Okay I am through the beginners for May and they had a record of 74-2-1 against the Tomato Cans. Pretty much what I wanted. Only 2 of the 77 fighters will move to Pre-Prime now.
WW - William Sullivan moved to 5-1 BW - Ike Weir fought his 8th fight and is 2-5-1 (he was in the main division before I decided to drop all the beginners down to club) |

Mccoy Destroys Creedon Takes Title
May 5, 1907
#3 Charles McCoy (17-7-3) scored a TKO1 over champ Dan Creedon (18-9). McCoy never let Creedon get out of his corner, jumping him on the opening bell. The initial flurry stunned Creedon and McCoy never let up landing 51 out of 51 punches until the ref stopped it 1:57 into the fight. Creedon never landed a punch. On the undercard WW- Dick Burge (11-14-2) UD10 Honey Mellody (11-11) LW - George Lavigne (19-8-1) TKO8 George McFadden (9-3-1) WW - Terry Martin (6-0) KO8 Matty Matthews (12-15-2) (Martin fought at pre-prime in this club fight) LW - Austin Gibbons (11-15-2) TKO3 Tim Kearns (5-2-1) (Kearns fought at pre-prime in this club fight) HW - Con Coughlin (6-20) UD10 John Ferguson (11-16-1) (club fight) |

Attell Cruises Through Lbc Defense
May 21, 1907
Abe Attell (27-5-1) cruised through a UD15 over #3 Young Corbett (13-11-4), in his first defense of the newly minted LBC title. Attell opened strong knocking down Corbett in the 3rd. Attell appeared to be in automatic pilot during the middle rounds content with the lead he built early. Because of that Corbett go back into the fight winning the 7th through the 9th. Attell then dropped Corbett in the 10th and cruised through the next 5 rounds. I had it 144-139. Jim Trunzo ringside had it 146-137. The official judges had it 144-141/144-140/145-139. On the undercard HW - Denver Ed Martin (12-12) UD10 Peter Maher (12-12-1) LW- Jem Carney (16-11) KO10 Andy Bowen (12-17) (Bowen went down five times and then dropped to the club ranks after the fight) LHW - Patsy Cardiff (8-8) TKO5 George Byers (8-2-1) LW - Billy Frazier (12-17-1) UD8 Charley White (4-3) (Frazier proving post-prime doesn't mean dead in this club fight, White fought pre-prime) HW - Dan Hickey (7-21-1) DRAW10 James McCoy (4-14-1) (club fight) |

Herrera Bounces Back With Close Victory
May 25, 1907
Aurelio Herrera (11-4) coming off of 2 straight loses scores an UD10 over highly regarded BW Al Delmont (11-7-1). Delmont who has little power at BW had none at FW which allowed Herrera to walk through Delmont's punches to land his. Delmont is a speed boxer, which is the type that Herrera has had problems with. For most of the fight it appeared this would be the case again. While Herrera hurt Delmont with most of his shots, he wan't able to string enough together to drop Delmont. I had it 77-75 going into the 9th in favor of Delmont. Herrera needed a knockdown. He didn't get it but he dominated Delmont in the 9th, landing 49 shots to Delmont's 2. I gave a 10-8 round to Herrera. Fortunatly so did all the official judges. Herrera won the 10th and the fight. I had it 95-94. Dan Cuoco had it even at 95. The official judges had it 95-94/96-93/96-93. |

Title Defense Takes Mcgovern 59 Seconds
May 28, 1907
Terry McGovern (23-5-2) landed an uppercut :59 into the fight that ended the title hopes of #2 Tommy Kelly (12-11-2). All to be said about that fight. On the undercard HW - Charley Mitchell (21-7) UD10 Jack Palmer (11-13) (Palmer drops to post-prime) HW - Frank Slavin (16-10-1) UD10 William Miller (10-12-3) (Miller drops to post-prime) MW - Mike Donovan (20-12-2) TKO6 Arthur Cripps (7-4) HW - Tony Ross (6-4-2) DRAW8 James Dalton (7-16-4) (Ross fought pre-prime in this club fight) FW - Billy Barrett (4-10-2) UD10 Joe Cain (0-7) |

I finally got caught up on this one. I can't believe Creeden went down like that. He did win the title atleast not all fighters do that. Good stuff, definately keeping my interest.

Fighter Movement
On the undercard of a non-title fight card
LHW - Larry Temple (8-0) UD8 Mike Kine (8-14-3) (this fight moves Temple to the main division, with a weak LHW division right now Temple could be a factor once he gets 7 more fights under his belt) HW - Tommy Dugan (5-1) TKO4 Charles Lange (0-21) (poor Lange got knocked down 5 times and lost 8 retirement points so he only has 2 left, it would appear he will retire after his next fight without a win or a draw) Last edited by mh2365 : 02-24-2005 at 07:36 AM. |

Ketchel Hammers Butler
June 15th, 1907
Stanley Ketchel (18-2) scored a TKO5 over #4 Joe Butler (22-6-1) to win his 3rd title defense. Butler was slick and hard to find in the first round, winning it easily. Ketchel caught him in the 2nd and then continued to pound him until the ref had seen enough in the 5th. Butler's right eye began to swell shut in the 3rd, he started holding his hands low after the 4th, and suffered a bloody nose before the stoppage in the 5th. On the undercard WW - Tommy West (9-0) SD10 Dixie Kid (13-10-5) (Not sure where this decision came from I had it 97-94 Kid and the ringside judge had it 94-94 Kid) BW - Watty Austin (9-7-1) UD10 Charley Kelly (3-6-1) FW - Sammy Kelly (6-2) UD8 Kid Bebee (0-9) (Kelly fought as pre-prime and Bebee moved up from BW for this club fight) HW - Mike Sheehan (6-17-1) KO4 Steve Taylor (10-15)(club fight) MW - George Rooke (11-12-1) KO6 Billy Gardner (4-13-3) (Gardner stepped up to MW for this club fight) |

Mcauliffe Squeaks By Lavigne For First Defense
June 19, 1907
Jack McAuliffe (23-4-2) scored a SD15 over #3 George Lavigne (19-9-1) to win his first title defense of the LBA Lightweight Title. Not alot of action in this fight but it was back and forth. I had Lavigne winning the 8th, 9th, 10th and that was the only time anyone won 3 straight rounds. McAuliffe won the final round and that seemed to push him over the top. I had it a draw at 143, as did ringside judge Mark Moe. The official judges saw it 142-143/144-142/143-142. On the undercard BW - Johnny Coulon (13-1) KO6 Joe Wagner (9-7) HW - Jimmy Elliot (20-4-3) DRAW10 Johnny Woods (10-14-3) (Woods avoided dropping to the club ranks) LHW - Dan Flynn (6-1-1) SD8 Jim Barry (6-1-1) (both fought at pre-prime in this club fight) MW - Bob Moha (7-1) TKO4 James Brady (5-18-1) (Moha fought at pre-prime in this club fight) LW - Austin Gibbons (12-15-2) KO5 Barney Donovan (11-16-1) (club fight) |

Griffo Wins His 4th Title Defense
June 26, 1907
Young Griffo (24-4-3) won a SD15 over #3 Tommy Sullivan (9-10-3) to win his 4th title defense. These two fought to a draw a year ago and it almost happened again. In a very similiar fight to the LW title fight of a few days ago, these two battled back and forth with no one putting together a string of rounds. There were no knock downs and both fighters had their right eye swelling. Both myself and Markus Heinsohn at ringside had the score at 143-142 for Griffo. The official judges saw the fight the saw as the LW title fight. 142-143/144-141/143-142. On the undercard LW- Harry Lyons (22-10) UD10 Ad Wolgast (7-3) MW - Paddy Purtell (7-8) TKO1 Al Greenfield (13-16-2) HW - Tom Allen (16-8) TKO2 Mike McCoole (8-10-2) (McCoole stepping up to HW to get slapped around) LW- Jimmy Britt (5-11-2) MD8 George Munroe (4-2) (Munroe fought at pre-prime for this club fight) LHW - Fred Cooley (4-10-1) SD10 PJ Rentzler (8-13-2) (club fight) |

Title fights for July, 1907
Several title fights this month, looks like some good ones too.
HW - (LBC) Joe Coburn (16-7-4) vs. #1 Dominic McCaffrey (16-7-3) HW - (LBA) Jack Johnson (24-1) vs. #3 Peter Jackson (25-4) (Jackson the only fighter to defeat Johnson so far) MW - (LBA) Stanley Ketchel (18-2) vs. #1 Tommy Ryan (27-0) (Ryan tries for his second title and puts his undefeated record on the line) LW - (LBC) Billy Myer (21-3-3) vs. #1 Battling Nelson (14-12) (Nelson gets his 4th try at a title) BW - (LBC) Owen Moran (19-3-3) vs. #5 Digger Stanley (13-12-3) (Stanley is a nice story, not only did he fight his way back from the club ranks but also from post-prime. But as my rules go one loss and he moves to post-prime for good, so this is a big risk) Also both welterweight champs (Hitte and Jackson) fight non-title fights. |

I think once two fighters get 5 defenses I'll set up unification bouts. The the unified titles will only be fought for if he's facing the #1 contender, otherwise it'll just be for one title.
