 19: Cotto stops Jones

On a short fight Miguel Angel Cotto scored a KO2 win against Carson Jones. The first round was in total favor of Jones that took the fight to Cotto and connected several hard blows. On the second round Jones attemped to continue attacking but Cotto caught him with a huge straight right and then he connected several hard blows until putting Jones to sleep with a perfect uppercut.
On the upset of the group Bruce Finch scored a TKO8 win against Vince Phillips. After seven rounds the fight was competitive but with Finch having the upperhand. On the eight round Finch dropped Phillips with a body shot. Phillips got up but Finch dropped him again with a hook to the head. Phillips got up in bad shape and after he took a pair more of shots the referee stopped the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 68-64 (x2) and 67-65 for Finch.
Finally talented Meldrick Taylor scored a TKO10 victory against Egidijus Kauliauskas. Taylor outboxed and outspeeded a game Kauliauskas for most of the fight. Finally Taylor dropped Kauliauskas three times for the automatic TKO win. At that time the scorecards were 89-82, 87-84 and somehow 86-85.

Group 20: Damgaard upsets Curry

On the greatest upset of the tournamet at the moment Thomas Damgaard scored a close SD10 win against a bar trained Donald Curry. The fight was a really a close one with the fighters alternating on the dominance round by round. Damgaard seemed to close the fight in better form on the last two rounds what gave him a very, very slim edge. The scorecards were 96-95 (x2) for Damgaard and 96-95 for Curry.
On a great boxing exhibition Mark Breland scored a nearly shutout UD10 win against Ashley Theophane. Breland was always in control and also dropped Theophane two times on the last round. The scorecards were 100-89 and 99-89 (x2).
Finally Luis Collazo scored an easy onesided UD10 win against Rico Mueler. The German steal a pair of rounds and was comptitve on an other few but Collazo dominated most of the fight. The scorecards were 99-92 and 98-93 (x2).

Group 21: Cuevas destroys Jones

Hard hitter Jose Pipino Cuevas scored a KO3 win against Mike Jones. Cuevas dominated the first two rounds and then he dropped Jones for the ten count with a hook to the body on the third round. At the times of the stoppage the scorecards were 20-18 (x3) for Cuevas.
On other action Kirkland Laing scored a KO7 victory against Bradley Skeete on a fantastic war of the ring. Laing controlled the first five rounds of the fight also dropping Skeete on rounds one and four. On the sixth round Skeete had his momentum when he dropped Laing two times; Laing survived the storm and on the following round he finished Skeete with a big straight right to the head. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 57-53 (x3) for Laing.
Finally Andre Berto scored a TKO8 win against Pablo Cesar Cano. Berto dropped Cano on the eighth round and when Cano got up Berto connected punch after punch without answer until the referee stopped the uneven fight.

Buddy McGirt scored a KO3 win against Sakaria Ve.The end of the fight came after a big body shot by McGirt that dropped Ve for the ten count. At that time the scorecards were 20-18 for Ve and 20-18 (x2) for McGirt.
On other action Lenny Daws scored an unexpected UD10 win against Jesse Vargas. The fight was very close for the first six rounds but then Daws won the last four rounds of the fight to secure his win. The scorecards were 97-93 (x2) and 96-95.
Finally on a huge upset Tommy Ayers scored a KO1 win against Adrien Broner. A big uppercut by Ayers followed by a hard cross to Broner's head put Adrien to sleep for the ten count.

Group 23: Starling outpoints Ben Rabeh

Marlon Starling scored a UD10 win against Noufel Ben Rabeh in spite of visiting the canvas on the ninth round. The fight was competitive but Starling seemed to have done enough to win. The referee deducted a point from Ben Rabeh on the last round.The scorecards were 95-94, 95-93 and 96-92.
On other action on a very close fight Oktay Urkal scored a SD10 win against Michel Finney. Changing fight with to many rounds difficult to rate, it could have gone either way. The scorecards were 97-94 and 98-93 for Urkal and 97-94 for Finney.
Finally Andry Price scored a TKO1 -on cuts- win against Michael Jennings. Preice connected a big right that stunned and also cut Jennins over his right eye. Watching the blood over Jennings' face the referee stopped (too quickly) the fight.

Little known Japanese Tadashi Yuba scored an upsetting MD10 win against Aaron Davis.Yuba dropped Davis on the third round but the fight was a really close one. The scorecards were 96-94 and 96-93 for Yuba and 95-95.
On other action Devon Alexander scored a KO6 win against Dave Ryan. Alexander outboxed Ryan most of the time until finishing him with a big left-righ combination on the sixth round. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 49-46 and 48-47 for Alexander with the other an incredible 49-46 for Ryan.
Finally Ruslan Providnikov scored a MD10 against Felix Diaz. Provodnikov needed to rally on the second part of the fight to secure his victory. The scorecards were 96-94 and 97-93 for Provodnikov with the other 95-95.

Group 25: Bradley wins, Peterson losses

Tim Bradley climbed from the canvas on the fourth round to score a laborious but deserved UD10 win against Miguel Gonzalez. Bradley dominated the first three rounds; Gonzalez dropped Bradley on the fourth one and also won the fifth one. The segment from rounds six to eight was very close and Bradley closed the fight on better form on the last two rounds. The scorecards were 96-94,97-93 and 95-94.
On other fight Viktor Plotnykov scored a KO6 win against Golden Johnson. After five rounds Johnson had a little edge but on the sixth one Plotnykov ended the fight with a perfect cross to Johnson's chin. At that time the scorecards were 48-47 (x3) for Johnson.
Finally on the upset of the group Ray Robinson scored a MD10 win against Lamont Peterson. Robinson did the neccesary to win against an apathetic Peterson. The scorecards were 97-93 (x2) and 95-95.

Keith Thurman scored a convincing UD10 win against Joel Julio. The fight was close for four rounds, then Thurman took the control and he also dropped Julio on the last round. The scorecards were 98-91 (x3).
On other action Troy Whortam scored a MD10 against Tony Chiaverini. Whortman did a bit more against a very competitive Chiaverini that attemped to rally on the last three rounds but it wasn't enough for him to win the fight. The scorecards were 97-93 and 96-94 with the other 95-95.
Finally Vernon Forrest scored a KO8 win against Cosme Rivera. Forrest was the best man on the ring but Rivera managed to steal a pair of rounds. Forrest ended the fight with a quick barrage of punches at the middle stages of the eighth round. At that time the scorecards were 68-65 (x2) and 68-66 for Forrest.

Group 27: Benitez dominates Vazquez

Wilfred Benitez scored an easy UD10 win against Sammy Vazquez. Benitez controlled most of the fight and he also dropped Vazquez two times on the seventh round. The scorecards were 98-90 (x2) and 97-92.
On other action Pete Ranzany scored a TKO5 -on cuts- win against Alex Saucedo. Ranzany dominated rounds three and four and then he opened a cut over Saucedo's left eye with a sharp hook and the referee stopped the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 39-37 (x2) for Ranzany and 38-38.
Finally Shramba Mitchell scored a TKO9 -on cuts- win against Azel Cosio. Mitchell controlled most of the fight but Cosio was a very competitve rival. The fight was stopped on the ninth round due to a cut over Cosio's right eye. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 78-75, 77-75 and 77-76 for Mitchell.

Thomas Hearns scored a KO4 win against Chris Algieri. Hearns dominated the first three rounds and on the fourth one he dropped Algieri two times the last for good with a body shot. (30-27 (x3) at the time of the stoppage).
On other fight Diosbelys Hurtado scored a dominant TKO3 win against Aaron Martinez. Hurtado dropped Martinez on the first round and then he punished Aaron on rounds two and three until the referee stopped the fight. (20-17 (x3) on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage).
Finally the fight between the hot favourite Errol Spence Jr. and the underdog Willie Wise ended on a draw. After six rounds Wise had an advantage, Spence rallied and seemed to edge the fight after nine rounds but the last one was big for Wise to even the match. The scorecards were 95-95 (x2) and 96-94 for Spence Jr.

Group 29: Maywaether Jr. dominates Soto Karass


Floyd Mayweather Jr. scored a one-sided UD10 win against Jesus Soto-Karass. Mayweather controlled almost all the rounds of the fight and he also dropped the Mexican on the last round with a clean cross to the chin. The scorecards were 99-90 (x2) and 98-91.
On a short but thrilling fight Mike Alvarado scored a KO3 victory against David Kamau. After an even first round Kamau dropped Alvarado with a body shot. On the third round Alvarado caught Kamau with another body shot and dropped him for the ten count.
Finally Amir Khan scored a KO4 win against Joergen Hansen. Khan outboxed Hansen for three rounds and on the fourth one he ended the fight with a lighting right to the chin.

Roberto Duran scored a clear UD10 win against David Avanesyan. Duran controlled most of the action but Avanesyan was a very game rival. Duran dropped Avanesyan on rounds six and seven and the referee dedcuted a poinht from Avanesyan on the eighth round. The scorecards were 96-92 (x2) and 98-90.
On other action Maurice Blocker scored a very convincing UD10 win against Sam Eggington. Blocker dropped Eggington on the second round. The scorecards were 98-91 and 97-92 (x2).
Finally Crisanto Espaņa scored a KO6 win against Fredrick Lawson. Espaņa was dominating the actions when he connected a hard uppercut and dropped Lawson for the ten count. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 49-47, 48-47 and 49-46.

Group 31: Garcia stops Heair, Porter wins

Danny Garcia scored a TKO5 win against Jimmy Heair. Garcia dropped Heair on the second round and dominated most of the fight. Heair has his only moment on the fourth round. The referee stopped the fight on the sixth round when Garcia was giving a beating to Heair. At that time the scorecards were 49-45 (x2) and 48-46.
On other action Gianluca Branco scored a narrow UD10 win against Juan Urango. The fighters alternated on the dominance round by round. Branco dropped Urango on the sixth round and it gave him the edge. The scorecards were 95-94 (x3).
Finally Shawn Porter needed to put a major effort to score a UD10 win against Cesar Barrionuevo. The argentine was leading on the scorecards after seven rounds but Porter rallied and won the last three ones to secure his victory. The scorecards were 96-94 (x3).

On a sort of upset Ray Olivera scored a TKO6 win on cuts against Chris Van Heerden. The referee stopped the fight due to a cut over Van Heerden's right eye. At that moment Chris was leading on all three cards by 48-46 (x2) and 49-45.
Finally on a huge upset little regarded Argentine puncher Hector Saldivia scored a TKO4 win against Hector Camacho. The first three rounds were clear ones for Camacho. But on the fourth one Saldivia came like a devil and dropped Camacho three times for the automatic TKO. At the time of the stoppage Camacho led by 30-27 on the three scorecards.

Group 1: Alvarez outpoints Coto

Saul Canelo Alvarez scored a UD10 victory against Jose Miguel Coto. Alvarez needed to put a major effort to win. The fight was very even after eight rounds, Canelo only secured his win when he controlled the last two rounds of the bout. The referee deducted a point from Canelo on the fifth round. The scorecards were 96-94 (x3).
On other action James Page scored a dominant TKO8 win against Yoshihiro Kamegai. Page dropped Kamegai four times along the fight until the referee decided to stop the uneven affaire. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 69-62 (x3) for Page.
On the third fight of this group Randy Shields scored a KO4 win against Sergey Fedchenko. The fight started with two the first two rounds clearly for Fedchenko. On the third Shields started to turn the fight on his favor and on the fourth round he dropped Fedchenko for the ten count with a good left-right combination. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 29-28 (x3) for Fedchenko.

Joshua Clottey scored his first win on the tournament with a UD10 victory against Souleymane M'baye. Clottey controlled most of the fight. M'Baye had his moment on rounds four and five. The scorecards were 98-92 and 97-93 (x2).
Finally on an all argentine duel Marcos Maidana scored a MD10 win against Ariel Chaves. Maidana's power gave him the edge. Chaves boxed nicely and was near to pull the upset. Maidana dropped Chaves on round four and the referee deducted a point form Chaves. The scorecards were 96-93 (x2) and 95-95.

Group 3: Mosley and Horn stops foes.


Shane Mosley scored a KO9 win against Felix Flores. Mosley easily outboxed Flores and dropped him on the third round and again and for good on the ninth round with a trademark overhand right. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 78-74, 79-73 and 77-75 for Mosley.
Tyron Trice scored a one-sided UD10 win against Brad Solomon. Trice dropped Solomon four times along the fight but failed to end the fight inside the distance. The scorecards were 100-88, 99-89 and 99-88.
On other action Jeff Horn scored a destructive TKO4 win against Hercules Kyvelos. Horn dropped Kyvelos on rounds two and three and two more times on the fourth one until the refere decided to stop the fight. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 29-26 (x3) for Horn.

Lloyd Honeyghan destroyed Roman Belaev in only one round. The referee stopped the fight at the 2:57 mark of the first round with Belaev receiving all kind of shots.
On the upset of the night Mauricio Bravo scored a KO5 win against Jose Luis Castillo. The fight was back and forth from the start. After four rounds Bravo had a little edge. On the fifth round Bravo connected a clean cros to Castillo's chin and dropped the Mexican for the ten count. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 39-38 and 40-37 for Bravo with the other 39-38 for Castillo.
Finally Victor Ortiz dropped Maxim Nesterenko three times on his way to a one sided UD10 victory. The scorecards were 97-89, 98-88 and 99-88.

Group 5: Williams stops Celaya

Paul Williams scored a TKO7 win -on cuts- against Jose Celaya. Williams easily outboxed and outlanded Celaya until the referee stopped the fight due to a cut above Celaya left eye. At the time of the stoppage the scorecards were 59-54 (x2) for Williams and an incredible 57-56 for Celaya. The referee deducted a point form Celaya.
On other action Frank Gavin scored an upsetting UD10 win against Carlos Quintana. After eight rounds Quintana had a little edge but Gavin won the ninth round and dropped Quintana on the tenth one to turn the fight on his favor. The scorecards were 96-94 (x2) and 97-93.
Finally the fight between Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Jermaine White ended on a draw. Five rounds for each boxer. Mayweather had White on big trouble on the seventh round but not enough for the judges to give it 10-8 for him. The scorecards were 95-95 (x2) and 96-95 for White.

The fight between Nino LaRocca and Nick Casal ended on another draw. After seven rounds Casal had a good lead on the scorecards but LaRocca rallied and won the last three rounds to even the fight. The scorecards were 95-95 (x2) and 96-94 for LaRocca.
Finally Zab Judah scored a one-sided UD10 win against Bradley Saunders. Judah outboxed Saunders all night long and also scored a knockdown on the eight round. The scorecards were 99-90 (x2) and 98-91.
