Scheduled to fight a gimme this month against Martin Mulverhill. This is his first fight of 1910, and he is currently ranked 11th.

Herrera is off this month but is also ranked 11th and is 2-0 in 1910 including the impressive win over Young Erne.

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.

Jeannette does the expected

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.

April 3, 1910

Joe Jeannette (CH) (21-0) scored an easy KO4 over Frank Mantell (7/8) (15-5) (mantell at pre) for his first defense of the WBA Heavyweight title. The WBC title was not at stake for this fight.

Jeannette came out strong, knocking Mantell around the ring in the first. Mantell went down in the second.

Jeannette had another big round in the 3rd, before stopping him in the 4th.

I had it 30-26 at the stoppage.

On the undercard

MW - Tommy Ryan (12/8) (38-2-1) KO3 Martin Mulverhill (15/19) (8-6-2) (mulverhill at pre)

MW - Charley Johnson (43/36) (9-11-2) TKO5 Jack Nelson (23/37) (13-5) (nelson at pre)

LW - Sam Bolen (25/21) (13-12-1) UD10 Paul Koehler (UR) (9-1-1) 95-93 (koehler at pre, last round KD won the fight for Bolen)

MW - Isadore Strauss (UR) (8-3-2) SD8 Jack Smith (UR) (6-3-1) (both at pre for this club fight)

WW - Young Joseph (club) (9-10-4) UD10 Billy Gardner (club) (9-19-3) (gardner at post, joseph stepped up to WW for this club fight)

he is closing back in on it. The back to back losses he had dropped him in the rankings. But now he has won 4 in a row.

I'm willing to bet that the current champs are praying he doesn't make his way back or better yet retires that man is just a monster.

He was unbeatable at WW, he is just a tad bit more human at MW. He seems to have lots of problems with Frank Craig (MDW, Draw and KO'd in 1), and the Papke fight was one of my all-time best fights with both fighters down twice before Ryan didn't get up in the 11th. Under the old ranking system he dropped quite a bit due to 3-2 in his last 5. Papke is currently #1 but Craig has fell out of the picture when he lost 3 straight.
