I'm hoping it's against Chambers and not Griffo as I think Herrera has a better shot of beating Chambers.

Damn, I fear that Herrera's title reign is coming to a close then. Hopefully, he can pull out a great performance and beat Griffo.

Yeah, I know but hey he beat Welsh so maybe he can pull out another win. I doubt it but I'm going to keep hoping that he can.

Main Event LH - Jack Dillon (CH) (24-0) extended his winning streak to 24 with a easy UD15 win over John Donaldson (17/20) (21-14-1) to retain the WBC LH title. Dillon's WBA title was not on the line. Donaldson gave it all he had in the opening third of the fight, winning a couple of rounds but then Dillon took him to school the rest of the way. I had it 147-139 as did two of the judges with the 3rd scoring it 149-140. There were no knockdowns or cuts. Other fights MW - Jeff Clarke (20/15) (19-2) scored a good win over Mike Donovan (49/65) (26-20-5) by way of a UD10. Donovan continues to be a disappointment (rated 9). Clarke jumped to a big lead winning 5 of the first 6 rounds, then held on as Donovan came on strong for the last two rounds. I had it 97-93 as did all 3 judges. FW - Benny Soloman (30/21) (20-5-2) scored a UD10 over Ben Jordan (53/61) (15-7-4) to extend his winning streak to 7 bouts as he slowly creeps up in the rankings. It didn't look good as Jordan won the first 3 rounds but then Soloman took over the fight. Jordan looked like he'd make a run at it dominating the 9th until he got leveled late in the round. Soloman knocked him down twice more in the 10th. I had it 97-92, the official judges had it 97-91/97-91/97-92. LW - Knockout Brown (13/11) (17-0) TKO8 Sid Stagg (UR/90) (11-4) (both at pre, Brown moved to prime) HW - Gunboat Smith (69/63) (16-1) KO6 Ben Taylor (148/149) (11-15-2) (Smith at pre, Taylor is the lowest ranked HW) MW - Jack Williams (83/81) (17-11-3) SD10 Tom Henry (81/84) (9-9-3) (henry at pre) |

Main Event BW - George Dixon (3/CH) (34-10-1) scored an easy TKO5 over Harry Forbes (CH/9) (23-19-7) to win the WBC BW title. Dixon becomes a champion for the 3rd time, he has a 6-6-1 record in title bouts. Dixon dominated the fight from the start knocking Forbes down in the 2nd and 4th and stopping him in the 5th. I had it 39-35 at the stoppage. Other Fights BW - Chappie Moran (49/21) (22-22-3) (post) got a big boost in the rankings with a TKO10 over Flyweight champ Charles Harvey (CH/CH)(17-4-4). Moran dominated the early part of the fight and held off a comeback by Harvey before it was stopped in the 10th due to a cut that had been getting worse since the 2nd round. I had it 87-85 Moran at the stoppage. HW - Jack Fallon (UR) (6-0-1) (pre) remained unbeaten with a UD8 over Tompkins Gilbert (club) (12-28-5) (end). Fallon knocked down Gilbert in the first and won 7 rounds before getting dropped in the 8th. I had it 78-72, official judges saw it 78-73/77-74/77-73. LW - Tim Kearns (43/28) (17-9-3) jump started his career with a UD10 over Herb McCoy (23/38) (16-2-2) (pre). It was a tight fight through 6 then McCoy ran out of gas. He was dropped in the 7th and his right eye started swelling in the 8th. I had it 98-93, official judges saw it 97-93/99-91/98-92. BW - Al Delmont (14/14) (23-11-3) DRAW10 Biz Mackey (26/24) (16-6-2) (Mackey at pre .... embarrassing decision for Delmont) MW - Joe Thomas (58/48) (17-7-4) MD10 Denny Kelliher (49/66) (21-23-4) |

Main Event MW Billy Papke (CH) (25-4) scored a KO15 over Joe Chip (6/11) (17-1) (pre) for his second defense of the IBF title. It was his second KO15 in a row over a pre-prime fighter. Papke is doing his best to knockdown the undefeated pre-primes. Papke came out strong and won the first 5 or 6 rounds. He was cut over the left eye in the 7th and that inspired Chip as the challenger won the next few rounds. The sight of blood made Papke feel like cheating and he got 3 warnings and a point deduction in those rounds. Chip tired out though and Papke dominated down the stretch, knocking him down twice in the 15th. I had it 136-129 at the stoppage. Other fights FW - Jem Driscoll (2/2) (43-7-1) UD10 Danny McBride (11/13) (16-2-2) (mcbride at pre) BW - Harry Harris (15/15) (19-2-1) TKO1 Tommy Doherty (66/66) (12-14-1) (harris breaks a two fight losing streak) MW - George Gunther (32/20) (19-6-1) TKO6 Frank Craig (39/44) (28-14-2) (craig at post, tough first comeback fight from a year off) HW - Dave Campbell (117/113) (15-6) UD10 Pat Kieley (121/132) (22-21-2) (kieley at post) WW - Dixie Kid (23/20) (24-16-5) UD10 George Milton (57/62) (10-9-1) *** The OG rule failed to help Craig as he still had to fight at Post **** OG rule is post prime fighters have a 20% chance of fighting at prime if they are 1) fighting on a fight card 2) fighting someone ranked higher and 3) have a winning record. Both Craig and Kieley rolled over 20. Joe Chip had the same chance to fight at prime since pre-prime have the chance if they are fighting for the title or a top 10 ranked guy. He rolled over 20 also. |

Main event FW - Will Curley (CH) (23-9-3) won his second title with a KO6 over Solly Smith (CH/4). Curley made his first defense of his IBF FW title and won the WBA FW title. Curley struggled in the opening rounds losing 3 of the first 4. In the fifth he caught Smith and swelled up Smith's right eye. It obviously bothered Smith's vision as he was knocked cold by a left hook in the 6th. I had it 48-47 Smith at the stoppage. Other fights LW - George Keys (34/27) (16-0-2) (pre) scored a TKO6 over Kid Trembles (79/84) (9-6-2) (pre) to remain unbeaten. Keys also moved to prime with the win. He controlled the fight from the opening bell, cutting Trembles over the left eye in the 3rd, then hitting it repeatedly until the ref stopped it in the 6th. I had it 49-46 at the stoppage. HW - Jack O'Brien (13/13) (29-7-2) DQ10 Bill Curran (121/128) (11-10) (curran at pre) FW - Jack Skelly (40/31) (16-5-1) DQ7 Joe Berstein (32/40) (19-15-5) (skelly at pre, bernstein 1-2-1 since 11 fight win streak ended) HW - John Haines (88/78) (22-21-2) TKO5 Arthur Shock (107/117) (12-8-1) (Haines at post) FW - Jerry Marshall (67/61) (13-10-2) SD10 Ole Oleson (77/86) (14-17-4) |

Went to the last round dead even
January 19, 1912
Main Event LW The two champs went into the last round dead even but Young Griffo (CH) (37-8-6) wanted it more and pulled out the UD15 over Aurelio Herrera (CH/3) (24-10) to retain the WBC LW title and win the IBF LW title. Herrera fought well after getting off to a slow start. He had tied up the bout by the 10th round but also appeared exhausted. Griffo took the 11th and 12th but Herrera battled back again to tie it. Griffo had too much left in the final round and won it easily. It was power vs. accuracy all night long as Herrera averaged 131 punches per round but was only landing 18 of them, while Griffo was averaging 34 out of 67. that's 52% to 14%. I had it 144-143 Griffo, as did two of the judges with the 3rd ruling it 145-143. All 3 judges gave the 15th to Griffo. Other fights LW - Billy Farren (UR) (7-0-1) (pre) fought to a draw with Bill Crane (UR/club) (3-8-4) (pre) . He remains unbeaten and really should have gone to 8-0. There were no cuts or knockdowns in this fight but I had it 77-75 for Farren as did one judge. The other two saw it 76-76. FW - Black Griffo (club) (7-23-3) scored a UD8 over Harry Greenfield (UR) (6-1-1) to stop Greenfield's unbeaten career. Griffo knocked Greenfield down in the first and then held off a nice comeback to get the slim decision. I had it 77-76, the official judges saw it 77-76/78/76/77-75. HW - Jimmy Elliot (90/52) (30-9-3) UD10 Jack Rowan (21/47) (12-3-1) (rowan at pre, Elliot trying to revive his career) LH - Jim Dunn (36/30) (18-8-1) KO3 Billy Smith (40/50) (26-18-1) (Smith was 22-14-1 in the tough HW division but has only been able to go 4-4 against what many consider much weaker competition) BW - Jimmy Walsh (7/6) (16-12-5) UD10 Dan Rowan (49/52) (13-6-2) (rowan at pre, Walsh's 6th win in a row) |
