This will be his third try, Attell destroyed him in their last match, hopefully it'll change this time but I don't see it.

Sullivan handles Burns for his 2nd LBF title defense

August 1, 1907

John L. Sullivan (25-5) scored a KO7 over #5 Tommy Burns (15-5-1) for his second defense of his LBF title.

Burns was a game fighter but Sullivan was just too strong for him. Burns won the 1st and the 3rd round, but then was dropped in the 4th. He spent the 5th and 6th rounds backing up and then was dropped for good in the 7th.

On the undercard

HW - John Heenan (17-6-1) UD10 Leo Houck (11-7-1) ( Houck stepped up to HW for this loss)
LH - Larry Temple (9-0) TKO1 Charley Stevenson (4-7)
HW - Tommy Dugan (6-1) KO3 Jem Stewart (4-17-2) (Dugan fought pre-prime in this club fight)
HW - Joe Grim (9-17-1) MD10 Gunner White (2-13-1)
MW - Johnny McGlade (10-16-3) MD10 WC McClellan (12-18-3)

Quick stoppage lets Donaldson retain title

August 8, 1907

John Donaldson (10-5) scored a TKO5 over #1 Joe Choynski (22-9-1) to win his first title defense of the LBA lightheavyweight crown.

Donaldson won the 1st and the 3rd rounds, but was knocked down in the second. He also had a bloody nose, that occurred in the 2nd also.

Donaldson opened a nasty cut over the left eye of Choynski in the 5th, and after consulting with the ring doctor, the referee stopped the fight.

On the undercard

MW - Joe Thomas (9-0-1) KO2 Frank Klaus (9-4-1)
HW - George Godfrey (17-10-1) MD10 Hank Griffin (12-5-2)
Mw - Bob Moha (8-1) KO5 Dick Moore (0-18-1) (Moha fought pre-prime in this club fight and moves to the main division with the win)
FW - Jimmy Briggs (7-9-3) UD8 Sammy Kelly (6-3) (Kelly fought at pre-prime in this club fight)
BW - Danny Dougherty (7-12) UD10 Kid Bebee (0-10) (club fight)

Only 4, Klaus was his first big win. His second win in the main division, with his other coming against 4 rated LHW Morris Harris.

Herrera falls to 0-3 in title fights

August 15, 1907

Abe Attell (28-5-1) scored a KO15 over #1 Aurelio Herrera (11-5) for his second defense of the LBC Featherweight title.

Herrera continues his trouble against boxers with 4 out of his 5 losses coming against Attell and Griffo. His 5th loss was against Jem Driscoll. He just can't seem to get a power shot in on a guy who want stand right in front of him.

Attell dominated this fight from the opening bell. He opened a cut under Aurelio's left eye in the first which also caused that left eye to begin swelling. Herrera suffered a cut under his right eye in the 4th.

Attell scored a knockdown in the 6th. Herrera was cut over the right eye in the 7th and then knocked down for good in the 15th.

I had the fight 138-129 for Attell at the time of the stoppage.

It's back to the drawing board for Aurelio.

On the undercard

BW - Johnny Coulon (14-1) UD10 Billy Rotchford (8-6)
HW - James Corbett (23-7-2) SD10 Jack Palmer (11-14)
WW - Jack Willis (7-2) UD8 Jim Judge (4-8) (both fighters fought at pre-prime for this club fight)
HW - James Dalton (8-16-4) KO4 Con Coughlin (6-21) (club fight)
MW - George Fulijames (13-14) KO6 Billy Devine (4-13-3) (Devine stepped up to mw for this club fight)

McCoy batters and bloodies Martin in title defense

August 21, 1907

Charles McCoy (18-7-3) scored a 8th round KO of #7 Harris Martin (16-12-4) for his first defense of his LBC Middleweight Title.

The fight started off bad for Martin and went downhill from there. He suffered a cut under his left eye in the 2nd, under his right eye in the 4th, and over his right eye in the 7th.

He was knocked down in the 7th and then out in the 8th.

I had it 69-63 at the end of 7.

On the undercard

LW - Jem Carney (17-11) TKO6 Harry Gilmore (19-12)
HW - Bob Armstrong (21-9-2) UD10 Jem Mace (11-7-2)
HW - Gus Ruhlin (9-10-4) SB8 Tony Ross (6-5-2) (Ross fought pp in this club fight, he moves up to the main division despite the loss)
HW - Bill Squires (8-11) KO5 Joe Hess (1-22) (club fight)
WW - Kid Farmer (2-16-1) TKO9 Frank Solomon (1-13) (Farmer stepped up to WW for this club fight)

McGovern dominates Leon

August 24, 1907

Terry McGovern (25-5-2) was pitching a shutout on all the cards against #2 Casper Leon (12-11-4) when the fight was stopped in the 13th.

McGovern dominated from the opening bell. Leon started carrying his hands low in the 3rd. His left eye started swelling in the 4th, his right eye in the 7th, and he was knocked down in the 11th. There was only 2 rounds that McGovern didn't score at least 20 points.

The fight was stopped at the start of the 13th, because both of Leon's eyes were nearly swollen shut.

It was McGovern's 2nd title defense.

On the undercard

WW - Joe Walcott (16-10-3) SD10 Dal Hawkins (9-5-1)
HW - Sam McVey (17-4) KO4 Billy Woods (7-10-2)
LW - Austin Gibbons (13-15-2) TKO1 Arthur Chambers (5-1) (Chambers fought pre-prime in this club fight)
HW - Joe Godfrey (4-20-2) KO5 Mike Sheehan (6-18-1) (club fight)
FW - Billy Barrett (5-10-2) UD10 Billy Whistler (5-12-3)

Dempsey will regain his title, while Gans will become the second two division world champ, McAuliffe will destroy Carney.

Jackson defends title

September 13, 1907

Peter Jackson (13-3) scored a TKO6 over #1 Joe Gans (24-2-2) for his 3rd LBC Welterweight defense. This denied Gans the chance to become the second fighter to win the title at two weight classes, and was only Gans 2nd defeat.

The fight was close until a nasty cut stopped the fight in the 6th. Jackson was cut under his right eye in the first. Each round was close.

At the time of the stoppage I had 49-48 Jackson. The official judges had it 49-47/49-47/48-48, in favor of Jackson.

On the undercard

LW - Frank Erne (11-1-2) KO8 Clarence Forbes (10-8) (Forbes stepped up to lw for this loss)
MW - Jack Williams (10-1-1) UD10 Rube Ferns (19-10)
FW - Charlie Griffin (7-0) UD8 Jack Roberts (4-5) (both fighters fought at pp for this club fight)
MW - Joe Costa (7-1-4) TKO9 Geoffrey Thorne (14-17-2) (Costa fought at pp for this club fight)
HW - Joe Goddard (11-13) TKO5 Jim Daly (12-15-4) (club fight)

Moran stopped

September 17, 1907

Owen Moran (20-4-3) will think twice about stepping up to the FW division as journeyman Billy Finucane (6-7-1) pounded him on the way to a UD10.

Moran was down twice in this fight. He will not lose his BW title.

**note** weight adjusted fight

Ryan finds new way to win

September 21, 1907

Trailing on all scorecards, knocked down once, both eyes swollen and bleeding from his mouth, Tommy Ryan (29-0) battled back to score a TKO11 over #2 Jack Dempsey (30-4).

Dempsey battered Ryan for most of the fight. He caused both of Ryan's eyes to start swelling in the first, cut Ryan's lip in the 3rd and dropped him in the 8th.

The 8th round, however, is where Ryan turned the fight around. He was pounding Dempsey when a right hook dropped Tommy, and ended up the round with more points. He then won the 9th. He won the 10th convincingly. Then dropped Dempsey early in the 11th. Dempsey was out on the ropes when the ref stopped it with :30 left in the round.

After 10 I had Dempsey up 98-93.

On the undercard

BW - Tommy Kelly (13-11-2) KO3 Jimmy Walsh (5-7-3)
LH - John Flood (5-6-1) TKO6 Gunner Moir (7-7-1)
HW - Ben Taylor (8-5-1) TKO6 Syd Hughes (4-9-1) (Hughes drops to club ranks)
LW - Tim Kearns (6-2-2) MD10 Young Otto (4-13-2) (Kearns fought pp in this club fight)
HW - Jim Jeffords (8-9) TKO10 Denver Ed Smith (13-15-1) (Jeffords stepped up to HW for this club fight)
