JohnnyBench,
are you keeping track of injuries for your fighters. If so, is therte any other way then to read through the description of every fight fought? |

I started to keep track of the injuries but I decided to wait until I got my first two years of simming (1900 & 1901) out of the way. Those first two years are alot of autoscheduling. After they are over I will slow the pace down so that I can enjoy every fight more and by then my match ups will mean more because there will be some history behind them.
Then I will keep closer check on the injuries. I don't think you can check for injuries any other way than by reading the description of the fight. It would be nice if the game kept those for you wouldn't it? |

http://globalchampionshipboxing.20m.com/about.html GCB RING RAP - ISSUE # 15 (December 31, 1901) Welcome fight fans, we are so excited to tell you that this is the night that every one has been waiting for! The Chase For The Championships has finally reached it’s highest point. Tonight, we will show you our Official GCB World Rankings. And in doing so, will tell you what the match ups will be for all of our titles bouts coming up early in the 1902 year! Including, The GCB World Championship! I tell you fans, our fighters have been giving it all to try and get themselves in a position of Ranking that would assure them of a long awaited title shot. Some have moved up at the last minute to earn a title shot, while some dropped down just out of reach. Tonight, the fighters not only had to concentrate on their matches, but they had people listening to matches around the world to keep up on the nearest competition. Their nerves were on edge. Some responded to the pressure well and maintained their focus. Others cracked under the pressure and watched their title shot slip away between their fingers. Who made it? Who didn’t make it? Get ready, because we are going to give you our Official GCB World Rankings and announce to you who will be fighting for the first ever GCB World Title. Then we will give you our Official Regional Top Five for each Region and tell you who will be fighting for the Regional Titles. These are our top twenty fighters as of December 31, 1901. Coming in at #20 is Anthony The Shooting Star James with a record of 11-1 (2) Anthony made a strong comeback this year after losing on 6-15. Many are surprised that he made it back into the top twenty, but he is a Shooting Star. And they do shine bright sometimes. Coming in at #19 is another fighter that has overcome a couple of big upsets earlier in his career. He is Australia’s Mad dog Mike Raymond. He was able to pull together a 10-2 (6) record and catch the eye of our Ranking Committee. Finishing the year at #18 is William Butterfly Abbot from Germany. Butterfly actually finished the year with a 12-0 (5) record, but the judges must not have been very impressed with his performances. He dropped down from # 12 in June. When asked about his slide in the Rankings Abbot responded, “Something is seriously wrong here. Since June I have been 3-0. What else can I do? I beat everybody thrown at me. I can think of a few guys on the Ranking Committee that I would like to go a couple of rounds with!” Making his Debut in our top twenty at #17 is Ireland’s Russell Gwynn. Gwynn was expected to shoot to the top ever since we began the GCB, but an early loss due to a DQ apparently bothered our Ranking Committee. There is only so long that they could punish him for that. He has fought his way up to a 10-1-1 (6) record and fought his way into the minds of our Committee! Coming in at #16 is USA’s John Wright. Living up to his nickname of The Doctor, John with the precision of a surgeon, has sliced his way into our year’s end top twenty. His record of 12-0 (9) makes him one of the most impressive fighters in the GCB and we will soon see him in the running for a title match! Cool Clarence Adams comes in at #15. Cool overcame a Draw a few months ago to hold onto a top twenty spot. Clarence has a record of 11-0-1 (4). He has not really been boxing at the top of his game lately, but hopefully that will improve. #14 on our list is Mexico’s Luis Gomez. Gomez also had a draw early in his career that haunted him for a while, but 12 wins in a row is surely a ghost buster that gets everyone’s attention! Luis finished this year with a 11-0-1 (6) record and seems to be heading up the ladder of GCB success. Henry The Prince Wales of The UK comes in at #13. With a slow start and age against him, The Prince continues to impress every one that watches him fight. Eleven wins in a row earns him respect enough to be considered one of the top fighters around and give him a 11-0-1 (4) record. When asked about how his age was effecting his in ring performance, Henry said, “You guys talk like 36 is old. If I listen to you I would check into an old folks home! Just keep sending the young kids at me and don’t be surprised if one of them gets hurt. I am in as good of shape as anyone. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to trade my gloves for a rocking chair.” #12 has Claude Blitzkrieg Klitzer of Germany, moving up the rankings. Claude has moved up in every ranking published so far. A 12-0 (10) record tells us that it won’t be long before he moves on up to the top! Only three of Klitzer’s bouts have gone past six rounds! He is one of the most feared and respected fighters in the GCB. Another fighter from Mexico, Miguel Torria, comes in at #11. While having two matches go to a Draw, “The Bull” still finished with a 10-0-2 (8) record catching the eye of the Committee. So far Torria is the highest ranked fighter from the Western Continental Region. He may not be in line for a World Title shot, but one has to wonder if a Regional Title is within his grasp. Well fight fans, that is our end of the year rankings for our fighters ranked #11 to #20. As we enter into our top ten fighters of the past two years, I want to reemphasize that at least some of these will be getting an invitation to fight for Regional Titles and Two of them will get a chance to compete for the most prestigious title in the world, The GCB World Championship! Now for the Official GCB Top Ten…. Finishing the year at #10 is Germany’s Big Bulluka, Lothar Baxtar! Rumbling, stumbling, but never falling, Baxtar continues to out score every opponent that he faces. With only one Knock Out to his credit, The Big Bulluka continues to prove that power is not everything. He finished the year with a 12-0 (1) record. Baxtar has become a huge fan favorite because it seems that in every match he is an underdog, yet he rolls on! The #9 spot is filled with our first Russian boxer. Ollie The Mask Maskaevia. The Mask continues to be the talk of boxing. His flamboyant ring entrances continue to woo the fans while his 12-0 (7) record woos the Ranking Committee. Ollie has always worn extravagant robes and masks to the ring, but now he is greeted with thousands of fans wearing masks as well. Ollie is trying to come up with a name for his fans to show them the same support that they have shown him. If you have any suggestions let us know! Coming in at #8 is Poland’s Big Sausage, Mo Arrington. The Sausage has gotten the attention of fans and judges alike with his 9 KO’s in his 12-0 record! When told about his ranking, Mo said, “This is great! I am as surprised as anyone! I mean, of course I knew that I was winning, but so are a lot of other guys. I’d like to win a major title in the GCB, maybe then we (People from Poland) could get some respect! We never quite get the respect that we deserve, this might help.” Our youngest fighter in the top twenty comes in at #7. USA’s 23 year old sensation, Killer Kelly Carter, has been very impressive. In fact, there are some who say that he should be ranked higher than 7th. His 12-0 (10) record may suggest the same thing. Carter continues to stalk his opponents and pound them until they collapse. Only time will tell if Carter will be a champion, but I’ll bet there are 10 boxers out there that think so! The man leading the GCB in KO’s with 11 comes in at #6, Russia’s Vlad Hinlitch. He has only had one bout that didn’t end with his opponent flat on his back for a ten count. Many say that in that match his foe was out but didn’t have sense to know it! The Russian Hammer has lived up to his nickname. One broken opponent actually asked the judges to check the gloves of Hinlitch during the bout. He was heard saying, “He has to have something in there! No man can hit that hard.” After the match, Vlad gave over his gloves to the judges to be inspected. Vlad’s opponent received this response, “THE GLOVES ARE FINE. IT’S HIS FISTS THAT ARE LOADED!” Well fight fans, we are drawing closer now to our two top contenders. Remember, the #1 and #2 ranked fighters, after two years of bouts, will meet head on with one of them being crowned the first GCB World Champion! We are about to enter into our top five. Before we do, let’s take a look at who our top five were in our last Official GCB World Rankings that we did in June. Rank Name Country Record 1 Joseph Metzger Canada 9-0 (7) 2 Vlad Hinlitch Russia 9-0 (8) 3 Collin Byrd Argentina 9-0 (3) 4 Harold Winston U.K. 9-0 (8) 5 Mo Arrington Poland 9-0 (6) This was our last top five. As we can see Mo “The Big Sausage” Arrington and Vlad “The Russian Hammer” Hinlitch have dropped out of our top five this month. With that being the case, there must be some that moved up. The question is, did they move up enough to earn a title shot? Let’s see how it all unfolds. Coming in at #5, with a record of 12-0 (10) is Sir Harold Winston of the UK. Harold dropped down one notch, but was able to hold on to a top five position. He is the only fighter to be a top five contender in every ranking that we have had since the beginning of the GCB! Harold has been flawless with only two of his matches going past the sixth round. His 10 KO’s ranks him among the leaders in that category. When told about his end of the year ranking, Sir Harold was delighted. “I am so overwhelmed with this honor,” said Harold. “I have to give all the credit to my trainer Richie Giachetti. He keeps me focused on what I need to do and who I need to be. I hope this ranking puts me in line for a shot at the Central Continental Title!” #4 is our biggest surprise of the year. Also from the UK and with a record of 11-1 (5), Denny Williams. We mentioned him last time as someone that we really needed to watch. The Ranking Committee has been watching him and apparently the like what they see! DW lost his first professional fight back on 1-1-1900. Many, including himself questioned his future. With eleven straight wins, it appears that those questions have been answered. Williams does have a bright future in the GCB! We draw closer to seeing who our two competitors will be that face off for the GCB World Title. I want to remind everyone that after we find out who those two challengers will be, we will then reveal to everyone who the challengers will be for our three Regional Titles! Our next fighter while not a challenger yet for the World Title is guaranteed a shot at his Region’s Championship. Coming in at #3 and a challenger for the Eastern Continental Championship, Italy’s Fillipi Doki! The faithful student of Ray “The Professor” Davi seems to have surpassed his mentor in ring talent. Fillipi finishes the year with a 12-0 (8) record and is guaranteed an Eastern Continental Title Shot! His opponent will be announced in a few moments. This is it fight fans, the moment that we have all been waiting for. We have two spots remaining in our Official GCB World Rankings. These are the top two contenders and they will face each other on January 30, 1902 for the GCB World Title. These guys have earned this chance by working their way to the top of our organization. They have proved themselves in the ring to be champions at heart. They have pulled away from the rest of the pack and set themselves up as the standard by which a champion should be measured! Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the two men that will fight it out for the GCB World Title….. Coming in at #2 and earning a World Title Match is Argentina’s Collin “Tweety” Byrd! Not being known as a knock out fighter has always been a strike against Byrd, but his ring ability far out weighs the negatives. His 12-0 record has proven him to be an excellent competitor for all opponents. Collin has been a mainstay in our World Rankings since the beginning. He first entered in on December of 1900 at #14. By June of 1901, he had moved up to #3 and in the latter part of this year fought his way up to the #2 spot. When told about his invitation to fight for the GCB World Title, Byrd was ecstatic, “I am so blown away by all of this. So many have criticized me for not being a power puncher like some of the other guys. I even went through a phase where I wanted to try and change my style to be more of a slugger, but I knew that just wasn’t me. I know I can hold my own against anyone, but I never expected a Title Shot so soon. I have to remember to continue to do what brought me here.” Our #1 Ranked fighter and #1 contender for the GCB World Title is Canada’s, Joseph “Show Time” Metzger! With his 12-0 (9) record, he also brings to the ring one of the most energetic, charismatic fighting styles in the world! Metzger is full of excitement from start to finish of each fight. After his bouts, the fans go home just as tired as he is. He is a huge fan favorite and a solid contender for the World Title. Well, there you have it, folks. On January 30, 1902, Joseph “Show Time” Metzger of Canada will face Collin “Tweety” Byrd of Argentina for the GCB World Title! It is sure to be a great fight! Now, as promised, we want to show you our top five contenders in each of our three Regions. The top two in each Region that are not scheduled to fight for the World Title will face each other for the Regional Championship! These are the top five in the Western Continental Region: 1. Joseph Metzger - Canada 12-0 (9) 2. Collin Byrd - Argentina 12-0 (3) 3. Kelly Carter - USA 12-0 (10) 4. Miguel Torria - Mexico 10-0-2 (8) 5. Luis Gomez - Mexico 11-0-1 (6) The two top ranked fighters in the Western Continental Region are also the #1 and #2 Ranked in the World. Since those two will be fighting for the GCB World Title, The next two contenders will face each other for the Western Continental Title. On February 15, 1902. Kelly Carter of the USA will face Miguel Torria of Mexico for the Western Continental Title! These are the top five in the Central Continental Region: 1. Denny Williams - UK 11-1 (5) 2. Harold Winston - UK 12-0 (10) 3. Mo Arrington - Poland 12-0 (9) 4. Lothar Baxter - Germany 12-0 (1) 5. Claude Klitzer - Germany 12-0 (10) On February 30, 1902, Denny Williams will face his fellow Brit. Harold Winston for the Central Continental Title! These are the top five in the Eastern Continental Region: 1. Fillipi Doki - Italy 12-0 (8) 2. Vlad Hinlitch - Russia 12-0 (11) 3. Ollie Maskaevia - Russia 12-0 (7) 4. Mike Raymond - Australia 10-2 (6) 5. Hanrod McCline - Italy 11-1 (4) On March 15, 1902, Fillipi Doki will face Vlad Hinlitch for the Eastern Continental Title! Well fight fans, there you have it. It took two years to reach this point, but finally we are here. Beginning in 1902, we will crown our new GCB Champions! I hope you stay with us for these history making moments! That’s it for now. As always, remember to keep your hands up and keep moving! Last edited by JohnnyBench; 03-30-2004 at 11:08 PM. |

GCB Ring Rap -Issue #16
Hey Guys,
It's been a while since I have been able to do any updates. This press conference picks up after the GCB World Title Fight! GCB Ring Rap Issue # 16 January 30, 1902 PRESS CONFERENCE AFTER METZGER vs. BYRD WORLD TITLE FIGHT Welcome fight fans, we are still jumping with excitement! Tonight we crowned our first ever Global Championship Boxing World Champion! For Two Years, these two guys fought against various opponents all over the world. After all was said and done, they finished on top as the #1 and #2 fighters in the GCB, earning them a Title Shot against each other. This match was indeed a classic! We had two of the best boxers to ever lace up their boots going head to head. One came out a top contender and one came out the GCB World Champion! Tonight live from New York and viewed exclusively on the TBCB “Inside The Ropes” forum, we saw what many here are calling a surprise ending to our first World Title fight! About an hour ago Collin “Tweety” Byrd of Argentina defeated Canada’s Joseph “Showtime” Metzger to become the GCB World Champion! Not that many are surprised that Byrd won the bout, but I don’t think anyone expected to see Byrd physically dominate Metzger the way that he did tonight! Both fighters entered the Ring with a perfect record. Metzger with a 12-0 (9) record and Byrd with a 12-0 (3) record. Metzger, with his nine knock outs, has always been known for his slugging power and was expected to really give Byrd a pounding. BUT tonight it was Metzger who took the pounding! The usually light hitting Byrd unleashed a side of him that no one has seen before. Byrd knocked Metzger down four times in thirteen rounds with the last resulting in Metzger staying down for the count! I have to admit that I personally had Byrd an under dog favorite going into the bout and expected him to outlast Metzger by points, but I had no idea that Collin “Tweety” Byrd was capable of such aggressiveness! He was on the offense the entire bout and was even so aggressive that the Referee had to take a point away from him twice in this fight. Once for backhanding and once for elbowing. This style of slugging totally caught Metzger by surprise. I don’t think Byrd is a better slugger than Metzger, but I think Metzger was just completely caught off guard by Byrd tonight. We are going to have a very short press conference in just a moment to get the reaction of both fighters. I can’t wait to hear Metzger’s take on the fight. I hear the crowd cheering now. It appears that The New GCB World Champion, Collin Byrd is coming out. Let’s go there live…. The scene opens with the flashing of cameras and cheers of “CHAMP, CHAMP, CHAMP” echoing through out the building. Byrd with the World Title belt draped across his shoulders enters the room with his trainer, corner men, family and friends. He takes his place at the table as reporters and photographers jockey for closer positions around the Champ. The cheers turn to mumbles and whispers as the door opens and out walks Metzger’s trainer, Jimmy Glen without Metzger. He takes a seat where Metzger should be sitting. Jimmy Glen announces to the disappointed crowd that Metzger will not be coming out for the press conference. Saying that he just wants to be left alone right now. The reporters continue on… “Congratulations,” says the first reporter to Byrd. “Champ, it is okay if we call you that isn’t it?” Humbly “Tweety” smiles in agreement. “Champ, we gotta ask,” continues the reporter. “What happened out there tonight? We’ve never seen that side of you before.” “Well,” responds The New Champ. “That was kind of the plan. We entered into this fight with an all or nothing attitude. We knew that we were going to have to reach down and find something that we’ve never found before if we were going to win. Metzger is awesome. Hey, I’m a boxing fan like the rest of you guys. “Showtime” is one of my favorites and I think he is the best out there. To have any chance, I had to take myself to another level tonight.” “Tell us Champ,” asks another reporter. “What was going through your mind when you got the first knockdown in the fourth round?” “Honestly,” laughed Byrd. “I thought to myself, ‘Uh oh, he’s going to get up and kick my butt! I’ve seen him do that before and he had fire in his eyes when he got up! I thought, well this has been nice. Time for me to check out.” “Champ,” begins another reporter. “What are your plans now?” “Well,” replies Byrd. “I’m going to take a little time off and spend with my family and then I hit the gym again.” “Are you going to give Metzger a rematch?” asks another reporter. “Sure,” smiles the Champ. “I think he would give me one if the decision went the other way. I don’t know if he will get the first shot, but he definitely will be in line for one.” “How do you feel about Metzger not being here for this press conference?” asks a reporter. “I guess he needs to pull himself together,” says the Champ. “I won and feel like disappearing for a while and recuperating. I expect he feels the same way. I’m sure he does not feel like answering a bunch of questions right now. Guys, really I need to go. I’ll answer one more question.” All the reporters begin to raise their hands trying to get recognized by the Champ in hopes of getting the last question. They are suddenly quieted when the door opens. Out walks Joseph “Showtime” Metzger. He has a look of disgust on his face as he walks toward the table. The Champ sensing that Metzger is up to something stands to his feet with a defensive posture. “Showtime” surprises everyone by walking past Byrd and walking up to his trainer, Jimmy Glen. The disgruntled loser of the fight grabs the microphone from in front of his trainer and says, “Look, Jimmy. I hate to do this this way, but I am going to have to ask you to step down from being my trainer.” Surprised, Jimmy responds, “What’s wrong, Joe? What did I do? If you had done what I told you, you would be wearing the Gold Belt right now!” “I did what you told me,” said Metzger. “I told you that I needed to be more aggressive! I told you that I couldn’t hold back on this guy! But you wanted me to pace myself! You wanted me to let him wear himself out! The only one that got wore out was me. Jimmy, you took me out of my game. You didn’t let me fight my fight and I’m the one paying for it!” “So,” said Jimmy. “It’s my fault you got knocked down four times? It’s my fault that you end up flat on your back? Man, this is crazy! Who are you going to blame for your next loss? Your right, Joe. I do need to stop being your trainer!” Jimmy Glen pushes himself away from the table and walks out with reporters following and photographers flashing. The Champ leaves without saying a word leaving Metzger standing alone up on the platform. Reporters try to get his attention, Metzger shakes his head and walks out ending the press conference. GCB Ring Rap # 17
GCB Ring Rap Issue # 17 February 30, 1902
Welcome fight fans. So far this year the GCB has exploded with excitement! With only two months behind us here in 1902, we have already crowned three new Champions! As you know by now, our first World Champion was crowned on January 30. In a surprise finish, Collin “Tweety” Byrd, who has not been known for his power, gave Joseph “Showtime” Metzger a pounding for thirteen rounds before finishing him off by KO. Collin became the first ever GCB World Champion! After the fight, Metzger fired his trainer accusing him of not preparing him properly for the fight. The truth is, everyone was surprised by Byrd’s sudden burst of power and aggressiveness. No trainer could have foreseen the freight train that hit Metzger that night. I guess you have got to blame somebody. If you would like to see a replay of that great fight click here: Global Championship Boxing First World Title Fight After crowning the GCB World Champion, we then began to crown our regional Champs. As you remember, each fighter in the MAIN EVENT group is placed in one of three regions that best identifies where his home country is located. Only those fighters in each region can compete for the regional Title. Our second Title fight took place on February 15 and was for the Western Continental Title. Youngster, “Killer” Kelly Carter, from the USA, faced Mexico’s Miguel “The Bull” Torria. Torria came out slugging and flattened Carter in the second round. Carter found himself almost out for the count, but regained his composure and fought back strong. Carter out scored “The Bull” for the rest of the fight and was named, by Unanimous Decision, the winner of the fight and first ever GCB Western Continental Champion! If you would like to see a replay of that great fight click here: Global Championship Boxing's Western Continental Title Fight!! Our third Title fight just took place tonight. The GCB Central Continental Title was on the line as Two great fighters, both from the UK, went head to head for the prestigious title! Denny “DW Williams overcame a loss in his first career fight to win his next eleven fights in a row to earn a Title shot against the almost perfect “Sir” Harold Winston. This fight tonight was absolutely amazing. If you have not had a chance to see it you may have missed one of the best fights ever! At this time, we are not going to tell you who won that fight. You really ought to check it out at: Global Championship Boxing's Central Continental Title Bout!!! We will say this, there were five knock downs in this fight! The man laying on his back last could not get back up. We do have a new Central Continental Champion and He is….. In other news…. We just want to mention that at the beginning of 1902 we had a new fighter join the GCB. His name is Jaque Sheperd. He is from New Zealand and many believe that he is going to take the GCB by storm! So far he is 2-0 with 2 KO’s. Also, 1902 marked a crucial time for some of our fighters. According to our Ageing Formula, this is the year that some of our fighters are moved to “POST-PRIME” stage of their careers. Those fighters are listed below: Main Event Guys: Marcus Dominguez, Raymond Micender, Steve Sully, Henry “The Prince” Wales. We will be updating you on their careers. How long will they last? Only they control that! Well, that’s it for now. Always remember, Keep you hands up and keep moving! Last edited by JohnnyBench; 04-23-2004 at 06:41 AM. |
